If you use Continuum Complete, can you test DenoiseML in Vegas Pro 21?
It's problem looks obvious, it's cycling between CPU and GPU, but the amount of CPU it needs is enormous. I think @Gid has 32 CPU cores and even he's getting 100% CPU spikes, so will be much slower for the rest of us. GPU use is constrained, a bit like Topaz, but Topaz seems to be able to run CPU and GPU processing at the same time, and doesn't need the same amount of CPU although I"ve heard Topaz will happily max out a 13900K

I don't really see much of a difference, and no great change with CPU or GPU use, is your GPU or CPU maxing out with chromakey?

I created a Vegas GPT assistant
I told capcut to storyboard an ad about Vegas Pro 21. It seems very generic and doesn't really know what it is, except that it's a video editor. There is an amusing case of a lawyer who attempted to use a chatbot as a paralegal and it literally invented case law (the citations he asked for were themselves fabricated) so I wouldn't put it in a high stakes situation. Capcut generated script again:

@andyrpsmith I've noticed the new decoder uses a lot of Vram, but maybe it's like gaming where there is a difference between reserved and used Vram, and it's just reserving too much. Example a 5.3K GoPro clip uses 21GB Vram, SO4 uses 11GB, but is there any advantage at all in it using 21GB, is it going to play back better than someone with 8GB or 12GB GPU Vram, you'd like to hope not, and if not, I'd like my Vram back 16GB is a good amount of Vram, and both 4070ti super and 4080 super has that.

Vegas Pro 21 stutters preview constantly and also crashes.
@Justin-Oakley The new GPU decoder doesnt work correctly, it can't play more than 1 file at a time without lagging, a transition requires playing 2 video files at a time so won't play smoothly. I"m speaking about your Go Pro HEVC files. If you loop the transition enough times it will eventually play but it's not playing live, it's playing a cache. Compare how long it takes to cache that transition to how long it takes to cache a single piece of video of the same length, that's the problem. I don't know why you have the same problem with your 1080P AVC especially using the Legacy AVC decoder. Maybe it's not the same problem, your AVC should be able to smoothly play a basic fade transition, but a BCC plugin transition won't necessarily be able to be played back in real time, it may be too computationally expensive.

@andyrpsmith SO4 GPU decoder doesn't work correctly with many file formats for Nvidia decoder, nothing to do with your 1080ti the new GPU decoder version of mxhevc can't play more than one file at once so is broken.

Remove motion blur from interview footage?
I had a look at your video, it's main problem seems to be that it's been shot at 12fps, or at least the version you uploaded. You could try re-encoding to 12fps, using optical flow to get back to 24fps, Vegas alone may be fine for that for that (24 unique frame version)

It's called Topaz Video AI The software is more like alpha release, less than a beta release, it's very low quality software unfortunately Try the trial version and maybe others have a better or free option that does similar

With VP20 I do not get any GPU decode even though it's turned on, with VP21 it uses the new decoder and it does decode. You don't have any GPU decode with VP21b187 when you should with your P6000. I think that's like your 10 series GPU's eg gtx1070,1080. They should work fine

Try this https://github.com/N-V-R/ExtractMotionPhotos/releases For me it extracts a HEVC video, but I am using HEIC picture format, It would make sense it uses HEVC even if you're using jpg to keep file sizes small

I also don't see the artifacts when doing a differential between source Prores422 and Vegas AV1, so either differential doesn't pick it up or in my case It didn't create artifacts in the 1 example I tried.

That is not the case with Davinci resolve studio. He needs to fix his computer, Like RogerS said, are you using VP21b187 and if so what decoder is in use, and post mediainfo for your file. If it's using the new Vegas HEVC GPU decoder I would expect it to play fine on any half decent hardware. I did notice it won't play 6K smoothly with new decoder on Best/FULL, however it does play smoothly at Best/half which is a really good compromise

@Howard-Vigorita Interesting I have one of your lossless clips, I can try that another time. Also, I messed up with the VMAF and also a differential composite video I posted. As I"m using Vegas less, and I never use the internal codecs I forgot Vegas (internal) doesn't match frame rate of project automatically, so the Vegas AV1 information was completely wrong. I updated the Vmaf and deleted the differential video

@Howard-Vigorita Here's AV1 encoding from Voukoder and Vegas's internal version. Also tested with Voukoder, Vopukoder Pro, QsvEncc64, and ffmpeg, which allow selection of much faster qsv_av1, and that's good too. Unfortunately there's still a Vegas quality hit using any 3rd party render plugin, including FrameServer. So I don't consider that an option till Vegas opens up the pipe it gives render plugins. Very controversial statement that needs to be peer reviewed.

