I looked around, Roger, but am hopelessly lost in this issue because I just can't find the cause of this serious defect. If 21 wouldn't be showing a far superior crispness to 20 then I would just go back to 20 and ask for a refund but I can't give up, now that I have got a taste of what's so good in 21. As many of you must know, I am a 2D animator and in this particular feature film many of my scenes are rendered in simple pen&ink style lines with no colors. Crispness is a big deal for me. Anyone else have an idea how to make the image play both in the timeline and on the external monitor? does this work for everyone but me? Not impossible so I'll try anything anyone shoots down at me. Edit: When I drag on the timeline , both images are in sync but as soon as I use the transport bar or just hit the advance bar I'm stuck, but (and I repeat) when I just drag my cursor across the timeline that too shows the timeline moving in sync with the External monitor.

I have my new V 21 running now (thank you again, Roger) and am just at the beginning of setting up what I need, but first of all, I like everything that I can see so far: the crispness of the picture and the smooth playback. I have a question now: Is there a way to import my window layout settings from V 20 to ease the chore of setting everything up from start again? And just a simple question: where should I look for my video preview settings, such as; where is the setting to open an external full screen preview window?

Could someone please give me some clear steps to follow to install V21. I've been trying hard and silently but can't take my failure to complete the software's installation anymore. Every time I am congratulated for completing the installation and double click the new 21 icon expecting to see the new version open up ready to play, all that happens is that the installation starts all over again, ending with Remove the product from your computer. I've never had such a hard time in hell loading a new program, not to mention just an update. Can I really be the only one?

Verifying that Vegas 365 won't update automatically
There has been a new Vegas update. Two questions: 1. Does it have a new build number? After updating I see nothing new there. 2. How can I get rid of the new update popup? I have downloaded and installed the new update (though how can I tell for sure without a new build number?) I had to deal with this nuisance occurrence before and have forgotten where I finally learned how to do it.

My problem seems to be that Vegas 19 refuses to open my Vegas 20 current WIP. Now what? I could live with this serious error if someone would tell me how long will it take to get Vegs 20 running again. Anyone?

Perform update now
How much time equals "later"? I have experienced the same issue as noted above.This happened after updating several times so I followed the update's instruction to reload from browser which ended with a crash as well. In the end I went back and simply opened Vegas, ignored the update announcement since I went through the process at least 3 times, maybe 4 X. and all went well, hopefully with the new update which there is no way of telling since the build number remains the same and I have no problems when comparing my current work with the update issues. 🙂

@Dexcon My wife was horrified when she heard of this and made me take it off. A day later I can't remember a single one of the several reasons she gave but they all sounded valid. The hidden egg metaphor reminds me of the time I opened the then new editing software DVPaint and during the opening operation I got a hidden message from a developer which said: "Your mother hates you" ... I had to laugh because it was true as long as she lived. Once I opened that message no one else ever got it...

@ James - Ollick The animation program is TVPaint, or TVP for short. It is made in France and specializes in hand drawn animation. It just celebrated 20 years of life and I have been a beta tester from almost the beginning.

Thank you Dexcon. The computer was custom built for me years ago so I will pass this on to my IT who takes care of such things for us. Otherwise I fixed my current issue (the blacken events) by going to an earlier backup (I make lots of backups as I work because I have to draw every frame) and this solved my current problem (and a few other ones I hadn't even noticed before) so all is good and I thank both of you for responding. As for my signature, that is a little joke here and if someone would use it I would instantly know where it came from because progressing age has destroyed my handwriting and I could never make such a good looking signature anymore (it was already about 20 years old when I applied it here -- I think). Actually I can't barely write anything by hand anymore, although strangely I don't have that issue when I draw. For those interested in this phenomenon, it has been well documented in shorts about famous and very old painters who can't even lift a coffee cup to their lips but as soon as they have a paintbrush in their hands the aging brain produces a small miracle and guides the brush with continuous, unchanged dexterity. I was 87 a few days ago. I have just started my forth hand drawn feature which baffles me as well. Once more, I thank all on this forum for tolerating the other ravages of aging I suffer. By the way, the dark events were caused by my animation software and not Vegas. Sorry for that, I love Vegas (but I love that animation software too) who knows how and why tolerance can only strengthen with advancing age as well.

VEGAS Pro 20 Build 370 General Thread
After installing build 370 my timeline has become extremely dark, particularly the darker scenes have become near black whereas the bright scenes barely show any degrading. I would like to revert to build 326 since I am working on a tight deadline. How is it that done? I am on Vegas 20.

O.K. I think I get it. Vegas will indeed open the last project but with Welcome Screen opened as well, which I must close manually to continue my work. If this is how it is designed to work I suggest that a better way would be to have the last project open without the Welcome screen once the user elects to deselect the screen. Right now it amounts to a useless redundancy.

Under Options\General Preferences I have checked Automatically open last project on startup but nothing opens upon opening Vegas 20. Note: I have selected to uncheck the Welcome Screen. Is that the issue?
