Is it worth it to "Send" errors using Vegas 12?
You would be contributing to a database of errors that is examined for failure patterns. If a bunch of users get the same error while doing similar operations, then SCS can look for a fix in a future rev.

OT: Hand-held mic or Lapel Mic
"Could you be so kind to expound a bit on why it's much better? Just to help me understand." It's more consistent and the person who is miked doesn't have to think about it. Frequently telling someone who is not an experienced TV person to hold the microphone properly gets tiring.

The Quadcopter saga continues
The FAA rule enforcement is a civil court, and the ALJ on the first hearing where the Pirker charges were dropped works for the NTSB. Since it's civil and not criminal court, the losing party can keep appealing all the way to SCOTUS. Because it's not criminal proceedings, double-jeopardy does not apply.

What NLE do the folks at Sony Pictures use?
"... people at Sony..." As john said, "Sony" is huge. Sony Corporation owns a lot of smaller companies which are completely separate businesses. As long as the business unit is meeting projections, Sony corp is very much hands-off. This is why Sony Computers can license and bundle Adobe Elements.

United States v. Causby 328 U.S. 256 (1946) was a United States Supreme Court decision related to ownership of airspace above private property. It held that a landowner "owns at least as much of the space above the ground as he can occupy or use in connection with the land". With the latest Pirker ruling by the NTSB, drones are aircraft so shooting at a drone will land you in jail just as quickly as shooting at a manned helicopter. 18 U.S. Code § 32 - Destruction of aircraft or aircraft facilities, states in part: "(a) Whoever willfully— (1) sets fire to, damages, destroys, disables, or wrecks any aircraft ...shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years or both." In fact, just threatening to shoot down a drone could invite problems: "(c) Whoever willfully imparts or conveys any threat to do an act which would violate any of paragraphs (1) through (6) of subsection (a) or any of paragraphs (1) through (3) of subsection (b) of this section, with an apparent determination and will to carry the threat into execution shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five years, or both."

"Typing quadcopter crash into google gives me 38,600 results, on youtube you get 204 000 results" "If they continue to be unregulated, more and more of those crashes will happen over populated areas and injure/kill people." And how many of them hit people on the ground? Injuries? Deaths? Out of 204,000 YouTube results involving crashed quadcopters, don't you think the fear-mongers would have found at least one involving serious injury? ONE? Where is the ACCIDENT history? Where's the blood that justifies all the hysteria to prohibit them? Or to regulate them?

You're gonna hate this: I have Verizon FIOS - it's a bundle of phone, TV and internet for $124/mo. I am paying for 75mbps asynchronous. It really helps that we have a choice of Comcast or Verizon.

OT - Which (non-SSD) Drives Are Most Reliable?
It's practically impossible to answer this question from all of the anecdotal information. The design and component purchases for hard disk drives are constantly changing. The manufacturer will buy components for a million drives at a time and if their failure rate goes up, they change the design for the next million unit run.

I don't think I've ever seen a topic go so far into left field that it's landed on the ten yard line. From the top- The full NTSB said that if it flies, the FAA can enforce 14 CFR 91.13 - Careless or reckless operation. No other use of drones was covered. Yes, a $2,000 drone could carry maybe as much as five pounds of payload with maybe a ten to fifteen-minute battery capacity. Top speed of maybe 40 MPH and noisy as heck. Gary said: "No, this rush to regulate and ban is the result of a handful of sensationalized news stories about the HORRORS of unregulated flying toys." I couldn't have said it better, Gary. Of the many thousands of small UAVs flying, mostly Phantom quadcopters, where's the accident history? A small handful of bruises and abrasions don't rise to the level of accident. (The Federal Aviation Regulations defines an accident as: ... so if you die on day 31, it's not a fatal accident.) Barry said: "If someone is willing to use explosives, then what in the world do drone laws matter to them? Do you really think they would give a d**n what the FAA says?" Unfortunately, this falls into the category of Common Sense which the people crying for laws to protect them from these flying lawnmowers completely lack. Old Smoke- "Here in the US most clubs also ask you to be an AMA member. Such doesn't seem to apply to drones at all." The AMA (Academy of Model Aeronautics) has been historically intolerant to multirotors (even to not permitting them to be flown at their fields), openly hostile to FPV and adamantly opposed to using a quad to take videos for (gasp) profit. Given the AMA's open hostility to drones, I am not the least bit surprised that drone operators feel unwelcome there. And to the OP - " just that the guy was reckless and scared a pedestrian with some kind of kamikaze fly-by. So who knows." Ironic because the pedestrian on the sidewalk was a friend of Pirkers who was trying to hand catch the model. Not an unusual way to end the flight of a four-pound foam model.

Save As Copy media with project woes...
Try saving it to a different drive. Also if you give it an explicit full filespec, then Windows won't try to generate the filespec. To do this, enclose the filespec in quotes. For example "E:\ProjectBackup\Projectname.veg" The folder has to exist and the filespec must be complete.

V13 - couple of minor misbehavings
This may help: When the number of files in the thumbnails folder reaches 255, Vegas can stop responding or display the wrong thumbnail, on no thumbnails. Cleaning thumbnails folder (C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Sony\Vegas Pro\13.0\Media Pool Thumbnails) may help (and it can't hurt since Vegas will rebuild the thumbnails as needed.

Low Memory error: Rendering stops at ~80%
You are looking at the right tool. If your commit limit is creeping up then you may have found a genuine memory leak. Try rendering without the NB effect. If the commit is more stable then you need to ask NB to investigate. If the commit still creeps, I would make sure you have the latest video drivers.

Dynamic Ram Settings
Some years ago someone did a similar test and found the same conclusion - Vegas needs *some* Dynamic RAM for ordinary rendering. His tests showed the sweet spot at 1024.
