Namespace change coming for VEGAS Pro 14
Here's more information on what will happen: The scripting namespace for VEGAS Pro 14 changes from “Sony” to “ScriptPortal”. In your scripts, any occurrence of items like “Sony.Vegas” or “Sony.MediaSoftware” must be changed to “ScriptPortal.Vegas” and “ScriptPortal.MediaSoftware”. We chose this namespace (“ScriptPortal”) in order to remove any company branding and thus avoid this problem in the future. For stand-alone scripts (not a compiled extension), you can easily make this change yourself even without any programming knowledge. Open the script with Notepad (always work on a copy of the script in case you make a mistake) and replace “Sony” with “ScriptPortal”. Save the script with a new filename so that you still have a copy that works in pre-14 versions of VEGAS Pro. As has been pointed out, if you use extensions (like JohnnyRoy's VASST tools or jetdv's Excalibur and Montage Magic) instead of simple scripts, you are dependent upon the script developer to make these changes and recompile the extension. Next, any scripts that use Sony branded plugins will also need to change the name from Sony to VEGAS. For example, if a script currently uses "Sony Sharpen", you need to change that script to "VEGAS Sharpen". Again, you can easily do this yourself in Notepad (always work on a copy of the script in case you make a mistake) unless it is a compiled extension in which case the original developer must make the change and recompile.

V14 support scripts?
I don't mean to keep you guys in the dark, but I wanted to have as much information as possible before I write since I realize how significant this is. Obviously, this has significant impact which is why I've brought it up early. I have not lightly made the decision to proceed in this manner. The naming changes are not optional. Addressing them with a change to VEGAS Pro code comes with risk, not the least of which is that it would take developers off of working on desperately needed stability and performance issues that affect all users. I will follow up soon with more details about exactly what will be happening so that you can formulate your solution plans. You who use simple one-off scripts will be pleased to find out just how easily you can fix this. As has been correctly pointed out in this thread (or the one in the main VEGAS Video forum), those of you who use compiled extensions have a more difficult problem to solve. I believe this community will pull together to help one another solve it.

V14 support scripts?
Hi Everyone, Altarvic says, "I'm sure that V14 continue to support scripts, but MAGIX can change scripting requirements (different paths, namespaces, names of assemblies etc.) - this will require some changes in all existing scripting extensions." This is exactly true. Unfortunately, legal considerations will force us to change the namespace and thus all existing scripts will need to be modified in order to work inside VEGAS Pro 14. It will be a minor, but critical change. We're still working out the details, but once we have them, we will tell you exactly what you'll need to change in your scripts.

<<Thanks for the chuckle :-) We've all been there.>> Sometimes I feel like I'm there most of the time...Don't forget that on video events you can also add a Velocity envelope and set that to reverse anywhere from -1% to -100%.

Is there a Hot Key for the "Selection Edit Tool"
<<<How can I get the Shuffle Tool to be part of a rotational selection?>>> You probably just have to find the right guy to ask...It can't be done in the current version, but it's in the backlog now. Note (in case you're not aware of it) that you can right-click and drag one event over another and then choose Shuffle from the context menu. That's less painful than selecting the Shuffle Tool from the menus, at least when you have a small number of shuffles to make.

Is there a Hot Key for the "Selection Edit Tool"
There's not a direct hot key, but d (no modifier, just the letter d) cycles through all the selection tools. So if you're on the Normal Edit tool, two quick taps on d gets you to to the Selection Edit tool. Another two taps from there puts you back at the Normal Edit tool (or, as noted, Ctrl+D).

We're listening to everyone and will sincerely try to deliver something you can all appreciate and be happy with. Keep in mind that the next release is not just about new features. It won't be perfect for everyone, but it will be a step in the right direction that will hopefully prove our renewed dedication and we'll continue on from there.

I don't understand why you would spread such negativity here. Well, to be fair, users have been bitten over the past few versions, so I do get it. But please don't limit your thinking (or anyone else's) to "hobbyist consumer" features. This growing list is spectacular and I have been logging every single piece of it into my backlog. Obviously it can't all happen immediately--we're a small team. But we're an enthusiastic and dedicated team. And we're itching to get started. Thanks for the great input everyone!

Great news from MAGIX!
Hi everyone. I can't express how wonderful it is to experience your enthusiasm about the recent acquisition. Good things lie ahead! I want to assure all of you that I will be following what you say in the forums as best I can, even if I won't be able to participate directly as much as I'd like. I also want to introduce you to Eric D. from our team here in Madison. Eric will be directly involved in the forums on a regular basis. He is your conduit to communicating with the team. Certified Vegas User Exam - who can tell about it?
As kkolbo reports, the certification program is most definitely alive. We're working now to make it much easier for you to earn your SCVE designation--no matter where in the world you're located--without travelling to Madison. That's step one. Step two will be an expanded SCVT (certified trainer) option, but that's a little further off. I don't have any details to share yet, but I hope to in the not-so-distant future. If you feel that you are qualified to hold the SCVT designation, please send a note to: scs-training@am.sony.com so we can compile a list.
