@cadudesun Favorites not storing. Yes, they're apparently not being stored. They are being stored on exit, but they're not being loaded on launch.

@JN- So Options/Preferences/Display/Use Alternate HighDPI Settings click apply, close down vp then open again.Thanks, but no luck for me. Another one of the many 'red herrings' that this issue has thrown up.

After many hours of testing, changing a parameter, retesting, changing another parameter, retesting, etc, etc, I've come to the same conclusion as Ian-mLMC and JN- that VP18 isn't reading the 'Favorite Plugins' files when it launches. If favourites have been defined, it actually saves the data in the files on exit (the file size increases), but because it doesn't read the files, when VP18 is closed down it updates the files with null data. It's very strange that some users aren't experiencing this problem at all. In fact, there was a period when I didn't have the problem. All I did was to uninstall VP18 and re-install it several times in an attempt to get Effects 2 to activate. From then on I've had the problem. I suspect that this will be an extremely difficult nut for the devs to crack. Here's hoping it's something simple and obvious (to them).

Regarding the OP. I've had to uninstall VP18 and reinstall several times. Now I'm in the same boat as a lot of users, my Favorites aren't being saved. I carried out the same procedure as before, running as Administrator, and it hasn't worked this time. So, as many have found, that's a bit of a 'red herring'.I'll keep trying and report back if I have any success.

@jetdv Thanks, but I'd already renamed everything and added 'old' at the end of the folders.I've given up on getting Effects 2 to activate and have re-installed my plugins.

@Robert-Costo Don't you have this tab for the Explorer window? If not, select View/Window and put a tick in the Explorer checkbox, ORyou could select View/Window Layouts/Default Layout and see if that gets you what you want.

@Marco. Thanks for that info. When I was having problems saving the Favorites, I scoured those folders to see if I could see anything that I would recognise, but I couldn't. That's why they weren't being saved. They are being saved now and the folder you indicated is there.

Works as it should for me. I'll scour my preferences to see if I can spot something but as far as I know, I haven't changed anything from default that could cause your problem.

@JN- That's a pity. We could do with someone at VCS telling us where these Favorites are saved so we can verify whether they are indeed being saved.

I believe these were introduced in the days of the 'touch screen' interface and were ditched in the version after that.I'm glad they have been re-introduced.

@JN- I had this problem and it was very frustrating. I ended up getting the 'Favorites save' to work by the following steps.First, edit the desktop shortcut (Properties/Shortcut/Advanced) to make VP18 run as Administrator.Launch VP18 from the shortcut.Declare your favourites.Close VP18 down and then relaunch it.Favourites should have been saved.Edit the desktop shortcut to remove the tick in 'Run as administrator' (Properties/Shortcut/Advanced).Launch VP18 again and the Favourites should still be there. This worked for me. May have been a Windows permissions thing. Hope it works for you.

Crashes when I try to add an MP4
@Ralph-Barlow I've downloaded your file and added it to Movies Studio 17 Platinum with no problem. So, whatever the problem is, it's not the software.Try doing a full reset and see if that cures it. Hold the Shift and Ctrl keys down whilst double-clicking on the desktop icon. Select Clear cache when prompted. Most custom settings will require re-establishing after this operation.

@Adrian-Trinidad The answer is, yes. You will need your serial number to activate the installation. If you don't have it, you will need to login to your account at Magix and go to the My Products section where you will find your serial number.

@Andy11111 The recommended method is to prepare in DVDAS and burn the iso file (in the case of a Blu-Ray) to a Blu-Ray using a proprietary burning application, for example, ImgBurn.

@BigJohn Your welcome, thanks for getting back to us. That's the way I have my setup, but with the preview window running on my second monitor. I did it this way because some of the plugin interactions occur on the preview window and it's much easier to carry them out on a big window instead of the normally small window.

@BigJohn Instead of using the 'preview on external monitor' function, why not undock the preview window, drag it to another part of your screen and resize it to fit. You can then save this window layout.
