Unable to activate Noise Reduction plugin
RESOLVED: Follow-up: After trying every machine ID in the registry, computer name, Directx machine info, and the data generated by ipconfig/all I ended up contacting Magix Support and they answered me in ONE DAY. I was thrilled. Kimberly N.MAGIX Software GmbHSupportmanager Gave her the Machine ID named when you click on the plugin as an FX and are told to register it, and the serial number (which was already registered) and she sent me an email with an activation code. It worked flawlessly. The Noise Reduction plugin is working again. Thank you Magix Support

DVDA 5.0 BR Next (Skip) Button Issue
thank you for your reply. Just to be sure to talk about the same item... I'm talking about the Next Chapter button on the remote, which is well received by the player (led blinking) but with no chapter change during the play of a title. The menus are working perfectly. regards Philippe Yes, that is the problem. I call it a menu problem which technically it is, but we are both on the same page. My workaround is still the only solution that works consistently, but the main page doesn't look very "pretty" or even "professional" as a result. John

Hi, Yes, still the same issue. Incredible that this bug, because it's a DVDA bug, is not yet solved. It remembers me the bug about a multi-angle project, https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/multi-angle-blu-ray-projects-crash-on-preparation--103686/ which is still unsolved too. Philippe Pretty sad. A normal functioning Blu-ray menu is so basic, yet not a priority and never has been. I guess it is fortunate there is not much call for Blu-ray.

Vegas Pro 8 odd behavior in Windows 7 64-bit
Tried everything in the suggestions. .Net Framework wouldn't install by itself because it is already part of 3.5 which installs with windows 7. Starting Vegas (as administrator or other) when "creating file I/O Manager" at the beginning APPCRASH "Sony Vegas Pro has stopped working", etc. Fault Module StackHash_444b Whereas the program installed but didn't work properly before, it now wouldn't install at all. Looked up the error message. Microsoft says it is a Data Execution Prevention message. DEP prevented the program from starting. Went to Computer / Properties / Advanced System Settings / Performance / Settings / Data Execution Prevention / Highlighted "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select" Added the Sony Vegas Pro .exe file and now the program starts. Success. Thanks for all the help. I'll see if the funny looking event borders have returned. EDIT: As per suggestion by Nick started program using "Run program as administrator". Loaded a 90 minute project and all the odd event border anomalies are GONE. Normal separation. Start normally and all of the cut off separation lines I referenced at the start of this thread Re-appear??? Start as administrator and they are gone. Perhaps JJKizzak was right, the blue 'hooks' are overlapped frames that got there because???, and disappear when you run as administrator because???? Followed this link Nick provided to permanently start Vegas as administrator: https://winaero.com/blog/how-to-run-an-app-as-administrator-in-windows-10/ Mind you, before I uninstalled the installation I was having trouble with in the Original Post to try all these suggestions I started the program using Run As Administrator and it had NO effect at all. No change. But now after all the suggestions and new installation it works, but only if I Run As Administrator. I wish I knew exactly why so I could tag it as a solution for others finding this thread. But I have no idea. However, making a DEP exception for Vegas Pro did in fact work for startup crashes anyway. John

Thanks Nick. To be clear, I am trying to get it to work properly on Windows 7 64-bit not XP. I have been successfully using Vegas 8 on my XP Pro computer since 2008 and wanted to start using it on a newer computer I built a year ago. I completely uninstalled Vegas using your awesome tips. I may wait until tomorrow to reinstall it again. .Net Framework 1.0 doesn't appear to be installed according to the .NET Framework Setup Verification Tool I referenced above. If it is necessary for .Net framework 1.0 to be on my Windows 7 64-bit computer, there is a workaround for W7 64-bit posted here: http://www.instructables.com/id/Install-NET-Framework-10-on-64-bit-Windows/ (seems a little iffy though). I used the download link for 8.0c you provided and will try that file (although it appears to be the same as the one I tried) John

Vegas Pro 8 odd behavior in Windows 7 64-bit
With QTF and Snapping On before importing media, I don't have dangling frames on the timeline. Maybe something is amiss in internal prefs? I had tried that both ways with same result. Internal prefs I A-B compared to my XP installation and they matched, but I could look again and write every single one of them down. Can I buy Vegas Pro 12 still? I know the download is still available. Update: Just tried uninstalling and reinstalling Vegas Pro 8.0c and now the program crashes when it tries to open. Unable to open the program at all anymore. Maybe I had to uninstall Noise Reduction as well? Or used initial CD version and then update to version c? Guess work at this point.

