POLL - Should MAGIX change the name?
Yes, I think it's a good time to the make the change. I think it would sell better with a more professional name and Vegas users would easily be notified of the change. Vegas is just a silly name compared to most other editing programs.

No luck. I have a brand new system that Vegas has been running pretty smoothly on but New Blue Titler Pro 4 hard crashes it. Can't even get it to open. Using Nvidea 970 with latest drivers.

Photoshop to SVP
Jayster, I use the same .png workaround. For some reason Vegas does not like to close psds even with the option chosen. Once in a while it works but most of the time I have to close Vegas to save my PSD changes. I think this problem started when they added layer support to psds.

All I can say is WOW... I've spent money on this product over the years and never regretted it. Color FX pro is awesome (especially the pro contrast filter).

Have you tried turning GPU acceleration off? Are you using any plugin's like NewBlue that have their own settings for turning off GPU?

I usually use Photoshop which has great text capabilities. I then save out a .png for Vegas. You can also use .psds directly on the timeline but Vegas does not usually let go of them (even with the option selected) so you have to exit Vegas every time you want to save changes in Photoshop.

@Cliff I'm also using Premiere more for stability reasons especially for long form projects. However I've got to say that for videos with movement on stills Vegas is still second to none. Luckly I never seem to have issues with those and find the MXF 4:2:2 codec to work nicely between Adobe and Vegas. Most other codecs including Cineform have level issues when going back and forth.

@ VidMus - Ok I guess I was using Dr Watson in error since I meant hard crash to desktop with the stethoscope symbol appearing. I'm assuming he's the same doctor though ;). No this is a Windows 7 64 bit install from scratch. I skipped Vista and usually reinstall periodically to keep things fresh. I'm sure there's the possibility of a number of things wrong with my system I just never understood why Premiere CS6 runs so darn good on the same computer.

Why does Vegas crash when I render?
I'm using the latest version for the 570 because when I use current Red Giant plugins like Colorista they require them to run properly in Premiere. I know the old driver is recommend for Vegas. Yeah probably due for a system reinstall or some component change. Most of my crashing issues have been related to large long form projects which I understand but I find this crashing and workaround really bizarre.

No this is on any project. It can be DV footage, HDV, XDCAM, photos etc. with no third party plugins being used. It's really strange.

I use Premiere CS6 as well but I've got to tell the transtions in that program are about the lamest I've ever seen. They seem to be from the 80s. Also no reason to get rid of third party developers. Magic Bullet Looks and Neat video come to mind as very valuable additions to the toolbox.

Sony pxw-x70?
It's a nice little camera. I actually had an AX100 first but decided I wanted the pro audio features, better internal menus, more assignable buttons on the outside and picture profiles. The only bummer is the extra price for the 4k upgrade where the AX100 has it included as well as higher bitrates. The audio handle is removable but when attached feels like a permanent part of the camera. If you're looking for something portable run n gun with very good quality and shallower depth of field with the 1" chip it's a nice choice. Keep in mind though that you will potentially have more focus challenges with the bigger chip. It's nothing like a super 35 but definitely more shallow than my EX1. If you don't need the pro audio AX100 is a cheaper option and has 100mbps 4k included for $900 less if you compare AX70 with 4K upgrade.

Vegas 13 Pro Randomly Locks Up
You'll have a bunch of people tell you it's your system etc. but having used Vegas on a number of systems I'm convinced Vegas is just buggy in certain areas and perhaps with specific components. I for example can edit for hours on some projects while others will crash a lot. I also have regular problems with crashing when trying to render. I've found that if I have another program open and click on it then jump back to Vegas I can usually get Vegas to render. Premiere on the other hand gives me almost zero problems on my system. I still prefer Vegas for multi-cam and photo montages but everything else Premiere CS6 for the stability.

Underwhelming GPU Rendering
I never use GPU because in Vegas I get render glitches and lower quality. In Premiere CS6 however it works great.
