OT: What was YOUR first personal computer?
My first experience with computers came via Honeywells compliments of the US Army. We had it all, Winchester platter drives, image a 4 drawer filing metal cabinet and you get the picture of the size of those things. We also backup up the data on tape drives, we had about two of them, real nice equipment. This was about 1982. Soon after, the Commodore 64 was being sold at KMART and it was my first personal compuer followed by a 386 later on.

OT: Cooling
I changed from conventional to water cooling. It has made a difference in terms of heat and fan noise. The water cooling systems are better designed and easier to install these days, so may want to look into water cooling and consider it as an option.

Vegas Replaced the footage
Same here. Vegas was replacing clips just about every time I would open the program up to edit. Im stumped on this one.

Is everyone cool with 10.0d so far?
For me, vegas 10 crashes constantly you'd think I was in an Adobe Premiere world. Yesterday, despite saving periodically, for fear of losing any work I had painstakingly created, I thought things were cool. So I closed Vegas and today I opened the program and I get the Vegas had crashed error and If I wished to save the restored file. The thing was that vegas had not crashed before I closed and saved all my work. So when i opened the file so that I could restore Vegas had not saved any of my previously saved work! I had put in about 3 hours of time in creating several effects with detail and I have lost all the changes! Right now as of this very moment I'm am really pissed with Vegas. I do not trust this little piece of software anymore and in my opinion it has gone by way of Adobe Premiere of constant crashes. What happened to Vegas? It used to be highly reliable and now I cannot trust anything I churn out in this program.

White Balance Plug In
Frederic, Wouldn’t you know! I uninstalled Vegas Pro 10d and reinstalled 10c and the plugin works like it should! I will keep using the plugin and I will be buying it soon. A real solid, extremely useful tool for Vegas Pro. Sincerely, Rene

Need help & not sure why im stumped
First, thanks for replying to my post despite this being a weekend. it is greatly apprecited. I have just one more question, I intend to place the edited contents to dvd for viewing on a regular television. The footage was captured on mini dv tape as you may well know, I am not sure why you would advise to render as AVC. Shouldn't I render as an NTSC DV instead or something similar?

Here in Deep South Texas is where you can get the real deal in terms of Tex-Mex food...and I don't mean San Antonio! We're talking the Rio Grande Valley here my friends. It's been my experience that the longer one travels away from the Valley the more difficult it becomes to get real tasty Tex-Mex food like Carne Guisada, Picadillo, Mole' and other dishes associated with our region. A shill you are at best. I have Vegas 10 on Win 7 64 bit and it is working superbly. My guess is you are not well acquinated with computers in general. Learn the basics before you mouth.

Captured footage came out strange
Hello! All, I found the cause of my capture problem! It was my fault and not Vegas Pro. Apparently, I thought I was being slick when I decided to make some changes in bios which I thought would bring something extra to my computer's performance. What I did was change the hard drive settings and enabled 32 bit date transfer rates. Like I said, I thought I was being slick and in the process screwed with my system's integrity. I backtracked exactly what I did that could have caused this misery and everythig came together when I disabled 32 bit transfer. My hard drive's manual says it can do 32 bit transfer but bios said it couldn't. Don't believe every hype these hard drive manufactuers tell you. Thank you all for assisting me through out this ordeal and I'll keep saying that most of the time, Vegas may not be the contributor of the problem you may be experiencing. Many times, it comes from our own end.

Captured footage came out strange
Thank you all. I'm thinking that the footage is perhaps corrupted all around, perhaps the tape was too old. Also, it was very humid and hot outside, about 95 F. I did let the camera acclimate for about 10 mins prior to use. I'll shoot some more video, perhaps with another tape and see if Vegas can handle it. Also, there were too many drop frames so I'm thinking the video tape was damaged, or tape head needs cleaning. Thanks for your help, I gave up on the the footage altogether.

Tom, I try both methods and I get repeatable crashes. I'm thinking that I will uninstall Vegas and einstall? Ill check if there are any leftover files, perhaps delete them before I reinstall? This is bugging me to no end!

Sorry to persist! Musicvid, Guys I understand what you are saying, I have not made ANY adjustments. I did exactly as instructed but Vegas keeps crashing when I open the clip. I believe the error in question is related to the aviplug.dll ?

Actually, I tried that setting on Vegas before importing to the timeline and vegas refuses to correct the footage to 29 fps. Vegas uses "NTSC DV 24p (720x480, 23.976 fps)" pulldown as the properties. When I try to use another template, something like "NTSC DV (720x480, 29.970 fps)" Vegas crashes as I try to import the media that way. Dunno why Vegas crashes with this pulldown. Also tried "NTSC Standard (720x486, 29.970 fps)" and again Vegas crashes. What gives? Tape was bad? I have had this tape in my cabinet for like 2 years now. Could that be the problem?
