Is Magix .mp4 render codec Main Concept .mp4?
Just didn't know if Magix was using an .mp4 version of the MC codec, as the other MC codecs listed are mpeg 1 &2; or if was missing an actual Magix render codec. It looks similar to Resolve's MainConcept AVC when I run it at 80MB/s for 1080P60 which is Resolve's default Comparing default values for Voukoder x264 and Nvenc good settings to Vegas's MagixAVC Nvenc/MC defaults Vegas's results are poor in comparison mostly due to oddly low bitrates.

It's interesting that Resolve defaults to an HD timeline and HD playback for high res clips Yes Capcut does the same, you can change those defaults but it only matches frame rate, not resolution, but potentially unfamiliar users doing comparisions between Vegas/Capcut/Resolve could be comparing 4K/8K Vegas timelines with 1080P Resolve What's also interesting is that the default Windows Media player somehow plays this clip without much cpu utilization and no gpu utilization showing up in Windows Task Manager. Did you possibly play the proxy you created for your 8K30 instead of the actual 8k30 file? My GPU decoder use in the media player is slightly higher than Resolve for the 8K30 HEVC edit: Actually tried the default windows media player(windows10), I get an out of memory error for the 8K30, even though it had 20GB of ram to use. That is strange

@Howard-Vigorita in Resolve the 8K timeline used10GB Vram, getting up to 12GB when playing, so potentially you'll have problems due to your cards 6GB Vram but it would be unrelated to the Nvidia Decoder, more to do with swapping memory between Vram and system memory.

@Howard-Vigorita It's Vegas's implementation nothing wrong with your Nvidia GPU or it's decode. Interesting to see the Arc decoder working better on Vegas though. (8K30 project) You can see by the decode graphs what it should look like when working correctly in Resolve, in comparison with those jagged lines in Vegas which happen when Vegas can't process all the frames and drops them instead

OT - Unclosed MP4 due to blue screen
Many work similar to this, you provide a reference file which uses the same encoding parameters and hope it can restore your file. Only used it twice, worked once, the other time gave a semi playable result but was not a success . Vegas Pro 20 crash when rendering a 5.3K video
If I try 5.3K it will not even begin. I can guess at what you're doing wrong there, encoding to AVC with your hardware encoder, even though there's no such thing as hardware encoding of AVC above 4096x4096. HEVC 10bit decode is kind of broken on Vegas. I'm not getting crashing with these files but you could try turning of GPU decoding by ticking Legacy HEVC and see if that stops crashing for the encoding.

I tried to render 17min 4k video with PC after 20min 2% done remaining 9hours Samsung S23Ultra with CapCut after 15mins finished 4k video 10GB size Capcut will automatically use hardware encoding, with Vegas you need to select a MagixAVC/HEVC Nvenc option, Nvenc being the Nvidia hardware encoder (8K source 8K output) (8K source 4K output)

VEGAS Pro dislike DNXHR codec
Both DNxHR and Cineform playback poorly in VegasPro. Todd-A0 I respectfully disagree with such a broad generalization. I have used Cineform extensively in my workflow for years, and it is buttery smooth in Vegas Pro, even on my previous severely under-powered PC. Disk space on the other hand .... @ChrisD The files were 4:2:2 10bit 4K60 Cineform HD, being ALL-I they should have played fine, I used another editor instead and had smooth playback.

remove black background...keep black on subject
Results with Capcut(free) Auto Cutout , and Vegas(VP21) Smart Mask. Note: Capcut gives a not perfect but possibly usable result but it is only 1 frame, may not do too well with a video of many frames scene due to low contrast between the coat and the black background

VEGAS Pro dislike DNXHR codec
Both DNxHR and Cineform playback poorly in VegasPro. If you have an option don't use them. In Vegas you'd use Grass Valley over Cineform for alpha channel when the requirement is good compression @JHendrix

Artefacts + distorted frames at 8K (MAGIX HEVC) Vegas 21
I read that using Voukoder, it should work. I tried, and it does get rid of all the artefacts. However, the rendered file has trouble playing through VLC, and most shockingly is also much slower (about 4 to 5 times slower than the HEVC codec). You worked out your problem , you were not using HEVC NVENC (via voukoder), the reason VLC would have played it back poorly is because resolutions above 4K for AVC are not 'legal' so hardware does not support it via encoding or decoding. You have to use HEVC as you're doing now. In the meantime, Youtube has downprocessed your 8k to 4k and HD1080 versions, which most people 'can' play, but the quality may have been turned to mush by Youtube's conversion. That's what customers complaint is about. Vegas's trash hardware encoder that they won't fix, Youtube didn't do that, if you're talking about his test file that he linked to. Also 8K is like HDR, it can take 1 - 3 days to process on YT.

There is no preview
It looks like it's auto building a cache, you must have turned that on accidentally. screen is black while building cache. Press cancel in the left hand bottom corner, and turn off the auto proxy creating settings in preferences. I don't know exactly where that is, don't use them, and don't have Vegas here. Frame rate change to digitized 8mm film
So, the clips length will grow on the timeline, but each frame and the number of frames will remain unchanged. It sounds easy, but not working for me. It would be ideal if I could change the play rate to 80%, which would be 20 to 16 FPS. Are you doing the following? If you are and you're getting duplicate frames that would indicate your video is VFR instead of CFR. Vegas is very bad at handling VFR footage, instead of reading all frames available it will duplicate frames. You would have to use a transcoder such as shutter encoder to create a CFR version and bring that into Vegas instead.

