My Computer Is Shutting Off Once My Video hits 80-90% Rendered
I had a similar problem. I have a Radeon 390X video card that was overheating. I had to manually go into the ATI software (under Global Wattman?) and set it to turn the fan up so it doesn't exceed whatever temp I set it for. I have to this every time the software updates.

Stereoscopic 3D editing tutorial and 3D Blu-ray burn
So I've had no problems creating a side by side Blu Ray but I can't figure out how to make a Frame-Packed Blu Ray 3D. Do you have to set the properties in Vegas to Side by Side full or Top/Bottom full, render, and import into DVDA? I just can't seem to make a Frame-packed Blu Ray 3d work right.

Green Screen Problem

Gh5 4k 24/30p problem
I can't get the 24p or 30p footage to playback on my system with VLC player or Windows Media Player or in Vegas. I can play the 60p videos fine with both players.

Green Screen recommendation
Those pieces are actually 60 inches (5 feet) wide and stretch a lot - at least 40-50% of the original. Get about 10-12 yards of it, cut it in half, sew it together, and you'll have a giant greenscreen that will have no wrinkles if stretched out requiring minimal additional lighting to properly key. You may have to come up with a good method to hang it stretched out. I put grommets in mine and can stretch it on a giant collapsable PVC frame. If I were to do it again I would probably just sew some fabric strips or loops into it rather than use grommets.

Green Screen recommendation
I sewed it together with fluorescent green thread I got at Joann's fabric I think. No problem with the line. Sewed it by hand. Took a little while but I'm not much of a seamstress. Someone with a sewing machine and the skills could do it in minutes I'm sure. I purchased the fabric off of ebay from lycra4sale. Green Screen recommendation
The best material I've ever used is flourescent lime green spandex. The pieces come in about 54 inch widths by however long you want. I sewed 2 pieces together and have a giant green screen that stretches to at least 12-15 feet wide. It takes minimal effort to light it. Easy to hang. Wrinkles stretch right out. It lights very evenly with diffuse shadows. I fold it up and store it in a box. Material is readily available on Amazon, Ebay, or local fabric stores. I would avoid the cheap green muslin cloth like Ushere said.

Chroma-keying problem
I'm assuming you added the chroma key filter to a clip and not to the track level or project level. Go to the end of your clip on the timeline and press the event effects button which will open up all of the filter effects you have added to the clip. Click on the chroma keyer filter to select it. Turn the chroma keyer off by unchecking the box labeled chroma keyer. Then use the dropper to select just the neon green color you want gone. Turn the chroma keyer back on by checking the box. Then use the sliders to fine adjust the range of green.

Problems with 4K preview on a brand new powerfull pc
I have the i7 6800K with 32GB ram and a Radeon 390x. I also edit UHD video from the GH4's little brother, the G7. I get full playback with several color correctors or curves, depending on the specific filters. I can bog it down if I add too many but it takes a lot. I found that I needed to set my dynamic RAM to several thousand MB instead of a few hundred MB order to get good timeline playback. Why I don't know. I'm not even building a dynamic RAM preview either. If we have similar specs I wonder why we are getting different results. Maybe our results aren't that different and you're just throwing heavier effects at it. I stick primarily to Vegas's internal filters with the occassional Boris FX. Even with 2-3 color corrections and curves I still get good play back. If I throw too much at it a can bog it down if I try. Been with Vegas since version 4. Only recently tried Davinci Resolve. I like it for some things but not as a full time editor. I have not tried Edius or Premiere in a long time.

before I jump to V14 - has the preview playback improved?
With Vegas 13, an I7-6800K Six-Core processor, AMD R390X, and 32GB DDR4 ram I can get full rate playback on UHD/24p video set at Full/Best, even with multiple filters added. It helps when I set the Dynamic Ram preview to several thousand rather than several hundred or less. Proxy playback - please fix!
VASST used to have a script called Gearshift which did this very thing. I suggested to them they update it for 4K but they haven't. It was originally for HDV video. The user Rosebud had two free scripts which worked in older version of Vegas which would create and switch proxies. Vegasaur will also do this. I agree the proxies in Vegas would be far more useful if they could be viewed in the "Good" of :Best" modes.

