VEGAS Pro 21 Build 108 General Discussion
OK, every time I go to the Vegas Hub it asks me to sign-in, is this a bug or how it is now?? Hi @Cmin7669 Did you find a fix for this? I'm getting it also in V21. Each time I open the hub it asks me to log in again. In V20 it used to ask me about once a week which wasn't too bad. Sorry if already answered, can't see a reply in the pages that I got to. Thanks. @RogerS Just tried a fresh V21 project and newly created proxies for a couple of clips with legacy off. One a 24fps 4:2:2 clip, the other a 60fps 4:2:0 clip (both Sony A7siii). Stranger and stranger: the proxy disappears for the 60fps clip when switching legacy back on, but not for the 24fps. Do you have a way to recreate that? (If time - it's not an urgent bug as I guess most people aren't switching legacy on and off regularly). VEGAS Pro 21 Build 108 General Discussion
I loaded two HEVC 10-bit files (Canon and Sony) that play back horribly on my laptop without a proxy file. With legacy HEVC off I made proxy files. They were used on playback (full framerate). I changed the preferences to legacy HEVC and tried again. I still have full framerate, not the <1 FPS I was getting before. Switching back to best/full I am getting a terrible framerate. So from what I can tell with this computer at least and these test conditions proxy files are working normally. @RogerS Thanks for checking this. I've just tried it again with a fresh V20 project (in case it was something to do with jumping from V20 to V21) and same thing for me again. I have a proxy created with legacy off playing fine. When I turn legacy on, it doesn't see the proxy. If I right click on the file in the media explorer the 'create proxy' option reappears. When I switch back to legacy off (closing and opening vegas needless to say) then the create option is greyed out. VEGAS Pro 21 Build 108 General Discussion
Vegas Pro 21 installed and working well (alongside v20 for now, I'm on the pro 365 subscription). What's the latest advice on settings for getting the best playback with HEVC files please (from A7siii)? If I tick 'use legacy HEVC codec' I get just about useable playback without proxies. If I uncheck the legacy option I definitely need proxies for useable playback. Is the legacy option still likely to cause more crashes? Or is it down to individual set ups what will be most reliable? AMD 6700xt and 5900x system. I'm happy using proxies so the main benefit would be for better playback when switching up to Good/Best for grading. Update: After more editing time on V21, I notice that proxies go with the HEVC decoding option selected. i.e. Proxies generated with legacy HEVC decoding unchecked aren't recognised if you switch legacy back on (and vice versa). So it looks like I'll be sticking with legacy HEVC off as all my V20 proxies were created with it off. That explains a weird problem I had moving from V19 to V20 when I thought it had lost all my proxies. Nice to learn something new on a Friday afternoon...

Titles & Text super slow typing
This remains a curious frustrations with Vegas 20 - super slow typing lag using Vegas Titles & Text. It makes editing subtitles etc a real chore and a waste of time. I can't fathom why it only does it sometimes. I've looked at CPU/GPU activity when it's being laggy, and there's nothing showing. It's not about PC power, really don't know what else to look at.

URGENT - VEGAS PRO OPENING PROBLEM
Happy to confirm Vegas pro 20 is loading as normal again for me with the new 403 patch. Took a few goes for a succesful download of the file, but fine after that. Thanks to all involved in the fix.

URGENT - VEGAS PRO OPENING PROBLEM
UK based. Worked fine last night BST 19.00. Not this morning. Windows 11, Vegas pro 20. Am on ethernet connection and disconnecting that does allow me to open vegas - just a bit of a fuss having to scrabble around the back of the PC! Thanks for all the speedy ideas.

Vegas Pro not opening when I click it in the taskbar, Start Menu, etc.
The new Welcome screen might give a workaround. If I open Vegas with no project in (i.e. without choosing a previous project to open, just the programme) it always seems to open. Then I can pick the previous project I want to work on from the Welcome screen list. That list is different to the 'previous projects' list I get under the task bar icon. So maybe there's something going wrong between Vegas held recent projects and Windows 11 held recent projects?

Vegas Pro not opening when I click it in the taskbar, Start Menu, etc.
Seems like other users (including myself) are reporting a similar problem, with getting several false starts that needing cancelling in the task manager before Vegas finally opens your project. Happening since v19 for me. Had assumed it was just my hard drive set up, but seems to be several others. Vegas 20 will not start and the desktop icon goes away
Amazed to read it's not just me who gets the false starts on windows 11. Still happening in Vegas 20 build 326. I was assuming it was some kind of hard drive comms issue, so vegas tries to start but the project hard drive doesn't kick in, so it just sits there as a background process - but that's a total guess. It's a right waste of time having to go to task manager, kill the background task and try to launch again. Usually works second go for me.

Titles & Text super slow typing
Have exactly the same issue with VP20. AMD 5900x , 6700XT graphics and 64gb so it's not underpowered. Good tip on using notepad and cutting and pasting. Any other clues anyone has come across? It literally takes 2-3s for each key press to register. It's almost like it's building previews in the background (a bit like New Titler pro does), then when it's done it, you can type and edit at normal speed. Really odd that it's intermittent.