Stabilization
@Gid I remember your number plate track, very proficient. I am thinking Resolve's 'guess' may actually be correct, and the bird is shaking what at first looks like a substantial branch that shouldn't be shaking, but then again that's a big bird, so Mocha maybe be keeping a shaking branch stable, while bird artificially shakes instead - that may make sense (bird shakes at around 20seconds) With stabilizers it can be difficult to work out what is introduced synthetic wobble and what is real movement

Like Dexcon, I had problems with tracker, difference between frames is too great, I believe i've seen a tutorial related to this about MochaPro, but currently wouldn't know how to proceed. This is what the Resolve Stabilizer looks like as a comparison, also not perfect

Can you upload the original video instead of your stabilized version. I thought the most obvious thing to do was not to use a stabilizer but use a tracker on the branch. Using your footage the branch stays stable, but your bird is jumping around un=naturally, which I think must be a result of your stablizer. Also the branch is warping. Could also be cmos wobble

Vegas Pro 20 randomly freezes during working on a timeline
@RogerS The AVC transcodes are fine with no video tracks underneath, it's when Vegas has to decode multiple items simultaneously it exhibits this 'overloaded decoder' problem, which has nothing to do with actual physical hardware decoder, it's how Vegas communicates with it. @john_dennis This is Resolve with composite changed to difference for top 2 tracks, you can see it then behaves like Vegas because it must decode all 3 tracks, but it only does that when it needs to. Also you can see what the GPU decoding should look like, decoding goes up, but doesn't overload and spike like Vegas does causing the dropped frames. I"ll check out those old threads, they sound interesting

The latest drivers and NVIDIA selected in GPU acceleration. 4) https://1drv.ms/v/s!AvZwodqPRij3hYU1E4ah9oNK6__66g?e=ExbVv7 All phones encode in variable frame rate so if an editor can't edit such material, it's for the editor to be fixed, because the way phones record isn't changing. I was looking at your file and noticed Vegas will read all tracks underneath it even when there's no reason to do that, so combined with Vegas's poor GPU decoding it multiplies the problem by decoding tracks underneath which can't be seen and do not contribute to output. In this comparison with Resolve, Resolve does the logical thing and ignores all tracks that don't contribute to the output. I remember this problem being discussed in VP15, I don't know if 6 years later they never fixed it or the problem has come back. It's becoming more obvious why people complain about poor playback then post the file by it'self, users will report plays fine, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will play fine in a project when Vegas is reading hidden video tracks for no reason. And btw only the top clip is your original file, the 2 underneath are AVC transcodes

A Few thoughts about AVC Legacy (compoundplug.dll).
And it's Interresting that compoundplug.dll still have power and good performance in some videos files formats. If your CPU is powerful enough it's often as you described a less laggy experience than using GPU decode, which never should be the case. As you've mentioned they've had 6 years to fix these GPU decoding problems, and so far haven't, I'd like to believe they'll have the problem fixed in 7 years but as far as I"ve seen they don't even acknowledge there is a GPU decode lag problem which isn't a good sign.

A Few thoughts about AVC Legacy (compoundplug.dll).
@RogerS Yes, the performance is better in 19, 20 and 21. But, the laggy and stutters (sometimes weak, sometimes strong) still happen using So4compoundplug.dll I can give you an old technical answer from an ex Vegas user: ------------ Back in the i386 days, there was a 386 CPU what did not support higher math functions well, so they marketed a “Math Co-Processor.” This was basically a dual processor configuration, where higher math functions would be handled on the fly by the most capable device. OpenCL and rendering in Vegas works in a similar fashion, though not exactly. Even if you have no GPU enabled in Vegas, Vegas is still working in OpenCL for timeline acceleration. Your system CPU has virtual OpenCL processor, and Vegas uses this under normal operation. Adding the GPU to the mix allows for a dual OpenCL processor configuration. Vegas then is suppose to handle the pixel math by understanding there are 2 processors available to work the problem. If your GPU is massively faster than your CPU, you GPU will not seem to be utilized much. Conversely if your GPU is to weak, but supports the OpenCL functions, calculation timing issue will look like Vegas is not using the system effectively. Throw on top of that the fact that the GPU and GPU memory is being shared to work the displays. Working in FP32 mode with GPU, you should see an improvement and greater utilization of GPU with effect. This is mainly due to FP32 math is more complex even for the CPU+GPU combo. The GPU does handle floating point math faster than the CPU alone. If calculations cannot be completed in time, frames are dropped, and the next frames are rendered. This calculation timing issue is why Vegas will drop frames, and do so not seemingly using all system resources. ------------ He seems to be blaming people's GPU's , saying they're not fast enough and that's why Vegas drops frames and lags, but as I say this is an old post, and it may have thought to be true back then. Today with very powerful GPU's we know that isn't true, and Vegas is the problem. The problem still involves GPU's but it's not the fault of the GPU's it's Vegas's poorly opimized code either creating latency or poor/low bandwidth between the CPU and GPU causing the lagging.

@fr0sty I guess that what is wrong is my mocha tracking, when i try to track something small it fails, i guess that its the video quality that is giving issues since its an old video I told you what to do , I showed you what to do. You don't want to use mocha, you want an AI re-framer, Vegas doesn't have one. Mocha will lose track whenever it can't see your face clearly, either because you turned your head or even if your hand goes infront of your face. It's not at all suited to what you're doing with multiple cuts and maybe 10 - 20 minute video, you want AI based reframing.

Moving video behind of a mask
I don't know exactly what you're doing, but I"ll assume you're playing a game, while recording yourself, then editing them together for a short highlight video with facecam. If that's the case you could export your edited face camera track full frame, import it to the free PC version of Capcut, use auto- reframe, then exported the reframed video back into vegas , resize and mask it with a circle and place it in corner of your video. Only problem I could see is if timing is not perfect and you get some drift when importing it back into Vegas. Capcut has limited preset encoding frame rates and I don't think you can add a manual frame rate of your choice.
