Thanks Grazie. Never actually used MM. However on the download page at http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/download/updates/mediamanager it states for VP 8-11. Does this mean it's not supported in 12 or, perhaps, Sony hasn't got round to updating the site. Is anyone else using it satisfactorily with V12?

Importing HMC150 AVCHD into Vegas 12
My Sony HDR PJ26VE saves AVCHD to SD card. I simply connect the camera to the PC and navigate to the correct folder and drag them to an appropriate drive on the PC and then either drag to the timeline or add to media. Isn't the 4GB limit to do with FAT32 on the SD cards?

Multiple fades
I think you can change the Default fade type, but not select and change multiple fades at once. How would you select them all anyway ? Same way as I'd selected them before dragging the fade control. Arthur, that would be ideal if all event require the same FX but I doubt that will often happen. Seems like it can't be done...

OT'ish: A very special video made by me
Hi A wonderful video and tribute and I admire your faith which is something I found lacking when my own son died at birth 20 years ago. The pain never goes but it does become more bearable as time passes. We never had the chance to make any video and only had one photo which I couldn't even look at for some time. I understand your pain and making the tribute is certainly one way of coming to terms with such a loss. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Whites burned out...
Thanks. Had a play with it and it seems to make it a little better. I've now connected the PC to the 40" Plasma, played the files through VLC Player and made the following observations. The rendered file the Level adjustment definitely looked better but I think I need a bit more tweaking. I noticed, though, that rendered video from my Sony PJ260VE was not so 'burned out' as the JPEGs. I then played the original footage and felt that that was a little brighter than it should be so maybe I need to adjust a setting in the camera - white balance? It seems, though, tht all future editing will need the use of the Levels FX. Is this normal or is there something else I can do with both the video footage and JPEGS before bringing them into Vegas?

Whites burned out...
Ahhhh, now... there's a thing... I have no idea what you just said :) Is there a good tutorial or someone who's ready to hold my hand through this? All my previous editing has been straight forward SD stuff to PAL DVD on CRT TVs. I find HD exciting and fun but I have a lot to get to grips with to make my projects appear more 'professional'. Cheers. Edit: Curious to know why they would look OK before rendering. Also noticed that most of my rendered stuff looks burned out in some way. Maybe it's my monitor set up but that doesn't explain why the JPGs look OK in PhotoPlus, etc. Is it worth posting a short clip so that those with 'much' more knowledge than me can see what is going on?

Missing transitions tab
Thanks for replying Willem and I already know about dragging then docking the windows but this is different in that the Tabs just disappeared although there is still the Explorer, Project Media and Media Generators tabs still visible. Actually, it's just happened again and I can see no reason for it. Will have to set back to default layout and try again :(

Vegas Pro 12 released!
With exchange rates of around $1.60 to £ that equates to approx £120. Even with import tax I can't see why it should be over £150 so why is my upgrade over £175!

Distributing DVDs
Ok. Think I slightly misled you with my previous post. Yes, I've rendered from Vegas to mpeg2 720x576 25fps PAL then made an iso in DVDA. For those with PCs and monitors that can handle 1280x720 (probably most of them) I wanted to maintain as much quality as possible for their pleasure.

In Ukraine not many of my wife's family/friends have PCs but they all seem to have DVD players. So If I post an iso online for her brother who has a PC he can burn the DVDs for those who need them. For others he can download the mts file which will contain a 1280x720 50p file. Thinking about it, would quality be reduced much if I were to render to wmv 5 Mbps HD 720-25p Video? Currently 13 minute mts file at 1280x720 50 fps is 2.7GB so perhaps I need render to a smaller file size (mainly to reduce my upload time - I only get around 800Kbps back in the UK_

Currently rendering for DVDA using MainConcept mpeg2 Widescreen video stream at 720x576 Upper field first, 16:9, project settings to best and Smart rendering is off for all events. Remember the source was 1920x1080 50p. I noticed that there were small verticalblack bars each side of the preview window during rendering... is this normal? Also, there were jagged lines which were exrtremly noticable and just as noticable when viewing the final render in VCL player. Should I try rendering to progressive for DVD or have I missed something? Cheers. Edit: When I import the rendered mpeg2 file to DVDA I still get the verticsl black bars each side. I did a test render with progressive set rather than Upper field first and the video did not show on the DVDA timeline. Edit2: Oops.It was always set to Lower field first except when I did a Progressive render. Edit3: Black bars solved by setting 'Stretch video to match output frame size'

But with some simple basic education and showing what the TV 'could' look like once adjusted, well who knows, it may just sway a few peoples preferences. Hopefully. Then your friends and family come round who still don't see the benefits of the accurate settings,moan about how rubbish your expensive TV set is so you reset it to appease them while they're with you ;)

Perhaps these directors are keen to visit each home to ensure that their movies are being watched 'as intended' ;) One problem I find is that if I optimise for a movie then watch a sports event/soap/music video I have to change settings again which, to be honest, I can't be faffed about particularly as the missus doesn't have the same 'eye' as me so often doesn't like the setup I've chosen. I find it much easier to set things s an sort of average for all types of viewing. But that's just me :)

Thanks everybody for your suggestions. I have used deform to make the 2nd event more or less match the shape of the pond. JohnnyRoy. Thanks for the tutorial. Off to Crimea tomorrow so may set up some shots with the misses to try and replicate it in some way to use as an intro. So much cool stuff we can do here.
