Critique my new Dell System for Vegas!
I've been using a Dell 8200 for 2 years with Vegas. I have an additional 120 gig HD for video capture and editing and never had a glitch nor a dropped frame - sometimes capturing an hour or more at a time. Started with Vegas 3 LE and now on Vegas 5 +DVD Arch. I do a lot of custom intros and graphics work with many, many layers and 3D effects and Vegas just keeps cranking them out. Once in a while preview gets a little flaky with so many effects and moves going on at the same time, but that's probably due to this old 2 gig processor.

OT: What's Your Handle...(Or Username)
After leaving the Hollywood rat race as a Director of Photography, I formed a company making custom audio equipment for the film industry and much of it was built around op amp circuitry - hence - OPAMPMAN.

Boris Graffiti Ltd. Problems
I too have struggled with Boris and find the interface less than intuitive. May I suggest a great little program - I haven't tried rolls yet but I think you could do them - IMPACT PLUS 5 from www.serif.com. I have been using their software and especially their drawing programs for years. Their Draw Plus makes a great title program and IMPACT PLUS 5 can do extruded text. In Impact you can animate the lighting, the letters, the colors, the camera position, etc and export as AVI files. You can do true 3d motion on the titles, change the lighting and just about anything you want since the changes all work off a timeline. It even has a particle studio to create fire, fog, smoke and the like. Take a look at it on the Serif website. It works grat with Vegas.

Rain effect
There's a great 3D program called Impact Plus 5 from a small English company named Serif. It has particle effects for creating rain, snow, smoke, fire, etc. I haven't tried rain, but it might do what you want. You can adjust the particle color, transparency, lighting, source, size - virtually everything about the particles. In addition it makes very good extruded 3D titles with motion and will export in uncompressed AVI format.

TRV900 problem?
JCF - These are hum bars, probably. Usually caused by a broken shield (ground) or from having two pieces of equipment plugged into outlet with different grounds or neutrals on the power.
