He is 100% correct, you can not decry the demise of a company who you refuse to do business with. This is why, in a mature market, the subscription model is not only good for the company, it is also good for the consumer who wants said company to stay in business. So, yeah, if you do not do business with a company you lose the right to complain when the company goes out of business since you are on of the (many) reasons they are going out of business.

The iPhone S does excellent video in such situations (with all the caveats you get with a small sensor, such as depth of field). In certain situations, these are not problems though, you may want a very wide depth of field perhaps. Here is the rub, with the caveats mentioned and in ideal lighting conditions, iPhone S 4K video, scaled to 1080P blows Canon 5D mk iii video out of the water. Better color. Far better detail (without over-sharpening) etc. Again, please note, I am not saying the iPhone is a 5D replacement, far from it, but in some (perhaps extremely limited) situations, the scale tips heavily in favor of the iPhone.

Olympus goes for the IBIS (In Body Image Stabilization) - sadly Olympus is somewhat lacking in the video department. Sony does a combination of in-body and in-lens stabilization, and on the new A7R ii, the stabilization is fantastic, as is the video. Canon has stabilized lenses and that works in movie mode as well. I guess Nikon too.

Basically all of the crash-cams were 5Ds. The video was then up-scaled on post. In a professional environment like that, light is well controlled and "ideal", so phones should work too, and the iPhone 6S, shooting 4K in ideal conditions, blows the 5D (mark ii or iii) out of the water. I wonder how long it will be until Apple comes out with commercials like "Final Episode of Game of Thrones, shot entirely on an iPhone 6S"... (they shut down House, so Apple can't pull a Canon)

They all do This is very true, and there are real-life physics in play that makes it mostly impossible to create phones with good video capabilities in less than ideal situations. A lot of people shoot mostly in "ideal" situations though, and in ideal situations (lots of light) the iPhone 6S v4K video scaled to 1080P blows that Canon 5D mk iii video out of the water :-)

I am only responding to the balderdash that deusx spewed.

Using the Apple analogy, what SCS is doing is as if Apple had taken OS9 and replaced it with DOS.

Partly in desperate attempts at finding a version that was not irrevocably broken (10-11-12 area). For the past few years Premiere has been my main editing system. I'd love for it to be Vegas since I much prefer the Vegas work flow, but that hasn't been possible. CPU acceleration during encoding/decoding is NOT deeply ingrained into the base NLE since just about any rendering software is licensed and therefore runs basically "outside" of the NLE. V-log is not a format, it's more like a color space. Vegas supports basically all formats and all color spaces.

OT: Sony A7rii announced - 4K, full frame, 42mp
I really enjoy my GH4 for video, but honestly, for stills it doesn't cut it. For that I use Canon. The new Sony looks like it will do video (at least) as well as the GH4 (with a few things missing, like C4K). If it does, my M4/3 equipment will probably be on sale shortly after testing the Sony.

New Build 444
For me, the first build of VP13 that I can use is 444, and thanks a lot for this release SCS. Previously adding Film Convert to a clip would have Vegas crash instantly on playback or render, and even not having it there Vegas would crash two out of three times on render on a moderately complex timeline. For 444 I have not had a single crash so far - touch wood.

Don't think they have imported the Panasonic GH2/3/4 video import issue though. On a slight tangent - thanks for the latest release of Vegas 13. I can now use it for my GH4 work-flow with 4K video, and that is the very first release where this was the case. Mainly because I use FilmConvert to grade my video and it would, up until this patch, crash Vegas with 100% reliability. Seriously SCS, thanks for this. I'll now hold off from upgrades for about four years.

Workflow question, Cinescore use
I doubt SCS is waiting for the SmartSound patents, as far as I can remember, SCS licensed those for Cinescore, but still decided to drop the product.

Two years later still disappointed with Vegas Pro

I love the easy way it (theoretically) handles everything and anything on the time line. If I could edit only in Vegas, use Film Convert etc. I would be a happy cutter. Alas, that is not happening. For me, the Vegas 13 saga has been: 1/ Great, my old projects work. Things are finally fine in Vegas land 2/ Add the GH4 to my arsenal 3/ Pooof, Vegas no more 4/ Vegas improves in a release, but not enough to make it work 5/ Vegas gets another update, exited I install it, now it crashes instantly when I go "Render..." So, as of now, I am forced to use PP CC, no matter how much I would like to use Vegas.

film convert Vegas / ofx plugin update
Are you using it as a Vegas plugin or the stand-alone version? I use filmconvert all the time and would love to use it in Vegas, but once i add it to a clip Vegas crashes within 30 seconds.

Import Adobe Premiere Project into Vegas Pro error
Search this forum. Premiere changed from an XML file format to a zipped XML file format. Unzip it and you should be able to import it into Vegas.

Is My Lens Flare Artistic Or Just Annoying?
I really liked the flare in the motorcycle video. The flare is part of setting the mood. Flares fit some times and some times not. To me, and that is entirely personal, flares fit in the typical "sci-fi" movie looks, particularly the desolate, Mad Max, desert kind of scenes where the flare enhances the feeling of dry desert heat. For me the "typical" flare is a band of "survivors" shot from down low, high sun, sweaty brows. The "hero" wipes his forehead and the flare comes in from behind his head and for a short second overexposes parts of the frame. In that setting, to me, the flare enhances the mood that is trying to be conveyed. I was unable to watch the clip discussed here due to the terrible quality of the service through which it was published, but to me it looked like the flare came in what looked like green and lush settings, and if that is the case, to me (again) it would not enhance the intended mood of the shot. To me, any effect or prop or whatever, should enhance the shot and re-enforce the mood of the shot. If it doesn't add anything (even if it doesn't detract) it should not be there. No effects for the sake of the effect, ever, in my opinion (which inevitably will be at odds with other peoples opinion). Even effects that are "natural". If the clip was posted to a service able to actually show the clip I would be able to opine more though.
