Transfer of SCS serial numbers
Hello All: I was able to migrgrate my old SCS account, but I'm not sure where I can see my SNs. Will it be in My Account/My Software? That area is current not populated.

Rendering To MainConcept MPEG2 DVD Fails
Can you successfully render 10-15 seconds with no FX to MainConcept? Is yes, maybe copy your project into s new project, ghem strip off the FX and see if you can render. That could help you trouble shoot what is happening. Regards, Kimberly

Blu Ray on DVD
@jdw: If you use DVD-A, you will find this capability in Build 124. It quietly disappeared in subsequent builds. I wrote to SCS support asking about this and they indicated it was due to copyright issues. If you search on my name and the following keywords, you will find some discussion on this. If you cannot find it, let me know and I will post a link and/or send you my workflow. BD5 BD9 BD-5 BD-9 Essentially you render in the proper BD compatible format in Vegas and burn the BD to DVD by choosing the right menu options in DVD-A 5.2 Build 124. Be aware the disc may not play on all BD players. In my case it plays on my old-ish Sony BD player. I haven't tried on my new-ish Samsung. It doesn't play on a DVD player. It's kinda cool to put BD material on a DVD, but I echo the advice of others in saying that a BD burner is dirt cheap. You can get a nice USB driven external burner for about $130 from New Egg. Not super fast but works brilliantly. Of course if you have a time constraint for a memorial, you may not have enough lead time. In that case the "BD5" is a good workaround if you are certain the player will play it. Regards, Kimberly

I received a similar email from Polyline. They changed their name last year but I'm having a senior moment and cannot remember their old name. If all else fails how to get video from phone > PC
I use DropBox to move photos and documents to and fro. I don't take video on my phone, but I suppose I could use Dropbox to move those are too. There are size limitations on the free DropBox and of course speed.

NAB: Catalyst Edit to replace Vegas Pro?
See all those empty bubbles in the integrated workflow? Those are going to be Catalyst Color Grade, Catslyst FX, Catalyst Render, Catalyst Delivery, and so on. You buy only the pieces you need. Regards, Kimberly

PAL or NTSC
Hey Dude: I always consider my desired delivery and try to shoot in the format that is closest to that format. In my case I'm in NTSC land and my camera does a couple flavors of NTSC. I have found the renders straight from Vegas look best when I don't change the frame rate during the render. Of course there are good/better/best methods that use external tools and give the users greater control over the render. Good luck with your project. Kimberly

Gain -- Silly Question?

OT:Newblue Flash Remover
I have NB Flash Remover Pro -- it was sold as a standalone package much like the old NB Stabilizer. It does work pretty well in the instances I have used it, although I've only had to remove one or two flashes per clip. I believe it is now packaged with the new bundles. Maybe the Tier II bundles? I cannot remember the name and I don't have a fast connection right now to look it up. I don't know of a freeware flash remover but others may have some suggestions. Regards, Kimberly

OT: For those using Sony tape camcorders
Wish I had known that trick a few years back. If you have something come up that you can't fix yourself, Camera Solutions down on Macadam can do just about any repair. Not cheap but good. In my case it was worth fixing my HDV cams because I had underwater housings for them. The housing cost is typically 3x the cost of your new camera so I always milk as much as I can from my systems before upgrading.

Why shoot 60P?
. . . and somehow it is even a type of 30p for DVD and DVDA does not re-compress it. How can this be? In NTSC DVD-A the "legal" choices are 30i (29.97i) and 24p? I've never tried this with 30p but will run a test later today.

OT: Are we all ready to 4K?
I'm happy when I can get pristine footage of an engine room or a perfectly white balanced anemone. But I would like to "4K" my editing skills. Alas only time and experience will get me that : ). Seriously though I think a beautifully composed, colored, and edited sequence in DV can be timeless. I've seen some close-ups with ultra HD and I don't like seeing all those pimples and pores.
