If you give us wrong informations, then it is hard to support you. What you could also try, is to set in the file I/O preferences the "hardware decoder to use" to off. Could work with your processor only, since it is an HD 24p video only - here your processor should be strong enough to preview and run your footage.

"Nobody can test the endless combinations" Of course, but more beta testers means more different system testing! I suggest you to become betatester, and then you can show us how to ensure that ALL possible combinations of hardware, drivers and software settings can be tested. ;)

I dont have integrated gpu , this is my motherboard and video cardMB ASUS PRIME Z690-P WIFI D4 GAMING INTEL LGA1700GPU ASUS TUF RTX3080-O12G According to your signiture, you have an Intel i9 12900K. Well, this processor has an i-GPU, the Intel UHD graphic 770. So you have to look to your processor, not to the motherboard or videocard. See here: https://www.intel.de/content/www/de/de/products/sku/134599/intel-core-i912900k-processor-30m-cache-up-to-5-20-ghz/specifications.html So this i-GPU should be selectable in Vegas in the Files I/O preferences, if the i-GPU is enabled. How you enable your i-GPU on your system, well that is something that I cannot tell you.

The settings that work here are: So you have to enable the i-GPU in your system, and then change the settings to the i-GPU.

I have just downloaded your footage, imported it in Vegas Pro 21 b108, and have full playback speed with the preview quality best/full. Project settings at HD 24p as you use. So that seems to be no issue with Vegas Pro 21, since it works here like a charm. BUT I had enabled the i-GPU on my laptop in the file i/o preferences (hardware decoder to use was QSV on Intel Xe Graühics). If I set that theo NVDEC on NIVIDS Gefore RTX 3070 Ti laptop, I am able to repro your issue. Then the preview remains black! So I agree with Roger - it seems to be an nvidia issue. Use your i-GPU for decoding, then you can edit your AVC footage as an workaround. Edit: funny enough, it seems to work with the nvenc settings too, but not always. From time to time it works. So with nvenc it seems to be not quite stable, with the i-GPU it is stable really.

Even more: I I set the project properties to UHD 25p, 32bit floating point (full range) with the ACES transformation to HDR 1000 nits (so the HDR 10 project settings), I see here also 25p fps in the preview with preview/half. So the i-GPU will also support you if you shoot log, and transform it to HDR10.

On my laptop with an i-GPU Iris Xe Graphics (used in dthe File I/O settings for "hardware decoder to use") and project settings of UHD 50p 8bit full range I see here with Preview/Half the 50 fps. With Best/full it is even about 40 fps. For more details on the hardware see my signiture. Please be aware that - with a right click on the preview windows - you could also enable "adjust size and quality for optimal playback". Here Vegas Pro 21 b108 chooses preview (half) for your footage, to be able to play it with 50 fps in 50 fps project settings. If you reduced the UHD 50p project settings to UHD 25p project settings, I see here also the 25p with the preview quality preview (full).

Was Vegas v21 written on an updated platform? It seems quite stable. Additionally, significant color corrections don't seem to slow down the render times as they did in earlier versions. Yes, I also see both an performance improvement in the CGP, in the 32bit floating point ACES HDR settings, and an improved stability. What is great. But I think there is still more to come in the future.

NVidia driver fix for preview problems in VEGAS Pro
Just tried 537.13 game ready driver on my Asus laptop and the GDI issue is fixed. Tried both auto and prefer performance and fx preview and preview while rendering both work. Seems to work here on my laptop both for the nvida settings auto and prefer performance - and also compatibility- Fx preview is immediately here, and renderings seems to work fine for the nvenc render templates too. Everything fine here.

Handbuch für Vegas 20
Liebe Vegas Entwickler, schaut euch mal Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve an, da kriegt ihr selbst in der kostenlosen Version ein fast 4000 Seiten dickes Handbuch in Deutsch! Das ist nicht richtig. Das ca. 4000 Seiten dicke Manual von Resolve 18.5 ist nur in Englisch verfügbar. Die Problematik ist aber tatsächlich, dass wir zuletzt nicht einmal ein vollständiges Handbuch in englischer Sprache hatten. Jetzt ab Version 21 gibt es erstmalig wieder eine aktuelle Webseite mit recht vollständiger Beschreibung der Funktionen - was eine Neuerung ist. Das ist gut. Ob das auf Deutsch kommt, weiß ich aber nicht. Aber inzwischen kann man ja Webseiten automatisiert übersetzen lassen, hat das schon jemand probiert?

Can VP21 Edit a Canon R5 10bit video file without making a proxy?
When VP20 was first released I found that the I/O hardware decoder had to be set to off just to be able to preview even the Canon 8bit mp4 video files on the timeline, never mind the Canon10bit video files. On my laptop I had a QSV... option for the hardware decoder that worked but do not have that option on my tower PC. Todd-A0's results above appear to indicate that VP21 has not yet improved rendering speed for this Canon 10 bit file. Maybe an update will improve VP21 for Canon video files or I may have to wait for VP22. Decoding of 10bit HEVC 422 is neither supported by nvidia, nor by AMD GPUs. It is only supported by Intel i-GPUs. So playback behavior of this type of footage without an i-GPU is weak. Render support is another question.

It worked until I uninstalled old version of Primatte studio and installed new version. But that looks like, as if the new version has worked fine in the beginning. But the deinstallation killed your system. Sounds like it would be necessary to know exactly what has happened here during the deinstallation. Or - since you cannot know - that it may be the better choice to re-install Windows again.

Hardware decoder to use in the I/O preferences should be set to the i-GPU or GPU. You have not set that (only for raw).

You would loose with the conversion from PRR to the MagicYUV conversion time only. The use of ProRes 10bit is the better choice really.

What exactly did you install? Vegas Pro 21 is not bundled with BBC, but with Boris FX Primatte Studio. Do you mean Boris FX Primatte Studio, or an BBC version?

For me, I see the decoding issue with HEVC 10bit 422 only in following combination:a) Options/Preferences/Video: RTX 3070 Tib) File I/0 hardware decoder to use: Intel Iris Xe Graphis=> I see the decoding issue with the other possible combinations I see no decoding issue with this type of footage TEST 2a) Options/Preferences/Video: RTX 3070 Tib) File I/0 hardware decoder to use: RTX 3070 Ti=> I do not see the decoding issue OR TEST 3a) Options/Preferences/Video: Intel Iris Xe Graphicsb) File I/0 hardware decoder to use: Intel Iris Xe Graphis=> I do not see the decoding issue OR TEST 4a) Options/Preferences/Video: Intel Iris Xe Graphicsb) File I/0 hardware decoder to use: RTX 3070 Ti=> I do not see the decoding issue Funny enough, test 3 shows the best playback performance for UHD 50p HEVC footage.

Tend to agree with Derek, since the transition we have in the internal slideshow functions are a limited selection only. However, this can be overcome at the moment with Excalibur. BUT my point was the stability, that I have seen in the project. That is most important to me.
