Play back lagging at 422 10bit
New purchase FX30. I'm transitioning from 8bit to 10bit and want to lean on you guys for some help if possible.Just read through everyone's comments as I'm having a little playback lag with some footage taken. Its not terrible, but I'm afraid to film a full shoot and potentially struggle with the edit. Time is key for me so any support to ensure I'm set before I make the full leap would be ideal. I'm not keen on editing with DR or PP so will hopefully be able to stick with Vegas Pro.If anyone shoots with similar settings in there latest Sony cameras and can suggest any settings for both camera and Vegas to be able to film 10bit 4k , that would be very helpful.Up until now I have been limited to shooting 8bit 4k 25fps, and 8bit 1080p 50fps using the A73 and A6600. For my next gig at the weekend, I'm gona have to use the FX30 in 8bit as this will match my other cameras, however I really want to get away from 8bit and picture profiles and start shooting proper log footage. @Kyle-Ansell As a test to separate decoding, timeline acceleration and encoding the output. Have you tried rendering to a lossless (or near lossless) intermediate like ProRes, MagicYUV, etc.? How'd you get that file Info to share? I've not tried anything to do with Apple ProRes as I don't know anything about it. Ive only ever stuck with H264 as it supports my files best. When get 10bit, i will use H265. Since day one I have always used the same settings everytime I film, edit and render. It just seems that since November 2022 Vegas has not been able to support the projects i make (which again hasn't changed). My work around is rendering the larger films in sections, then stitching them together and rendering again. I'm in the same mindset as bmorr, the software should work as intended and it doesn't make sense to always be looking for a work around. I have contacted support numerous times, but so far the 2-3 day response time is nearing 5 months. I'm sure you can appreciate the frustration, especially when these jobs are time critical. My next project has already been started in Premiere, it just takes me a little longer to edit as I'm not as familiar with it. Just wish support pulled their fingers out and supported paying customers instead of relying on forums to do their jobs

just took everything apart, and put it all back together. The a6600s ive had since they released and I've never changed my settings from the first time I shot on them. Never had issues with Vegas until November last year. Also cleaned the fans now. They looked a mess

This particular edit has 6 tracks 3 footage, 3 audio, split to have no overlaps. With no effects. Full rendered length: 42minutes 48seconds long. Filmed using 2x Sony A6600 and 1x sony a73. 4k 25fps Cine 4 - sgamut3 Cine grade: converted to rec709. Touch ups, then adding a LUT. Main preferences Dynamic Ram preview MAX: 50% of 65443mb (have tried high and low, makes no difference) Rendering Threads: 48 Gpu accelerated: RTX 3070 (have tried off also and its worse) No thumb nails. Proxies created for 4k media: On VST Effects Enable legacy AVC decoding: True (have tried off and its worse) Enable legacy HEVC decoding: False Project properties Native 4k 25fps - 8bit (hdr off) Resampling disabled Render settings Format: Magix AVC/ACC MP4 Final res: 2560 X 1440 25fps Variable bit rate Max 50,000,000 Average 28,000,000 RC Mode: H264_VBR

If all the media is similar just re-encode all of it or you're playing whack-a-mole. Plan b is to render through Voukoder voukoder.org/ Being as you are suggesting I use another software to render footage makes me believe Vegas isn't equipt to handle business related topics. Unfortunately they keep slipping behind and will likely never be able to compete with other NLEs

@Kyle-Ansell Did you also tried to use the latest build available (370)? Yeah I'm on the latest update 370. I'm currently rendering the same film from yesterday, it got to 88% the timer kept going but the current render speed dropped to 0.95fps. The timer reached 00:00:00.00 then it kicked back in again and fps rose to 30-40fps. It went up 1% then current speed dropped back down to 0.98%. The timer reset to 5 minutes remaining. I waited for it to reach 00:00:00.00 once again then it kicked back in again and went up 1%. It's currently sitting at 90% rendered (time elapsed 58minutes 57seconds). While I was typing the above, it reached 00:00:00.00 again and went up another 1%. Currently at 91% rendered. I've paid a yearly subscription for vegas which has been on going for the past few years and have never run into this issue before. Might have to switch back to premiere and resolve as I never had these issues with them.

Vegas Pro 20 (326) Rendering bug
Not seeing a similar issue but look at the frame it stops on and replace that media with a re-encoded one. Use Handbrake or ShutterEncoder for that. I like that out of box thinking however, it's random. Last night's renders stopped at 49%, 62% 76% and even 98% with 46 seconds remaining (45minutes rendered). Then the fifth attempt it rendered all the way. Wasted 3hours last night trying to render, Very frustrating.

VEGAS Pro 20 Build 326 General Thread
Anyone having any issues over the last 2 days? I've had no issues with the update until 2days ago, everything seems really slow. Laggy preview window, laggy rendering, and sometimes rendering just stops. No error, or not responding message, it just stops. Yesterday, after editing I hit render. It stopped at 33%. Had to open task manager to close program. Re open, hit render, it stopped at 3%. Same thing again. I reopen, hit render and it did it, but half the speed it usually does. Another edit this morning, I hit render, it stopped at 65%. I reopen, hit render, it did it but at half speed. Another edit this evening.. im still looking at the render screen as I type. Its at half speed. Average fps 9.55. Info on top of my head: Vegas Latest update Ryzen 9 5900x 12core Rtx 3070 8gb (latest studio driver) 64gb 3200mhz Sabrent rocket 4.0 m.2 (OS and Vegas) Window 10 Project file on Samsung External USB SSD 3x video tracks (a7iii, a6600, a6600 all 4k cine4 footage) 1 audio track (tx660 mp3) Rendering into 1440p 30 minute film, usually this would be rendered in 20 minutes. Currently rendering duration 1hr 13mins. No changes have been made to my project or render settings, and was all fine until 2days ago. Sounds like hardware issues but all my drives appear to be fine from benchmarking. Vegas is the only software I'm having issues with. Very baffled. Other than that, being a user since 14, i'm loving the update and look forward to more colour grading functionality and science. Would be good to see some more camera LUT's such as S-Gamut3 Cine / Cine 4 > rec709.

Very frustrating. I will test the "Create Project Creation" tab turned off and get back to you.

VEGAS Pro 19 Update 5 (Build 643)
Question for all... Before the update, I used to import all footage from file 1. Vegas would auto highlight the imported footage. I would then drop this footage straight to timeline. I would then import all footage from file 2 (sometimes with the same file names but different footage). This again would be highlighted and i would drop it straight into the timeline.Since the update, Vegas has stopped highlighting the imported footage which takes me much longer to know what files have been imported (especially if they have the same file names) and select all required files to drop into timeline.I hope this makes sense to some, but any idea how to fix or solve this?