Running Pro 8 on Windows 7 64 for several years, no unexplained issues here. I appreciate that, but I cannot figure out what is wrong. Do the events on your timeline look like the ones I posted an image of above with little chopped off lines at the end?? I tried loading other types of video /audio files and they all look like that. Even .mxf John

I had to give up. Even if I ignore the odd looking events on the timeline a render crashes before completion with an "Unknown error" message. I moved the entire edited project and Veg. file over to my Windows XP installation and it looked correct and rendered perfectly. I guess I'll not use my Windows 7 computer for Vegas until I "upgrade" to a newer version that works on W7 64-bit.

How about "Quantize to Frames"? Yes, that is enabled. I went back to my Windows XP Pro installation of Vegas 8.0c which I have been using flawlessly for years and copied all the settings and preferences (except internal settings) onto a piece of paper. Then I matched them all up in the Windows 7 installation and the problem still persists. The ends of each clip do not look right. That is with every type of video file including mxf files. I even tried disabling "enable windows xp theme support" and it made no difference. Do you know anything about "issues with audio", and "issues with plugins" that came up when I searched for Vegas Pro 8 on Windows 7 64-bit? The results weren't very specific.

Just tried something else. I chose both the Automatic Crossfades and Quickfade Audio Edits options and NEITHER of them showed up between the clips on the timeline when I dragged four clips to the timeline from the media bin. Also, I stretched out the timeline and the video seems to be off by one frame. Look at this screenshot. The cursor is on the previous event's last frame yet the preview window shows the next event's first frame.

So I did a little research (some old posts are missing) and it seems that there were a few problems with Vegas Pro 8 and Windows 7 (64-bit). 1. Some 32-bit plugins didn't work 2. There were some (unspecified) problems with the audio. Does this ring a bell with anyone? Furthermore, I just checked and the software is installed in the Program Files (x86) folder. So since it is a 32-bit version it is in the correct folder.

(or try small render region area between these events) (*btw, rather than posting the link to screenshot or image hosting service site, you can post the image directly in this site.) Thanks. Posted image direct. There is a slight delay at the end of each clip. Same clips in Windows XP installation do not have the problem. No hooks. Normal transition from one to the other. No delay.

Those are the blue snaps that tell you you have overlapped the cut. (Speculation) JJK If I put a single event on the timeline all by itself, the little blue hooks STILL appear at the end of it.

DVDA 5.0 BR Next (Skip) Button Issue
I was having the same issue until I realized there is a setting for that (control menu to the right of the display window) It is even called "remote". It gives options for all remote buttons, switched it to "on" (default seems to be off), and it works just fine. All my BD-Rs, most of which are 3D now support the remote chapter skip. Duh, can't believe it took me several burnings to notice. Those buttons have always been "ON" for me yet the problem remains. If that worked for you then we aren't talking about the same issue the rest of us who raised this issue are experiencing. To my knowledge, all of us have always had the remote buttons "ON" yet the problem persists. I am still resorting to putting all the scene selection items on the main menu page which looks terrible but works flawlessly. 1. Create scene selection menu the normal way.2. For each page of the scene selection menu ctrl click on each thumbnail and text and choose text only so the thumbnails disappear leaving only the text as a link to each chapter.3. Delete the page title and the page navigation arrows so that only the text links are present.4. Select them all and cut and paste them onto the Top Menu page. That will eliminate the scene selection page they came from.5. Do that for each scene selection page and arrange them the way you like.6. The result is a Top Menu page with lists of links to the scenes (chapters). ONE PAGE (Top Menu) for everything.Plays normally in all players including the Panasonic. I tested it with two sets of 13 links and it worked flawlessly.John
