What's a better editing program for my build Vegas 16 or Premiere Pro?
Something to remember about PPro - only certain features are GPU accelerated. You should read the info about that - much the same with Vegas

Serious crash issue with Fujifilm video files.
Loaded the clips into VP15 last build onto my RAID 0. Let's just say my i8700K OC'd to 5ghz with 32GB RAM and R9 RX380 4GB GPU crawled. Resolve 14 only loaded the audio portion of the clips on the timeline.

Vegas 15 Edit GPU question: Intel QSV and/or AMD VCE?
So I've finally gotten around to getting the iGPU seen via attaching one of my monitors to it (seems it's not seen by Windows unless a monitor is attached to it). I used the standard 1080-29.97 8 bit template and render out (One track has Neat Video applied at the track level) - let's just say alot faster than using VCE! I even went so far as to set the project properties to 32 bit just for giggles - rendered about the same speed as an 8 bit VCE encode - pretty amazing actually. MAGIX AVC-QSV - 1:33 secMAGIX AVC-VCE - 1:58 sec Now the downside - the QSV version seems to be washing out my highlights. The AMD VCE encodes do not appear to exhibit this issue. Any ideas?

Vegas on an Intel NUC
I've been considering the form factor since Vegas can utilize the Intel iGPU. I'm looking to pare down all my technology from full sized desktop to a much smaller form factor - the question is how well it handles 4K or above footage for future proofing. It'll probably entail proxy files to edit smoothly is my guess...

WTH is this ongoing Error Code -10 I keep getting!?
OK - as I last ditch effort, I deactivated the software on my desktop and reactivated it. I'll be damned - It worked! I can now render successfully - go figure... 😒😒😒 @VEGAS_EricD Given I've seen this issue discussed in other threads - maybe a sticky someplace here on the forums about if you get an Error: -10 message - try deactivating Vegas and reactivating it. As soon as I did that - Vegas went back to normal.

@Cliff Etzel If this is about a codec not activated then this link might help. https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-pro-faqs-and-troubleshooting-guides--104787/ See point 10. A script “activate renderers.cs” was also made available some time back that would activate all codecs that needed activation after a new version was installed. I found the link to the script and installed - still getting the same error message...

WTH is this ongoing Error Code -10 I keep getting!?
Some facts here: Modems are constantly being upgraded from their sources for more speed/bandwidth, etc. In my case three out of the four computers work fine but the fourth will error 10 which dumps the modem to red light condition. After rebooting (cold boot) the modem it works fine sometimes. Then after rebooting the 4th computer it works fine all the time. When your system isn't working correctly the applications will run micro slow until the modem dumps off to red lights. All of this is because of the modem upgrades in your system which are out of your control. You will probably need a genius to get things to work properly if that is possible. Note: All of my computers worked fine until the modem was upgraded from 6 to 10 megs speed then the problems started. JJK Modem cold reboot - still the same issue. I also tried connecting via cel phone data wifi hot spot and also received the same error message.

WTH is this ongoing Error Code -10 I keep getting!?
I just attempted using my cel phone as a wireless hotspot to attempt to connect to the activation server - I still received the same error -10 notification. My laptop is able to render in Vegas Pro 15 Edit without the message so it's not my wireless network as far as I can tell. I wish MAGIX actually had phone based tech support...

@Cliff Etzel Unfortunately I don't know the Magix Server's name or IP that takes care of the codec activation; try pinging magix.com from a command prompt. I would also raise ticket as per Erik's post; this is a serious issue I think they will help quickly. I've submitted a support ticket already - I'll ping their server

@Cliff Etzel You “might” be barking up the wrong tree. Xfinity’s DNS servers are not as reliable as one might think and it could well be that your router just can’t make a proper DNS query. In such a case, it may help restarting the router and as a further measure set a static IP on your computer and also enter Xfinity’s DNS server as a secondary server; primary is your router. hmmm..... Thanks for the heads up @OldSmoke - I'll look into it and see what I can do about that **Update - I made the changes you suggested, still unable to connect so I can render....

Ok, it may be yiur router, or even badly configured IPV6 at your ISP. Vegas needs one time internet cinnection to activate. And certain cidecs need that too. I'd try first disable ipv6, then try on another internet cinnection (mobile 4G, wifu at neighbour, etc...) my copy of Vegas has been activated for months... And the fact this intermittently happens - and is usually during a short deadline project has become more than I am willing to accept any longer. My wifi connection settings on my desktop are set for IPV4 only and I have no idea how to go about changing the settings on my Xfinity Router. This is nothing more than another form of hostageware... As a side note: I just discovered how to activate proxy files/render cache within Resolve 14.3 (Resolve 15 won't run on my Ultrabook with Intel iGPU) just now that all of a sudden makes my editing experience on my Dell Ultrabook much smoother using HD footage. Like many others... I'm done with using Vegas...

WTH is this ongoing Error Code -10 I keep getting!?
Do you have some firewall or antivirus software, that might interfere with internet connection of applucations other than the browser? No - I have made sure firewall rules are set for both incoming and outgoing for Vegas... I have no idea why this is happening but it's prevented me from getting projects rendered. I've had to export bare bones XML files and then have to re-edit my title graphics and color corrections which only protracts my efficiency in post.

