OT: Cinescore
bigrock, Thanks for letting us Cinescore users know that we can still get this activated under SCS. I really wish that SONY had released the Theme Packs so we could finish getting the libraries we wanted before they Pulled The Plug. I'm not sure how anyone could use a Theme Pack without the main software is beyond me, but they should have extended the sale of the Theme Packs longer I wonder if this means that SIREN Jukebox will be activated via SCS servers as well instead of MAGIX? SIREN has been discontinued for so long I do not remember when they ended it. I still use this piece of software even today on a Windows 7 x64 system.

SOT - Windows 10 not free anymore... did you go 10
Just a reminder to anyone who performed the Free Windows 10 upgrade can "downgrade back to their previous OS within 30 days" of the install date. I for one did Not partake in the Windows 10 upgrade. Too many issues with computers where I work and the Color Scheme they offer under Windows 10 is awful. Reminds me when Office 2013 came out and Microsoft only offered color choices of White, Grey and Dark Grey. Consumers complained and Microsoft indicated they heard users, but if you look the color scheme is still the same and now Windows 10 has taken the same stance. Things that used to take 2 - 3 clicks now take longer. Try putting This PC icon (instead of calling it Computer or My Computer) on your desktop under Win 10. You now have to click Start | Settings | Personalization | Themes | Then you can click on Desktop Icon settings to select which Icons you want on your desktop. Under Windows 7 you could simple go to the Start button, right-click the Computer icon and Select Show on Desktop. I feel Microsoft is still thinking Tablet instead of desktop for office use. I do not like it and will stick with Windows 7 Pro for now. Just my 2 cents. Everyone has their own preference but Microsoft is going backwards with this version.

Another Win 10 convert
[jdw] Just be aware with the GenArts rebranded particlillusion v3.0.9 program, I believe the previews under "Load Library" no longer shows you the previews... This is known issue and it appears that GenArts will no longer update or fix this and many other issues with pi3. v3.0.4.1 of wondertouch particlillusion still has the preview window working fine. I decided to hold back my Windows 10- upgrade. I do not like the Grey on White color scheme they have for program windows, etc. It is much harder to see where your edges are. Since Windows 7 x64 is working great for me, I'm sticking with it.

Maybe I missed it, but did anyone say if they compared the .exe file from MAGIX compared to the SCS .exe or are they the same? Has VP13 been rebranded to MAGIX name now or is it still saying Sony Vegas Pro?

Another reason to hold off upgrading to Windows 10. Since Microsoft is now calling Windows 10 "a service", there will be no further Windows updates at least until Microsoft decides this plan is bad. Windows 7 users get KB3035583 installed on their system and it silently downloads either the 2.69GB or 3.41GB size files for Windows 10 and then WILL install Windows 10 on your system whether you like it or not. The following KB's should be uninstalled if you want to keep your current version of Windows: (and prevent further Privacy issues under Windows 7 & 8) KB3035583 KB3022345 KB3080149 KB3068708 KB2952664 KB2976978 KB2977759 KB3123862 KB3139929 <Manual Updating enabled is the way I prefer. I prefer to know what is being installed and control WHEN something gets installed> As far as I'm concerned, when a company forces their software on your system after you told them no (back in 2015) and they still go ahead and do it - YOU have to wonder what is going on. Apparently your system is no longer your system. I guess the only thing I can think of is, if your Windows 10 is working now make a Ghost image of it (or other Imaging software) because you will not be able to tell Microsoft to stop at a particular "update". *** End of Support Dates for Windows: Windows 7 January 14 2020 Windows 8 January 10 2023 ***

+1 JohnnyRoy I agree with all your statements and I will say that I have expressed this view many times in the past (not as well as you have stated) and have received responses that were not so pleasant. (Other software as well as Sonic Foundry - back in the day) To me, the whole Activation "thing" is yet another device to limit users rights to software they have purchased. Perpetual license should be just that without anything needing a server/activation/phone home etc. Thanks John Rofrano for your statement!

5 Years? So, here we go with the limitation again. What about SIREN Jukebox that I still use even today? That is seriously over 5 years. So, even though I paid for something and I choose to use it I will NOT be able to activate it? Wow... I seriously hope that Magix reconsiders this. Especially since users (Like Me) use older software on older systems sometimes for specific reasons. Example: I use Windows XP on a old Dell system that I use for Halloween haunts. I too am NOT a Pirate, but seriously if I cannot use something I paid for there ARE other means like user ushere said, there is software that can do this. I really hope that Magix clears up some of this and tells us exactly what they are changing from SONY SCS EULA. With all the faults of SCS, at least I could STILL activate and use my older PAID FOR software. I am not happy to see this new news. Seriously, this Magix acquisition has caused me some serious Ups and Downs... Thank you vkmast for letting us know about this new information.

Hi Eric, Thank you for confirming that as users we will not be Obligated to be online once a month for license validation. Does this mean though, that in 6 months, the software will ask for Internet connection or does this mean once we activate the software we are "good to go"? Thanks.

@Jamon and others, Thank you for all the details and your thoughts. I just wanted to inform us users and see what Magix is going to do. Requiring periodic Internet checks is annoying and basically if Magix decides they will not support an older software program, there goes your software that you like to use and paid for. I understand companies needing to protect themselves, but going down this route to me is limiting OUR use of paid for software. Require registration - Yes, Require a one-time Activation Key - Yes. Require periodic internet connection is NOT needed in my opinion and as many others have mentioned on this thread. Why should any company tell me that I cannot use a piece of software that works for my needs after they stopped supporting it? Believe it or not, I still use a Serious Magic Product called Visual Communicator. Luckily the original owners must have forced Adobe to release a Self-Activating Key to valid users who registered the software. I still can use the software now and for as long as I have hardware that supports it. I currently have many "older" software that serve a function and if they required a periodic check on the Internet, I would NOT be able to use it. Please Magix, do NOT go down this path for the software you purchased from SCS! ( This monthly Internet check is nothing more than Limiting our Paid for Software, in my opinion )

GenArts Sapphire Edge for SVP - No more . . . .
Grazie, I just noticed that earlier today as well and have been asking why did Creative COW take down the particleillusion forum? Using Google, I see that it thinks the links are still good, but none of them are working. Using Creative COW's own Search page pulls up nothing as well. I get very concerned when a forum is taken down, all the valuable information with it goes Poof! I really hope GenArts had nothing to do with it. In my opinion, GenArts bought Wondertouch to gut it and take the technology for their more expensive products. A sad day for pi3 forum users.... Just hoping that Magix keeps the SCS pages going.

Hey Magix! Add this to Vegas MX:
Hello Magix, Please add the capability of Opacity to the Event Pan/Crop tool and maybe allow other options to be added as well. I came across this limitation when I was trying to create those old VH1 Pop-Up style videos using Vegas Pro. (At each position in the video I have to change Opacity but I could not) Composite Envelope is a track Property and the Pan/Crop tool is an event property so If I moved an event all sync is lost between the event pan/crop keyframes and any keyframes in the Opacity (composite) envelope.

Great news from MAGIX!
bigrock, +1 on Cinescore. I also still use this software and hope that Magix will at least consider bringing this back along with maybe Siren Jukebox. It would be a nice gesture if Magix could somehow re-release the Theme Packs for Cinescore since it was pulled pretty quickly. I would love to get my hands on more of the Theme Packs I'm missing.
