Vegas Pro Project Management Advice
Several questions I have... Is this a feature or series of shows? BTW, I'm running on iMac for 4 years using BootCamp. I haven't had any problems with Vegas Pro since changing over from HP. As a matter of fact, we have completed and produced 76 episodes airing on International TV in the last 4 years.( 30minutes) I still have my HP... but iMac lives up to its representation. Never go back to a PC system.

Great news from MAGIX!
One quick question... you may not have this answer right now. Will you now try to create a Mac version of Sony Vegas Pro? I'm working with Catalyst suite... I'm editing in Sony Vegas Mac BootCamp(Windows) and rendering to XML so I can import into Mac Catalyst and master in ProRes. Most TV channels I'm working with wants everything in ProRes so they can make changes if need be.

Apple Updates iMacs…time to buy a new 4k iMac.
I’d just tested the 4k iMac at the Mac store using 4k video. Man, the 4k footages cut like butter. Now, I tested two different flavor one from the new iPhone and a Sony 4k consumer. So it wasn’t full range 32 bit or 10 bit 4k. However, I expect Apple wouldn’t make a machine that wouldn’t handle full 4:2.2 - 4k video.

What are you talking about? A 4k system including display,camera and computer would cost close to 7 to 10k for a professional system. Man SONY FDR-AX100 is for consumers. That won’t hold up to broadcast standard? Of producing a broadcast TV show.

No problem …but try telling that to all forum users complaining about the many problems they are having. Not hating, just stating 4k is now affordable to edit. You can see SCS is going that way!

If you notice SCS front page. I see there are moving toward a Mac platform. All I have to said” 76 episodes later this machine works. Running Vegas Pro flawless in Bootcamp in four years time. no Vegas Pro 14 :(
I'm not having any of those problem you guys are talking about. Since moving to a Mac(Bootcamp) in 2002, we have produced over 76 episodes for syndication distribution to a overseas TV market. Also, I do have Final Cut Pro X. However, like the man said" Vegas is the fastest NLE out here.

Is Apple Working on an 8K iMac?
Agreed with WWJD. I’m topping off at 4K. I have already started to upgrade my systems. With HD… I didn’t go all in like I did with SD. (30k) But with 4K ,we probably make a 35k investment into that format. Cameras 4K TV’s iMac

Vegas Pro 13 iMac 5K so far so good..
That’s great… I’m running VP 13 with Bootcamp on a 3 year ago iMac. Plan on buying the 5K in another month. I’d completed over 75 International TV series in 3 years with no problem after switching from HP machine. The reason for the move to 5K iMac. The TV networks that I am working with are now accepting 4K content. Already purchase A7s… on deck next is the FS7 by this summer.

Upgrading the editing system for 4k?
Just get an iMac with Retina 5K display. Then run Bootcamp, Parallels or VMware Fusion. You should be okay for about 4 to 5 years. I’m running a 2012 iMac editing Full HD 4:2:2 50MB and up. With some 4k footages without any hiccups. We are producing Broadcast International TV series. So far competed 71 episodes going on the fourth season.

Apple Power Mac
Yes I understand that... but what I'm trying to tell you. That same software running on my HP have problems. It runs much better on my Mac. In three years .... I maybe had three crashes. But on my HP and Sony old Vaio PC machines. Multiple problems being stable( 8 crashes a day etc.) and rendering long form projects. Mac, albeit at a higher cost, but as Apple fans often say – their stuff just works, and it’s also well designed and made. You can debate all you want. With my old PC's.... I spend so much time being a computer specialize. Always trying find out whats wrong and how to fix it. In addition, I have been running Vegas Pro Connect on my iPad. It works!

That's why I haven't been on this forum in three years. Once, I went to a Mac. Now, I'm producing syndicated TV shows internationally. Using Vegas Pro 13. I'm running it on Bootcamp. But, I will be looking to upgrade with the latest iMac 5k or MacPro. Let me say this" My Mac help me produce over 51, one hour long TV show in the last 3 years. I got a lot backlash from the PC community on this forum. About Vegas needs to go on the Mac platform. But of course I got the last laugh! I would never go back to a PC.

Macbook Pro...Still not enough?
(I partitioned about 65 GB of the hard drive to Bootcamp, installed Windows 7 as well as my version of Vegas Pro (9e). That could be your problem. I'd partition 250 GB to run Windows 7 program( After Effect, Photoshop and ProAnimator etc. But, I have all master/work footages comes from a external harddrive. Yeah, 65 GB is too small. Actually, the first time I had 100GB. It didn't run to smooth. So, I changed it to 250GB. I hope that help!

OT new I-mac
As a working producer... I will be jumping on new iMac 5k and Mac Pro. Once I complete the purchase of all my FS 7-4 k camera. Let me say this" My Mac help me produce over 51, one hour long TV show in the last 3 years. Furthermore, producing a full show with CC,FX and Speed changes is hard on your computer. Incredible render time in the beginning. My HP windows kept failing after 5 hours. But, with this Mac I have now... I can go sleep knowing this Mac can render a 10 hour project without a glitch. I would never go back to a PC!
