Markers in different colors
Yes! As a semi-related note, the fact that the highlights change from yellow to "red" when ripple edit is on is VERY helpful. Even a second choice in color would help - especially if you're using markers for regular things (like every beat...). Just being able to spot another color on a timeline like this would be nice - for now, I literally use the top track to mark sections with a text or solid color event.

Thanks for that - and I'll be sure to check those things out. There is still a noticeable difference between the last two builds in timeline smoothness and playback latency. I know for me, I get the "Windows" driver crash about 4Xs as much as the "Vegas" crash.

VEGAS Pro 20 Build 326 General Thread
The "sluggishness" still continues - not as bad once project hub thing was turned off (I also unchecked the close media option, so everything would still be "loaded up" when I go back to VP20). I wonder if it's some kind of cache thing? I notice that there is a decent "one-Mississippi & change" before playback starts. But if I stop and start at the same point, it starts playing immediately. Move the cursor to a different point in the timeline, hit play - another good second or so delay. It's acting the same as it does when it hits an event with a lot on it (especially time-altered clips) where the cursor starts to stutter on the timeline. Looking at some of the other comments, I can say that it is exclusive to this build - the one just before was working great - though VP20 has driver crashes a lot more frequently than 19 did (which was seldom to never on my system).

After the update, every time I add a video to the timeline and attempt to click on the video in the video track, Vegas proceeds to hang "Not responding" and one of my CPU cores is on 100% utilization. (EDIT: Once I started complaining here, it has resolved itself... after 5 restarts...) Same here - definite, noticeable timeline lag - lots of "waiting for the hard drive to stop running" - it's like the freeze before a Windows driver crash, only it comes back after a few seconds. And, yes, drivers are updated and system was rebooted after update.

Why do we lose this EVERY TIME?
Sorry - I'm talking about this...which I have to rebuild after every "major" update. Just like the track & event button sets will sometimes reset.

Actually, I think there is something else going on - I already have 643 of 19 installed - it looks like 19 "wants to be 20" - I'm somehow getting the 20 update notice when I'm opening 19, even though I've already updated 20. So, I'm assuming if there actually WAS an update for 19, it would be concentrating on that...

I "own" every version from 2-19. I started 365 at VP20. One computer. Have both running, this just happens when I try to update 19.

Vegas Pro 19 crashing since upgrading to build 643
Same here. I had a crash/file corruption in VP20. Screens blinked off an on - you name it. Now, similar things happen in VP19 (643) as well. I hadn't had an issue with 19 at all (it was FAR more stable than 18 for me) until the monitor/driver blitz - now it happens in 19 too. One of the error messages I've seen (couldn't take a screen cuz the whole system was frozen) said something about a floating point error. It kept flickering, so I was unable to get anything more. For some reason, i want to say it has something to do with Thumbnail displays, as it seems to happen when I'm adding to the timeline (from Win Explorer - not VP's) while the thumbs are rendering in the project media window. I've switched that to file view (and limited the thumbs in timeline clips to both ends and center), but I'm not even sure that's the issue. My display drivers are up to date - even though VP19 still lists the current driver in the update help window, though it's already installed. Is it possible that something that "happened" in VP20 could effect VP19 somehow? This is a mess, because it sometimes even messes with other open programs - but it only happens when I'm working in VP - and generally when adding clips to the timeline. HEVC legacy is checked and 3060i is the encoder. Thanks for any help.

20 crashing all the time for anyone else?
Well, I'm back to problems again in VP19 as well, but I'm thinking I might have it isolated to screen capture footage that I did with Movavi (and older version). Those files "flash black" like some files do sometimes. They were also VFR, but I'm not sure that would be an issue. The problems seemed to start when I started using the original footage. I only did that in 20. When I moved to 19 (with an EDL file), it started happening again. I rerendered the originals with the Magix AVC that I always render out in, and replaced them. All drivers are up to date. One crash so far, but it didn't send my monitors into a hissy fit, and the rest of the system stayed stable. So far, so good.

So, I moved back to VP19, and everything seems fine. Open VP20 to check a few new things I had done (to rebuild in 19) and as soon as I started moving around - everything went black again. Closed 20, and everything seems stable again - including inside VP19.The irony of this is, I NEVER upgrade immediately - I always wait, cuz I'm not "in a hurry" for a feature. Then VST3 support comes along... In the middle of a job, so I'll probably wait for the next update. I just don't know how it would wreck havoc on my monitors, but nothing else is giving me any issues.

I just had a whole system-weirdness-thing with my graphics cards. Somehow, reinstalling drivers and rebooting a few times has ironed things out. Very odd... Things seem to be ok now. Yes, I haven't updated - I'm on an i9 / 3060i now. NOT blaming this on VP20 - just sharing to follow up.

OT-Graphics card recommends
Something's wrong there - I was running VP17 on a 1060 and it was fine. I've had 18 and 19 on a 3060 ti. Other than the usual Vegas crashes that seem to happen regardless, I've noticed much better performance - especially in the rendering with the NVIDIA encoding, so the card works fine for me (in a later version).

VEGAS Pro 19 - General Discussion
SeMW Preview Levels drop down in the Video Preview tab crashes my VP19 instantly. I know it's actually not necessary since VP18, but wanted to put this out there to see if it's my system or a general bug.

365 & the update blues?
So my other question is, if I just upgraded to VP19, but want to switch to 365, do I have an option to apply the upgrade price to the 365? If not, then I "own" Vegas and am "leasing" it at the same time? Where can i go to get these questions answered by Magix? I've been all over the customer support center, and all I see are FAQ prompts, and no "still haven't answered your questions?" options to actually communicate with a living person. I just don't want to be down the road, decide to go back to "ownership" and have to pay full price on some technicality that I was unaware of. Of course, I half expect one of the answers I am going to see here is, "365 is soon going to be the only option..."😏

365 & the update blues?
(To be more precise: I still haven't received any notice about the new version. Found out there was a new VP when randomly checking Vegas' website/forum. And later got some mails with ads urging to buy the new VP19) You might have product notifications turned off in preferences - I know I did when the "Don't Show Me Again" option didn't work and i had to deal with a splash screen very time I opened the older version. Is there anywhere where they explain cross-grading? Does 365 "void" previous ownership - or, can you "cross back" without having to pay full price again?

OT: Weird distortion on camera audio input
@Dexcon This is strictly about "why do two condenser mics function differently..."The AT2020 I picked up for YT remote VO recordings for clients (that was why I was "testing" it in conjunction with my camera - one less thing to haul if it worked "just as well" since I had to bring the camera along for host shooting anyway...) No, I generally use the ME66 as my on-camera mic. In the studio, I use an RE20 for VOs.

@Musicvid That makes sense. Thanks for the insights. I didn't know some condensers were "hotter" than others. The only other difference between the two mics is that the Sennheiser has the option of being powered, but I can't imagine that would make a difference. I'm not very educated on what makes mics "hotter than others," so maybe that is why the ME66 doesn't spike the camera directly plugged in like the AT2020 does.

OT: VLC player and ProRes 422 HQ
How would project settings cause the MOV and MP4 to look identical on the VP timeline, but one darker than the other in VLC player? Wouldn't it be the other way around?
