Sticking with 8.0c.
"Your system specs indicate you're running WinXP. Does VP11 run on XP?" I'm not sure who your question was addressed to Grazie but I have VP11 on another box that I set aside as a toy to play around with the latest version of Vegas. I have no intentions of getting serious with V11 anytime soon. Erik

"The later iterations of V9 were not that bad for editing - not as rock solid as 8c, but usable - especially if the project wasn't all that long." I use 9e for 30 minute television programs that include many layers of FX and hundreds of clips in the project. Things will slow down some towards the end of the project (especially after conforming to full resolution) but 9e will keep working straight through a generally flawless render. Erik

Being a former user of 8.0c only for a long time, I feel that I can safely vouch for 9e. I have not had any issues with 9e that I couldn't have with 8c. 10d on the other hand has not won my full respect as of yet. 11? Beta software for sure. I think one of the reasons Sony went with a build number for updates this time around is because they know there are plenty of them to come before they get all the bugs worked out of 11. Erik

Media Manager improvement ideas
Double-click to add to trimmer. I actually assumed this was an option. For a long time I tried to figure out where the setting was to allow this before finally giving up. Seems like a no-brainer. Also, it has been said many times before but why not sub-clip usage inside Media Manager. Another vote undo-redo also. Search is currently limited to searching file names only. I want to be able to search my tags because I have so many it can be hard to find what I need.

Thumbs up for Singular Software Plular Eyes!
I like the software also. I recommend checking the "try really hard" box for the projects that are relying on camera mics or poorly recorded audio. I got a few "out of memory errors" however sometimes when using this setting. You do have to baby it a bit but it is worth it if you don't have synced code for large projects. Erik

Based on previous experience here on the forum, I would say the bad bug lives on in 11 for sure or the Forum Advisor would have posted an update by now to help offset the many complaints. Erik

Vegas Replaced The Footage Poll
Thanks to everyone who took time to contribute to the survey. Results so far are as follows: 39 respondents 23 or 59% have had the Vegas Replaced the Footage bug 16 or 41% haven't had the bug yet It should be noted that 44% of all respondents have had the bug happen 2 or more times. It seems like the odds are better than 50/50 that you will get hit by this devastating bug at some point. There wasn't any discernible common denominator given either as to clue for solving the problem. The fact that it cuts through such a wide swath of users on different systems seems to suggest that it is a bug that is possible on all OS variations using Vegas. Above all else, please keep in mind that Sony HAS BEEN ABLE TO REPRO THE BUG on more than one veg file so please don't use that as an excuse as to why the bug remains in the latest versions. I wonder how many people at SCS are actively working on trying to solve THIS bug this week for example? I would be happy to hear if it was even one. Sony, don't shove this one under the rug. Please make solving this bug a priority. Erik

Sony Support Sucks!
"Well we're here? Why not ask the many users here? " Grazie as you know, I've posted here and gotten many fine answers before. That is not the point. Frankly, I feel we've all thrown in the towel on the type of service we should be getting. When you pay hundreds of dollars for any product you should be able to pick up the phone and talk to someone for help for FREE! OMG! FREE???? Why would a company waste all that money on hiring people to try and help their customers?????? That is so wasteful of company resources! We couldn't possibly stay in business if we did that!!! BS!!! All of it and we are the ones who are suckers who believe that crap. The really successful companies of the future will be the ones who not only have a good product but work hard to please their customers. How in the world does Zappos compete? Surely, they are going broke with their hell bent attitude on caring for customers.

Vegas Replaced the footage
"Wouldn't do them any good if they can't reproduce the problem." SCS has said in the past that they believe this problem is related to large projects where files are copied from one open instance of Vegas to another open instance of Vegas. If Peter's project can show that neither of these things happened with his small project then it is potentially an important step in eliminating wrong ideas about how to solve the problem. Erik

Multi-Cam workflow help please?
Steve and Alf, I downloaded Pluraleyes. Sure nice to test it for 30 days free. So far, so good although I run into an "out of memory" error several times with Pluraleyes which has eaten quite a bit of time. My sync tracks are over an hour long each with many clips so I'm guessing I'm maxing out somewhere along the line. Pluraleyes doesn't do exactly what I wanted but it is going to make things easier I think. I will update with screenshots once I get further along in the project over the next couple of weeks. Erik