VEGAS Pro 20 Build 214 General Thread
For what it's worth, I'm now getting on much better with V20 after initial crashing and stuttering problems coming from v19 636. Turning off legacy HEVC was the first big fix (widely reported by many others) but have also finally realised that proxies made in v19 don't play nicely in v20. I guess that might be to do with the HEVC switch. Projects that are v20 'native' - i.e. proxies created within v20 perfom well - so AVC files including 10bit 60fps from a A7siii play OK without proxies (better than I think they did in v19). HEVC files play a little worse than they did in v19 without proxies, but with proxies created in v20 they play fine as you'd expect. Nice and stable so far. I was worried about worse rendering quality with legacy HEVC off, but I personally can't see a difference for my level of delivery at least. Windows 11, AMD 5900x, 6700xt, 64gb RAM.

Vegas Pro 20 new Build 214 and new Nvidea Studio driver
Happened to try V20 again today after having crash chaos last time I had a go upgrading from v19 636. Switched off HEVC legacy, and installed the new build 214 with no issues. No crashes but playback on the timeline is odd. 4k h265 8bit files from a drone play back smoothly with no proxies, which is amazing. BUT 4k 10bit h265 files 4:2:0 from an a7siii only play with jerks with or without proxies - unuseable. I think there may be an easy fix for that once the experts get to grips with this. I have reinstalled latest AMD driver. Tried turning HEVC legacy back on and it won't even load the project without crashing. AVC legacy on and off makes no difference.Ryzen 9 5900 + AMD 6700XT 64gb RAM Windows 11.

VEGAS Pro 20 feedback
I've had no luck with V20 - new projects and imported v19 projects crash before I can start any editing. I also had no joy with v19 643. I've stuck with v19 636 which is the most stable version of v19 I've ever had. I use 10 bit xavcs files from a Sony a7siii with proxies. Set up is windows 11, AMD5900x and 6700x GPU + 64gb RAM. Can anyone suggest a top 3 things to try when I next have time? In v19 636 I don't have 'enable legacy avc' selected, so I don't see why I'd need to select it for for v20 but I could try it if I can hold off the crashes for long enough. I have updated to the latest GPU driver (and it's very stable on v19 636) so I don't think it's that. Excited to get the benefits of v20 at some point, but at least I can work normally on v19 636 for now. Thanks for any suggestions.

New GPU for 4K60 ?
Ryzen 5900 and AMD 6700xt GPU here, a good value combo (with current prices anyway). My render speeds are near the top of the benchmark lists, but I have finally given up expecting smooth timeline playback for anything above 4k 24fps. Proxies are a great solution - they don't really take long to make (once you plan in the workflow) and having instant timeline playback is so much more creative than the stutters and delays without them. I tried just doing proxies for the 60fps stuff, but as soon as I start having overlapping clips, I need them for 24fps also.Once generated, set preview window to 'preview-full' to get it to switch to proxies. Go back to Good or Best to see it with the original quality media for grading. I'm telling myself this as much as anyone else - I still have a weird legacy 'proxies are boring' attitude - but it makes no sense. Proxies are great!

What have you done to Vegas PRO build 643?
Identical problems to @tactech for me with 643 - timeline actions all very slow and crashed after a minute. Couldn't open previous projects. I tried a clean install and also tried reinstalling GPU driver with no change. I've rolled back to 636 which ironically was very stable and has been the best Vegas version ever for me. 636 working for me again thank goodness, but could do without the 'new version' pop up each time I open it.System is Ryzen 5900 and AMD 6700 xt. Someone else suggested it was an AMD related issue, no idea if that's the case, but I'll gladly watch for new info or suggestions emerging today. I have lots of projects to deliver to clients today (wedding season in full flow), so I'll have to pick the next upgrade time carefully. Never had upgrade problems like this, so I'm sure it's a one off glitch. I do trust Vegas and think it's a superb editor for my projects, so am puzzled as much as frustrated by this.

Hi. I installed 643 but it's massively unstable for me. I can create a new project, but timeline playback is very bad and it crashes after a minute. It won't let me open previous projects. I have a ton of work to do. I'm starting to feel sick. Please can someone help me roll back to the previous version - that was VERY VERY stable for me. I have tried installing within Vegas, and then I have tried a clean install. Same problem both times. I have Ryzen 5900 and AMD 6700 xt card.

Stock footage subscription not renewing
Hi @gary-rebholz, thanks so much for reply. I'm on the 20 downloads per month licence. I used up all my allowance a few weeks ago. It took ages to reset - I can't easily tell if that was a bug or correct as I don't know what it counts as the date of my first download in that period. Also, when it did reset, it said I had 12 downloads left rather than 20, which doesn't seem to make any sense. Once it resets, I'm sure it should go back up to 20 downloads. My guess (and it is only a guess) is that there are 2 licence flags attached to my account, and they are running out of sync. I'd be very glad of any advice on what to do about it. I have tried repeated messages to Magix, but am getting no replies. That might be because I've misunderstood the service, but I don't think so.

Windows 11
Running vegas 19 on windows 11 for a couple of months now. Only problem I have is that about every third time I open a project (by right clicking the icon in task bar and choosing the edit I need) Vegas seems to get stuck and won't open. It creates a background process in task manager, but doesn't do anything else. If I 'End' the background process in task manager and try again it opens fine. This has only started happening since I swapped to Win11, so I guess it's something to do with that. It's not a disaster as it's quick to sort, but it is odd/boring that it happens so often if anyone has any ideas? Many thanks.
