Wow...that vimeo link is unreal! I want to do that!!! LOL Does anyone have a link to a tutorial? I looked around on YT and found a couple though nothing looked as "pro" as how I would like.

VMS10 or Vegas 10?
I was using vmsp when I recently upgraded to a camera that shot AVCHD with a system similar to yours and I did have trouble with that file type. I found this forum site and a simple fix which involves some minor IT on my part and I had no more problems. It’s a great program and is very close to pro...better than any consumer program hands down. Here are a couple for edits I did a few months ago with AVCHD and vmsp...

Keep Vegas Movie Studio or move up to Vegas Pro?
I just recently upgraded from MSP to Pro and would be glad to tell you why I did it. The version of MSP I had restricted me to 4 video and 4 audio track. Pro is unlimited on both. The new version of MSP allows 10 per. That was one reason. The biggest for me was envelope level audio FX and 3D text. There are a few video FX options on Pro that were not on my MSP though the majority were the same. I started working with video a year ago and settled on MSP because it was, in my opinion, hands down the best consumer program out there. I am glad I did because it made the transition to Pro very easy. I am sure others can give you reasons better than mine...

Vegas 10 no longer opens
Here is a different thought. I keep all of my video files on external drives. One drive “sleeps” often and takes a few minutes to wake up. When I open Vegas and I am not currently using this drive, it can take up to a minute before the drive wakes up and Vegas loads. I guess because I save all of my projects, it looks for the files before it opens the program. You may want to make sure you have access to all of your drives. Just a thought.

AVCHD editing in Vegas
I have 2 HD cameras. One Sony that shoots AVCHD and a Samsung that shoots H.264 I do not have any trouble editing or rendering either format with Vegas 10 and the system I detailed above.

AVCHD editing in Vegas
I have a quad core, 2.80ghz with 4 gig RAM, Windows 7 64bit I bought from Dell last spring and paid $500 for the cpu. Obviously you will pay more with a new monitor. I have a 19" HD monitor I paid $100 for from dell as well. I have no trouble editing 1920x1080 files with vegas. I was using MSP before I upgraded to Pro a few months ago and I did have to do a RAM modification to work with more than a few files. I found the directions for the modification on this forum site. I did not do anything when I went to Pro and it works fine. Make sure you have at least 1 external drive to keep your raw files on so you are not using up the cpu's storage space...good to have a few for backing up files anyhow.

YouTube vs Vimeo
Thanks for the replies. Here is a link to a recent short on vimeo http://vimeo.com/18565383 Looks good in HD on YT but very jerky in vimeo. I used the internet preset AVC 1920. I re-rendered it this morning to the 720 and am reposting it to see if it looks better. Knowing that they resize it to 720 makes sense. If it looks good I will use that from now on for internet stuff. Thanks again!

I just upgraded to pro10 and I can't get my Netblue or Wax plug ins. They are in MSP that I still have but, not pro. Any suggestions?

AVCHD and TsmuxerR
This is really exposing my true lack of solid understanding of the render process. I have used MainConceipt at HDV 1080-60i and they work wonderfully...play in Media Player fine and look fine. I have had less success when I render to Sony AVC 1920x1080 NTSC. I was using that setting because the the footage was shot at 1920x1080 and that was the setting most like the original. The .mp4 will not play smoothly in Media Player. I guess it is splitting hairs... I probably need to look deeper into previous posts regarding rendering to better understand what is best. Thanks again for your feedback.

AVCHD and TsmuxerR
It is crashing when rendering however, I found the thread related to Windows 64 bit and downloaded the CFF explorer and made the changes and it seems to work! Very stoked! Thank all of those responsible for that discovery. I am still having a problem playing rendered files with Media Player and I downloaded the tsMuxerR program and it is giving me a moov atom error. If I can get that fixed I am one happy man!