How do I make imported video with alpha work.
Did you actually purchase the video from Pond5 or did you just download the sample from the page? The sample doesn't actually have an alpha channel. Its just showing you what it would look like. Its an 960x540 MP4 file. The one for purchase does have an alpha channel. Its a 1920x1080 MOV/PNG file with alpha channel.

New PC purchase - narrowed down to these two, which is best for Vegas?
I'd just go to the CyberpowerPC website and get them to build you one to your spec. You could get a very good one for about $1500. Use the X99 configurator or take one similar to what you want and change things to how you want it.

Anyone editing 4k on a x99 i7-5930 or Z170 i7-6700
I have an I7 6800K 6 core processor with an R9 390x and edit 4k footage from my Panasonic G7 with ease. I get full 23.98 fps playback at Best/Full even with multiple effects added (depending on the effects of course.)

Build new PC for Vegas Pro and 4k
If you can up your budget to about $1500 you can get those items. New Egg had the CyberpowerPC Gamer Xtreme 1510LQ on sale for $1299 last week that had the six core I7 5820K, R9 390X , 16 GB DDR4, and 250 GB SSD/2 TB HD. Exactly what you're looking for. The price has returned to $1499 now but could possibly drop back down again sometime soon. The CyberpowerPC Gamer Xtreme 1520 is esentially the same but with a six-core I7 6800k for $1549.

Build new PC for Vegas Pro and 4k
Here is a starting point. Depending on your budget choose one of the following processors: Intel I7 6800k 6 core, 6850k 6 core, 6900k 8 core, 6950x 10 core. Motherboard to support those processors will be LGA 2011-3 Socket X99 Chipset. Choose one of these graphic cards: Radeon R9 390, R9 390X, R9 Fury, R9 FuryX. Get at least 16 GB of DDR4 ram (more if possible). Get at least a 200GB SSD for Windows and programs to start quickly. Get at least a 1 GB SATA HD to store current project video files and another HD to render videos to. Others can chime in on specific brands and models.

Clean rendering from 4K video
Make sure you render at "Best" instead of just "Good" if you haven't already since you are resizing the video from 4K to HD.

Green Screen Trouble.
Here is a way you could fix it. Place a copy of your green screen footage on the timeline with the exact same clip below it on a separate track. The top clip will have the parts that are getting accidentally keyed out with green screen. The lower track is your current Hitfilm green screened clip. Select pan/crop on the top clip. Select Mask. Select the Anchor Creation tool on the left side. It looks like a pen. Make a mask around the parts that are getting accidentally keyed out with the green screen. This should lay perfectly on top of the parts on the lower clip that are getting unintentionally keyed out. This should cover the holes made by the keying process. It may get a little tedious, but hopefully better than reshooting.

OT: On the fly recording & editing system
What about old fashioned HDV cameras? Can record the livestream directly from the camera to a computer with firewire with the tape as backup. Old fashioned but effective. Not sure how you would do several cameras into one computer simultaneously though.

Is there anyway to still get Gearshift?
I really like Rosebud's Proxy Stream. Its free and flexible. Very easy to convert and switch to whatever proxy or intermediate you want. If it fully worked in Vegas 13 I'd be set. Mabey he could update it to work fully with Vegas 13. Vegasaur looks nuce but at $100 its a little overkill for what I need.

Is there anyway to still get Gearshift?
I just tried Rosebud's Proxy Stream and works great in Vegas 11 but will not fully work in Vegas 13, It converts the files to proxies fine but hangs when you try to switch them back to the original source.

Thanks Nick. My older laptop struggles with even the built-in proxy files once I add any effects to to the clips. I'll take a look at those you posted. I downloaded the trial of Gearshift under legacy products at Vasst but I do not see any way to purchase the serial number. If anyone wants to sell me a copy of their's they aren't using I'd appreciate it.
