HELP Magic Bullet HD Looks Now Missing from VP8 :(
If MB was on disc 5, you should be able to install just MB and not have a problem. Use the explore feature for the disc and see if it's not a separate .exe file or, on the splash screen for the 5 install there may be a choice to install "additional" software. Kent

I'm not sure that I can solve your problem, and I only go back to version 7 currently installed on my PC (removed 3, 4, 5, and 6). But, if MB was installed with an earlier version and that version no longer exists on your computer, MB probably won't show up. I'm not where I can look right now, but I'm almost certain that whatever version of Vegas came with MB, there was a seperate disc or download site to get it. I think you're right that it was version 6 and I believe Boris Graffiti came with it also. I'm pretty sure I made a disc with MB on it so if I ever got into a situation like you. Is it possible you did the same? Since you no longer have the earlier versions and did a clean install of 8, I wouldn't expect MB to show up. EDIT - just checked and it was Vegas 5 that came with MB and I'm pretty sure it was a D/L. Kent

Semi OT: De-Essing - How do you do it?
Rick is correct...there is a pretty good de-esser in Vegas and Sound Forge. Not sure which one it came with because it shows up in both. But it works and is under the Multi-Band Dynamics fx/filter. Kent

DVD-RW media
FWIW - My father recently gave me a pancake of 50 Memorex discs because he said they "wouldn't work". I gladly took them just to record data files or quickie projects that didn't need printed discs. They would not record on my internal or external Pioneer DVD burner or my external Sony stand-alone DVD recorder. I always got an error message "This disc is not recordable". Back to TY discs.

"so what about the render method. Is it better to render to AVI and let DVD ARC compress? Is there a benetif or superior method?" Personally, I ALWAYS let Vegas do the mpg render for a DVD. You have so much more control over the render and the AC-3 audio files. I believe you'll find many others agree. Kent

SOT - Autosave Script
Thanks for the reply Edward. OK...it's hard to tell if it's backwards or forward. I name the project with the date and time I start (for biling purposes) and then have the script increment the time every 10 minutes. The one for which I currently have the veggie has the AM-PM incorrect. According to properties of the file (and this is correct), I started editing at about 12 Noon yesterday. and the autosave time stamped everything as AM until about 12:55 PM. I left the file open, stopped editing for a while and when I started back, the first time stamp was 1:45 PM - which is correct. The computer clock is correct, right time, right time zone, not changed. The only thing unusual is the time stamp from autosave gets the AM-PM incorrect on this particular project. On some previous projects I had it change from, say 3:15PM in the afternoon and stamp the next save 3:25AM. However, when I look at the project property, the time is correct. This is very strange and wish I could tell you more about anything weird I was doing but I can't think of anything. Kent

10d does not render AVC
Step 1 - see 'sticky" post #3 above and fill in your system specs. I was having a problem with Sony on AVC on Vegas 10c (and think others were also). However, when 10d became available I have been able to render a bunch of AVC files for You Tube using Sony AVC with no problems at all. Kent

Mark - Just tried it with a bunch of HDV clips on XP 32bit SP3. No problem doing exactly as you say. Don't have a 64 bit machine so I can't test that. Kent

Well...thanks for the replies, folks. I got it to work but everyone left out the step to right click on the loop region and SELECT the loop region. Then it works if I right click and drag to timeline. Also, Peter, don't see the dotted lines in 10c or 9e but the other way works. Thanks, all. Kent

The most frustrating thing about the trimmer to me was the "improvement" they made around version 7 or 8. When I started using Vegas 3, you could punch in IN and OUT point on the trimmer and add that portion of the clip to the timeline where the cursor was located...a lot like old analog editing. In the "Improved" version, you type in the "IN" and OUT" points and it adds the segment from the "IN" point to the end of the whole clip, ignoring the "OUT" point as far as can see. Kent

OT: Windows XP (SP2) Anyone still running it?
I had some work done on my XP Pro SP2 computer last year and the shop had to reinstall the OS. They updated it to XP Pro SP3. I wasn't happy but could never tell a difference EXCEPT for one thing - the firewire. Firewire connectivity on SP3 seemed more fluid and reliable. Before, on SP2 I always had to futz with the firewire to get it to work properly but now on SP3, I don't. FWIW Kent

This certainly won't help your problem, and it has been discussed many times here. But, I strongly suggest you use disc to which you can print directly and not use labels. They can cause a multitude of problems. Kent

HELP - .VEG File Ovewrite Fiasco (.restored. veg)
Sorry, Philip. I feel your pain and have no solution for you. However, for the future, I can't imagine starting a big project without using Ed Troxel's script for autosave. I usually set mine to save every 5 minutes depending on the complexity of the show. When I finally get through, I save the project with the correct name and FINAL in the title then delete all the veggie files from autosave. It sure saves a lot of pain. Kent.

Zooming on Timeline
Richard - works as expected here using a Kensington wireless mouse. Never had this problem. I use this feature all the time. Could it be something in your mouse configuration? Kent

media generator -solid color
Not sure exactly what Grazie is hitting at, but if you insert a keyframe at the beginning of the solid media on the TL and one at the end, it does change to match the new color.

As best I recall, newer versions of Vegas veg files are never compatible with previous versions, although there are workarounds and ways to go back. But, basically, once you open and save them in the new version, you can't easily go back to an older version; Kent

Strobe and Jagged video on motion after rendering.
I've said this before and I don't know why it works or if it will work with your footage...I do a regular 1/2 hour music video show. The original footage of the host is shot in HDV and some of the music videos I receive are in SD. I render in Vegas as a DVDA video stream in SD for broadcast. If I don't uncheck the box on project properties that says "Adjust source media to better match project or render settings" I get exactly what you describe. If I uncheck it, all is fine.

10b crashes with psd files

Is there any point in a real steady cam
There's a place for everything and the Steadycam has its place. I used them back in the late 70's with film cameras and to this day, my back has not recovered. All the weight gets transferred to the lower back and it is a killer after a while.
