VEGAS Pro 17 Update 1 (build 321) - General Discussion
@Happy .... if you have a lot of subfolders in your project, especially more than 20, it may be a problem affecting VP17 but not VP16. Have a look at this recent post: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-crashes-on-startup-if-there-s-over-20-sub-folders--117373/ The latest comment was from MAGIX who acknowledge that it is now a known problem and they'll be working on a fix in a future update. Thanks, no subfolders, only XAVC files (no thumbs loaded), but the low processor load of 10% and memory load of 30% during loading is questionable...

VEGAS Pro 17 Update 1 (build 321) - General Discussion
Thought I'd give VP17 a try... Load time for a large XAVC project: 13 minutes vs. VP16: under 3 minutes.... Raises the question does my 2014 machine no longer meet the VP17 system requirements?... (Windows 10 64-bit; Processor Intel Core i7-4700MQ with Intel Turbo Boost Technology, 2.40 / 3.40 Turbo GHz; RAM 16 GB; Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770M Prob a bug or some setting you can change as a workaround. Boost should work ok with timeline editing, your gpu would do openCL much better than onboard graphics in current Ryzen APU's & your GPU does hardware decoding of h.264 making it suitable for the major graphics upgrade of v17 & should perform better than v16 with timeline editing and render with compatible codec actually bringing new life into your slower cpu Come to think of it, the minimum system requirements for VP17 were upscaled, so I can imagine demanding tasks like rendering could pose a challenge for my PC, but loading a project requiring a processor load of 10% and a memory load of 30%, doesn't make much sense...

@Happy @david-ruby If you're having trouble with XAVC-S then try disabling so4compoundplug, if you haven't already. @NickHope Yep done that a while back off and on. No relief here. @NickHope so4compoundplug disabled made no difference..

VEGAS Pro 15 Update 4 (build 321) - General Discussion
Still having the frame stutter on xavc-s footage here right before a cut on the timeline. Almost like a freeze frame then jumps to next clip. If I loop it, it is random. Hope this gets a look at. Let me know if I ca be of any help. My experience with (Sony) xavc-s in the trimmer window; frequently using frame forward, frame back and play almost all the time resulted in the program freezing up and having to force the program to close and restart, unworkable... Is it just me, or are others having this issue too?...

Hello, I installed bulid 311 I opened vegas 15 and let go rederation of your project which is showcase and stopped at 71%. Each version of your version is fraught with error. I am sorry to say, but I think I will finish my cooperation on vegas 13. I was planning to buy a vegas 15 at the trade show for 1.5 months, but it still hangs during rendering. My computer is 10 64bit. Ryzen 1700X, Ram 16GB, asus 1050TI OC Same here, I am following the development of Vegas with interest. I am still using Sony Vegas 13, now even with 4K, which is still working pretty well for me since I am only using Sony cameras. Once I tried Vegas 14 which genearated glitches in AVCHD clips. Interested in acquiring the latest version of Vegas because of some new features, but....

@hessam, @appv Are these interlaced or progressive h264 files? Can you link to a sample? @happy You don't have to debug the software. In fact, you (we) shouldn't - leave that to the pros! Support HAS to follow a fairly ridgid / methodical approach or they could never manage the backlog of service requests efficiently. This is normal for all software support departments. @Nick Hope Are you on the MAGIX payroll? I can not see how you can defend VP13 working and VP 14 not working for me. "If it ain't broke fix it anyway"?, One may expect software to keep performing standard functions... I was working with build 178, 189 is just a couple of days old. I am not 'complaining', I noticed things not working in VP14 anymore and only wanted to know if this was a known issue... To be honest, I am done with this. MAGIX just lost themselves my support. Have it your way, you can close this thread, as ar as I am concerned...

Sorry for breaking a rule I missed. It was not meant as an insult. I merely feel this is not trying to assist, but cheap advice when it is already known there are issues with the latest buid as well. Also, I am not expecting support for an old version, as VP13 works for me. I came here because I like the new features and considered an upgrade for VP14. VP does not come cheap and for that money one may expect some quality, no trial-and-error, and surely not having to assist codevelop MAGIX software, which should be reason enough to not install later versions...

Fair enough VP.14.161 seems ok and draft is only preview, but how would you explain the artifacts being visible in the Trimmer Window in VP 14.178 and not in VP13.453? To me it seems a software flaw not related to any project properties and/or render settings... Yes it`s bug/flaw not related with gpu,project or render properties. I rendered your original 20120516062630.m2ts file using the Sony AVC/MVC "AVCHD 1440x1080-50i" template. I rendered in both VP13.453 and VP14.189 at both "Good" and "Best" full-resolution rendering quality. GPU acceleration was off in all cases. In all 4 cases the rendered files are identical and visually difficult to distinguish from the original. You're lucky, the only one not being able to reproduce this issue... Above contributions lead me to believe that VP14 has a flaw and that the project properties or render settings are not the reason for the issue, specially given the fact that the issue even manifests in the trimmer window... I reported the issue, I feel this is something for MAGIX to look at, meanwhile I removed VP14 and continue using VP 13 which works wonderfully for me, also lacking the other VP14 flaw with VOB files ...

OK, good to know, were you able to recrate it, or do you know of more users having the same problem? Strange that 'Kinvermark' above had no issues with VP14... Do you also know about this issue that I mentioned earlier?: "I also noticed a VTS_01_0.IFO loaded in Vegas Pro 14 had separate video and audio dropouts at the point between 2 VOB files, while that same transition point was seamless/flawless in Vegas Pro 13..." To me it seems that for these type of projects VP13 is the more reliable version...

OK, got it , that's clear 😀 I can see your Vegas 14 sample has obvious and serious render glitches. I downloaded your original file into Vegas 14 and rendered it to 1440/50i SonyAVC template. Result: no visible artifacts/glitches in preview OR in rendered file. It looks just like original. So, looks like maybe something unique to your machine, so I would say try to isolate variables. Render to different formats, turn off GPU processing everywhere (preview device, render), ... By the way, did you use any effects, make project template changes, etc.? I'll try a few things here to see if I can re-create the problem. ADDED: OK, if I change the project properties to "Full Resolution Rendering Quality" = Draft I get the same glitches/artifacts as you. Is this the problem? In both Vegas versions the files were rendered with the standard settings and the Project Properties matching the media properties. No GPU or template changes; "Full Resolution Rendering Quality" = Good, also standard. The artifacts are even visible in the trimmer window, weird, I can't think of anything unique to my machine that makes Vegas Pro 13 work well and version 14 not. I think I am going to stick with Vegas Pro 13, works fine for me. I also noticed a VTS_01_0.IFO loaded in Vegas Pro 14 had separate video and audio dropouts at the point between 2 VOB files, while that same transition point was seamless/flawless in Vegas Pro 13... Sorry I was not clear. The file I shared earlier was the original unprocessed camera clip, in case someone wanted to try to render in Vegas Pro 13 and 14 and see for themselves the artifacts that result from Vegas Pro 14 processing. This is one of a number of clips used to compile a video. I started compiling with Vegas Pro 14 when I noticed the artifacts. Now I went back to Vegas Pro 13 to finish the project. Following your suggestion below two links to the clips rendered (same settings/no gpu) with Vegas Pro 13 and 14. The one rendered with Vegas Pro 14 shows artifacts after about 1 second in, as you can see for yourself, doesn't matter which media player...
