OT: What does After Effects do that VP8 can't?
Vegas is, to a certain extent, an effects package. If you are creative enough, you can use Vegas can churn out some cool effects. Being creative is the key and if you can see Vegas as a photoshop like program, you can do some amazing things.

OT: FREE Antics 3D storyboard animation software
I got the program and then I had to download the other files needed to create things like characters, props, buildings, etc. get ready to download yet more files once you get the program.

CompUSA folds up its tent
My younger brother, who currently works for them at the corporate office, keyed me in that they would in all likelihood were going to fold in a couple months. Well, it finally happened but I'm a little pissed. they were the only "computer store" where I could go around here for the little thing, like cpu fans, cables, etc, just to avoid going to Radio Shaft.

OT going online with editing machine
Get Avast...its free and it updates itself. I my machine all the time to edit and whena suspected virus tries to get in, Avast kicks in like a charm.

WOT: Zeitgeist the movie
"Christianity or Catholicism? BIG difference!!!" In the theological sense yes. What both have done to humanity no. Both are responsible for countless massacres through the centuries, anybody remember the Crusades? Anybody remember how the North American colonies got started? What they did to untold thousands of natives? Both religions got their hands dirty on that last one. Please don't debate this one with me, I'm a serious student of history and your rebuttal would leave me to think otherwise of you.

I guess you don't recall, or never heard off, the LSD experiments conducted by the CIA, for starters? When one mentions our government's complicity in assassination's of foreign leaders, the School of the Americas and their war on the indigenous peoples, the phrase "Where do I begin?" certainly comes up. BTW, your statement above leaves one with a low opinion of your logical sense.

Since TeeJay never replied to any of the posts, I am assuming that he is a shill or a troll. I have yet to encounter problems with any version of Vegas, heck I started using Vegas since version 3. If you use your machine to work with Vegas and surf the web, I'd recommend Avast to at least get some protection. Overall, I am sure it has to do more with your machines configuration, including software or bios issues. Perhaps you might have even over clocked your machine beyond the point of stability. I would not blame Vegas as the culprit.

Quality of Vegas Videos Vs. Final Cut Pro
Kenny, I would say your friend bought into the FCP and Apple hype. He probably attended public school at the time when Apple was giving away computers to school districts, like a drug dealer gives away cocaine and heroine to hook and create a "market" for their wares. Also, I don't think your friend has any serious time in Vegas, otherwise, he would have stayed with it. More than likely, the videos he's talking about were bad as a result of bad lighting and perhaps bad options/selections while rendering the files. In all fairness, I am sure both programs crank out good videos, its the end user who selects the best render options overall.

How some others perceive Vegas
Most Mac addicts buy into the Apple clickish, cheesy interface-in-their--products because of the cool factor. Incidentally, the cool factor has changed over the years, what is considered cool now in any aspect defies all logic. I am not looking for approval from geeky-cheesy-FCP users, they can keep whatever world they have going on and live the hard stuff to us.

Yes, I started fiddling around with Rx as well and it is a rock solid piece of software. Very stable, fast, and easy to use.

Scene Detection issue in Version 8
For some reason, I started having scene detection issues since version 7 came out and I had to resort to using Scenalyzer. I have never had a dropped frame issue with that prog.

I must say that I have used Vegas since version 3 and have never encountered a black frame. I truly wonder what could be the source of your frustration.

Vegas Pro 8 officially announced
To be able to use Vegas 8.0 what OS will I need? If I need to buy Vista and a new 64 bit MB to go along with it, I might just pass this up altogether. Tell me it isn't so? Tell me Sony plans to release a Linux based Vegas as an option?

OT: tha 'hood gangsta' video
Unfortunately, the theme of the video is the same as most of the other rap vids out there: the "singer" is always vainly talking and posing for the camera. I am sorry to say, this video joins the many others that cannot get out of the same mold. There used to be a point to music videos, but for the last 10 years or so, we the viewer, have been subjected to the same dumbed down over-and-over crap. Nonetheless, the camera work and colors were great.

Vegas vs Final Cut Pro
Apples did a brilliant thing in terms of marketing their product before they got established. They did it by following the "drug dealer model." Apple donated many of their computers to schools for free, as a gesture of "how a company stepped in to help poor underfunded schools." They realized that the kids would soon learn computing skills on their systems and they in turn would soon pester their parents to buy them one. Create the market need by providing the goods for free. Like going to the hood and giving away free cocaine to get your buyers hooked on the product. Soon, they would come a knocking for more and be willing to pay because they are hooked. In short, Apple created a market by hocking their shit to the skills, creating generation of Apple addicts. It is almost cult like the way some of these people are within the Apple world.

OT: music video i shot recently (CC'ed in Vegas)
Is it just me or just about 99.8% rap videos are of the same mold? i mean where is the creativeness in that? It is always the same thing, people vainly flipping fingers into the camera. That's it. There are no stories being told. I can tune in to MTV and I cannot differentiate between any rap video. Other than that, the color correction was good.

I wanted to trial download the prog but they sure don't even allow that. Looks good, wonder what the learning curve is? On the downside, it is a dongle prog, which kinda sucks.

installed the wax plugin but it crashes from Vegas 7.0. Re-installed but still no dice. Any suggestions? never mind, I got it to work

newspaper reporters are now video editors
Newspapers subscriptions are down, so it comes as no surprise. Maybe if they didn't go along with publishing too much propaganda they wouldn't be in this predicament there in now. People would find good reasons to buy papers.
