M-Audio LX4 comes as a 2.1 system and can be expanded with a 3.0 system. Very nice. A little more than your budget, but really worth it! JPF

Those pesky Transwipes are a little tricky. Try this: Place outgoing video on its own track. Set this track's compositing mode to multiply mask. Create two new tracks below it. Place the trans wipe on the new track directly below the outgoing video track. Position as needed. Drag a Video FX > Mask generator > Luminance Mask to the trans wipe. Make the transwipe track a child to the outgoing video parent. Place the incoming video in the track below the transwipe and position accordingly. Add Media generators Solid color white before the transwipe to correspond to the outgoing video otherwise the outgoing video won't show before the wipe. JPF

OT: Broadcast/TV Teacher in FL needed
Simple advice: put cameras in their hands,and send 'em off to shoot. get 'em back, and let them edit. These kids will amaze you. Fun first project, Video Scavender hunt ... send them out to get a variety of shots e.g. worm's eye view, way too close, looking through something, etc. Watch and evaluate in class. JPF

Vegas 7 wishlist
There already is a lock feature, right-click an event, go to Switches, and select Lock. Multiple events can be locked/unlocked as needed. A whole track lock would be a nice shortcut, too! JPF
