Thanks. Anybody in the Foothill Ranch, CA area will now note that they are "out of stock". It looks like I got the last five. Printing out the web page is advised. Mine rang up as $19.95, and they had to manually discount each one.

OT: BlueRay players break the $300 mark
"This kind of thing will kill optical disks completely:" I don't think so. My understanding is that the Roku box has some memory, but not that much (no hard drive). It is for streaming. So far there is no HD, although they say there may be some in the future. (Also keep in mind that all HD is not delivered equally, as a comparison of DirecTV vs. BluRay would attest.) I think this box will be great for folks who currently enjoy the "Netflix download and watch on your PC" offering. It will be a convenient way to get that same content onto their TV screens.

I was under the impression that you could not purchase (legitimately) Vegas Pro 8 without DVDA. I would double-check with that dealer to see exactly what you would be getting.

"Does anyone know if any of this applies to the Studio version?" Per the press release: "...DVD Architect 5 software will be available as a free downloadable upgrade to all registered Vegas Pro 8 users..." I believe this applies to Pro 8 only.

OK, so what happened at the SCS NAB party?
No pictures here (and nothing scandalous to report either). There were people taping, and there were interviews afterwards with Vegas users to be put together later and shown on the web. If I heard correctly, the cool news was 64 bit Vegas to be a free upgrade to current Vegas Pro users. I believe 64 bit and 32 bit projects would be interchangeable? DVDA5 will be a free upgrade to 4.5 users. New features include BluRay authoring. I'm sure somebody will come up with a full report later...

Emergency Help Needed Tonight!
Usually (via the remote) you should be able to toggle between several different modes. One may completely stretch everything, one may zoom and crop the top and bottom, one may just stretch the edges. You'll want the one that doesn't do anything, probably called Normal or Natural. If you've got a few minutes, just start then pause your video and toggle until it looks right (bars on the sides). Hopefully it'll come up right the first time and you wont' need to do anything. EDIT: Sorry Cheno. Didn't mean to step on you.