Vegas font sizing issues
We needn't go that far. Vegas Pro's own titlers "Titles & Text" compared to "(Legacy) Text"/"Credit Roll" use totally different font sizes for the same numbers. Yes they do but again, they do not function in the way I need them to for the project specs. I already tried those options within Vegas 15 and still could not get any of them to do as specified in the project description. It slows me down TBH and is somewhat frustrating given the tests I have done with other NLE's offering exactly what is needed. I want to stay in Vegas from beginning to end without having to go to another application but it seems once again I have to kludge a workaround for this client's parameters. My experience shows both PPro CS6 and Resolve titler's do exactly this within the apps themselves. I wish there was a way to know I can just input the specified font sizes in the Vegas titler features and just have them work as needed.

Probably for this specific series of projects I'll just create the graphics in Photoshop as I really can't run Premiere Pro any longer since moving to an AMD GPU (I still own PPro CS6 which only runs in software mode with AMD)

Vegas font sizing issues
I have to somewhat disagree as both Premiere Pro and Resolve display fonts at the same size as specified by the production house for the graphics. IF video is video and print is print, then why is it the other apps display the fonts correctly while Vegas doesn't?

Vegas Pro 16 ?
I think most people here want to see only a stable Vegas that simply does what it's designed to do without bugs or crashes. The last two release updates have been very stable for me. Looking forward to what Vegas 16 will bring to my post workflow...

Vegas Pro 15: Hardware recommendations for high end PC.
My recent desktop upgrade is an i8700k Oc'd easily to 5Ghz, an Asus Z370-H mobo, 32GB Corsair LPX Ram and AMD R9 380 4GB Card. Works flawlessly - still laggy when using Neat Video but that's a given no matter what as far as I can tell. Without using it, I can peg my CPU to 100% on Renders and if I use VCE as the render option, GPU gets pegged to as much as 70% while CPU sits around 60% - never seen that til the hardware upgrade - and Vp15 v361 is rock solid.

Current V16 Upgrade Offer
I really want to support Vegas Pro... I’ve been slowly but surely learning how to use it proficiently and achieving the kind of “Professional” results that I can derive an income from. But every since I started using this software at (v11Pro) and now at 15 Pro15 Suite, I’ve noticed one constant behavior.. That is, the need to spend a lot of valuable time trying to figure out another functional problem with the software that impedes many of the projects that I try to complete.. I have to say though... If this forum wasn’t around, I would never have learned what I’ve learned thus far. I feel that no matter how loyal the customer base is for Vegas Pro, profit will prevail and it will always be a gamble when we pay for a new release. I just upgraded to version 15 Pro Suite $350.00 (usd) less than a month ago and no offer of version 16 .🙁 The main reason I upgraded from versions 12/13 pro was the fact that they both started crashing for no reason that I can tell but the new Magix ad for upgrading always seem to take over my system. Just can’t trust anybody anymore.. Version 15 Pro Suite crashes if my system is online.. Magix could’ve at least taken me to a movie and bought me dinner before this frustrating experience. I probably will figure out how to make the software work properly, sooner or later, but I don’t have enough confidence to put an important project on it YET! When MAGIX released Vegas 15 v361, I tested along side Premiere CS6 (WAS my default NLE) and Resolve 14. What I discovered is all the issues I had with Vegas up until v361 disappeared. I was ticked off with Adobe in general and Resolve has serious hardware requirements that my Ultrabook with an Intel iGPU was not able to use. MAGIX cured what ailed me in my video post work and it has now become my only NLE. My work doesn't require what Resolve brings to the table and the ability to use it on my ultrabook when I need to edit while traveling is a major bonus for me. I've just completed 2 large projects and Vegas didn't let me down - albeit I was holding my breath at times wondering if I was going to need to revert back to Premiere - thankfully I didn't. I'll probably wait until Vegas 16 is vetted before I consider it - and it will depend on what it brings to the table over Vegas 15

Real-time Playback
it's an HP Zbook 17 4G, w Intel Xeon CPU E3-1535M v6 @ 3.10GHZ processor, 32gb ram. so no versions of veg 15 will actually play back in real time? Here's the thing... some codecs just aren't meant for editing no matter what the spin doctoring ad wizards for ANY of the NLE companies spouts. Use a common codec, keep things simple and you'll find your editing experience will improve. Your laptop specs look good. I'd say the bottle neck might be what hard drive/connection you're editing off of. I found the bottle neck for me is the eSata connection to my 2x1tb mini raid 0 using spinning HD's. I plan on moving to an internal SSD for current project assets shortly. I'm not saying that's your case - just saying that there are other factors to consider before blaming Vegas itself. I recently jumped ship from Adobe and relieved I did. Hostageware payments every month is basically a Ponzi scheme IMO. MAGIX is finally getting things sorted out for Vegas Pro since acquiring it and I'm betting version 16 when it's released will provide more tweaks and better hardware support. My thought is MAGIX doesn't have the sheer number of manpower resources like Adobe, Apple or AVID so they're doing their best and this latest version shows that - if it weren't for this release finally getting things right for me, I'd still be editing on Premiere Pro CS6 (blech!) - thankfully I no longer have to and my new Dell 12" ultrabook's Intel GPU is fully utilized by Vegas 15 for when I'm editing on the road and using my ipad as a second monitor attached via duet display. Vegas is fast on this little machine! (specs for this full setup in my profile)