@Howard-Vigorita The comparison here was about defaults, argument I was making was default Vegas bitrates were too low, they perform much better at higher bitrates. I compared Voukoder X264 , and Voukoder H.264 Nvenc using their default 'recommended' setting. I use a Prores422 video of a complex scene, a boat on the water with waves and ripples, something compression doesn't like very much. I don't see the degradation using voukoder that you do, the voukoder scores are higher, but I am not verifying results on a large TV as you're doing. Do you feel it's impossible to get VMAF's in the 90's from Voukoder, and if so, where could I be going wrong?

@Howard-Vigorita Can you see the difference in quality with your eye or are you just going by benchmarking software? I've noticed before you getting VMAF's in the 70's while I was getting values in 90's. I suspected you were doing something wrong.

AV1 encoding from a NLE doesn't seem to have much of a point currently. I thought maybe for discord as a playable video format. Discord(free) only allows 25MB uploads, so you want as much efficiency as possible, but currently only accepts AVC and VP9 as video formats. The Nvenc AV1 hardware encoder unlike H.264 and H.265 NVENC and software x264/x265 doesn't keep improving the higher bitrate you give it, It seems like it's only purpose currently is with streaming if you were limited to lower bandwidths. In the case of Youtube streaming that accepts AV1, HEVC and AVC, it you only had the ability to stream 1080P60 at 6-8Mbit's AV1 should have a good win, but for an NLE doesn't seem useful given the lower quality of the Nvenc AV1 hardware encoder, or the slowness of the software AV1 encoder. Doesn't have enough going for it. The meme that hardware encoders are lower quality than software encoders at higher bitrates is actually true with Nvenc AV1

i'M seeing the usual problem with this new HEVC decoder of it only being able to play 1 file at a time, if you blend it with it'self it dies. Could others comment if they see the same behavior?

@Andrew-Stevenson Are you able to upload a short camera file to a file sharing site so others can try your HEVC 420 10bit. You could also use shutter encoder to cut a section of video from an existing longer camera file using 'cut without re-encoding' function

Have you tried rewrapping to mov using something such as shutter encoder? You can try rewrapping to mp4 too, but shutter encoder may not want to do that

Faulty software - extorting money for a newer version
Hello. I created an alert ECCPL-45468 European Union and regarding the activities of Magix for the Polish economic police, the German police and the EU consumer protection chamber. I would like to ask people who canceled Vegas and did not receive a refund for faulty software to contact me. If you just want your money back contact the government organization who handles products not fit for purpose and make your complaint. It has been my experience as soon the government body contacts the business they buckle immediately and refund the money. It's not in their interest to have legal fights with government bodies. I'm not sure what you're doing, if it's a class action (with damages/fines?) that doesn't sound so straight forward or quick.

@bvideo I think you're right it's some strangeness with variable frame rate and Vegas. I have compared scene detects on Resolve and Vegas before and found they operated the same, but on this file scene detect finds scene s changes on OP's original file, while Resolve did not. There should be no reason with this shot for it to detect scene changes. Further I ran Vegas scene detect on the HEVC 10bit transcodes from Resolve and shutter encoder, Vegas did not detect any scene changes. Stranger still I expected to find black frames at the scene detect locations, but didn't. Using compositing mode Difference and comparing original file to the transcodes, I can not match them for the entire shot , there's some sort of drift, but when comparing the Resolve and Shutter encodes, they match perfectly except for the first 10seconds where timing is slightly off EDIT: This is all fake news, I forgot to return to the new GPU decoder after looking at the file with experimental decoder

"...Vegas Pro 21-187 out of the box." means: It is the way the Vegas Creative Software developers left it after doing an in-place upgrade from 21-108 to 21-187. I neither changed it nor looked at it since the upgrade. @john_dennis I had a look at your frame 11379 as best I could given the small size in the screen recording, it appears to be my 11377. From what I've observed now with some editors or players there's only 2 right answers, ending on 11377 frame, or 11376 frame, Those that can only show last frame as 11376 correctly show the right frame, with 1 playable frame missing. Your last frame should not be 11379 as it doesn't exist @bvideo Yeah I had a look then, saw the same strangeness with experimental decoder. @Andrew-Stevenson Had a look at some iphone14HEVC 10bit as opposed to your 8bit, it shows on timeline correctly.
