Problems with rendering a VEG file
I thought that you can edit as much as you want in the trial, but can only render 2 minutes in length. My understanding is the timeline length has to be less than 2 minutes. This has been discussed in other threads.

VPE 19 - Playback stops working after rendering.
@NOVAdash Not all users may have the Creative Sound Blaster ASIO Device but for those that do you appear to have found a quick solution so I'll mark your post as "The Solution". It could help any others who come across the same problem.

To my knowledge it's not a common issue but is something encountered occasionally. The cause has never been determined but appears to be unique to particular systems. Search the forum and you will find previous threads. As for an easy fix the only solution I'm aware of is to play with the Audio Device settings as you have. Another variation of the problem is not that playback doesn't occur but it plays with terrible audio until you do the Audio Device switch.

There is no legitimate "Sony" Vegas Pro 18. From where did you obtain it? Did you read the link provided?

@Jamie-Dogdad If your software doesn't appear in your Magix account which would indicate that it's not registered to you then you have a problem. It possibly also indicates that you don't have its serial number in order to activate? One solution would be to purchase Vegas Pro Edit which is the cheapest Pro version. It's the full editor but without extras. Currently VP18 is on sale at Humble Bundle. This thread has a link https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/humble-bundle-vp18--140191/ VP18 Edit should open your vf files.

@Jamie-Dogdad Your vf file opens no problem in my VMS17Platinum. So the file is okay and it suggests you may have a system problem.

@Jamie-Dogdad Also update your VMS14 platinum to build 148 which was the latest. Go to your Magix account https://www.magix.com/us/support/my-service-center/ and under My Products find your VMS14 and download from there which should give you build 148.

Upload one of your problem vf files to a cloud service such as Google Drive and post the link. We can then download and try. Don't worry that we don't have the media. Doing this will help establish whether your vf file is corrupt, or if it's a problem with your installation.

@Jamie-Dogdad Please clarify your problem. Which version and build of VMS do you have? Can you open your VMS with a blank project Then when you try to open an existing vf file what happens and is there an error message.

How to include a thumbnail in the finished render file? (Vegas 19)
VLC Media Player. Interesting. I use MPC-HC and Win 10 V22H2 shows thumbnails for my mpg, m2ts and mp4 files. My black leaders (1 sec 15 frames long) are ignored. The exception is avc where the MPC-HC icon is shown instead of a thumbnail.

AVCHD format doesn’t work with VEGAS Pro 20.0
@fid Are you online when you try to render? Possibly a codec is required which needs to be activated the first time it's needed.

VMS 16 - On New Project - How to disable the PiP Track?
This has been discussed before and the short answer is there isn't a "fix". It's presumably like that to help users but in fact causes confusion. What some users do, including myself, is create a blank project containing tracks, windows etc as we want them. Save it, and open it when you start a new project. But immediately save the project under a new name so your blank project is unaltered and available for next time. I keep a backup in another folder in case I stuff up. As for the pesky "PIP track" you don't need to delete it. Go to the track details on the left, open the track video FX and either mute or delete the PIP FX.

VEGAS Pro Feature Requests
If a free consumer editor can read these formats, I believe a Pro editor such as Vegas should too I recall reading somewhere, probably on another forum, that there are potential legal issues if commercial software uses open source codecs.

@Judy_Volvo It's a different product. Movie Studio 2023 is not a VEGAS product, it's a version of Magix Movie Edit Pro, which is quite different. Support for MS2023 is not available on this site. However, support for Movie Studio 2023 is available from the Magix user forum at https://www.magix.info/us/video-forum/.

Issue with Burning DVD
Has anyone here burned any AVCHD discs? Yes I've burnt many but rarely nowadays. At an average bitrate of around 15 Mbps you could get 38 minutes on a 4.7 GB DVD. I don't know what bitrate the mpeg-2 on HDV tapes usually was, but if only 20 minutes fitted on a DVD disc it was probably around 28 Mbps.

don't know what changed this morning Possibly Windows. It sometimes does more than you realise when it "updates". Go into Control Panel/Security and Maintenance. Click on Maintenance then View Reliability History. Then click on the last day. You will probably find several NET items involved in addition to usual updates.

Issue with Burning DVD
Well... a DVD is 720x480 anyway Only in NTSC territory. It's 720x576 for PAL. Ken doesn't say which he is.

@w.c.e.-spykstra Remember DVDA7 is a 32 bit application so is limited in the amount of RAM it can use.
