Very slow preview with iPhone 4K/60fps/HDR video
doesn't support Dolbyvision I'd skip HDR as well at the capture stage The Dolby Vision profile used by modern iPhones is based on HLG, so setting Vegas HDR mode to HLG gives me sufficiently good results, even without interpretation of the extra Dolby Vision metadata. (I have not yet done a comparison though with results from Final Cut, so maybe I'm missing out on extra HDR quality and haven't realized it yet.) Unless you have a monitor that is HDR, not sure about using it. I have an HDR screen and playing these video clips with HDR looks gorgeous 😀. I don't want to capture without it anymore. I too have Resolve Studio. Nice software. But I still can't find myself doing timeline editing with it. Same here, I also greatly prefer the Vegas workflow. I'm a long time Vegas user since version 3.0, I have made attempts in the past to switch to Resolve, and also to Final Cut, but came back to Vegas every time. But right now, the performance problems here are just too great, so for this kind of project I guess I will have to begrudgingly use Resolve or Final Cut.I will try out proxy files though (do the proxy files support HDR?). Btw, a rather bizarre detail: when I render the project in Vegas to a UHD HDR10 HEVC file with the Magix HEVC encoder and NVENC enabled... the rendering process performs with higher fps than the timeline preview playback. At least to me, that's unexpected, as rendering is usually slower than preview...

How to retain VHS smoothness in progressive video
When working with older interlaced footage form VHS oder MiniDV, I deinterlace first with frame doubling (i.e. convert 25i (50 fields/sec) to 50p), and then edit the deinterlaced material. With a good deinterlacer, you get a nice sharp picture and the wonderful smooth motion of the source material. My favourite deinterlacer is QTGMC which can be used via AviSynth. It's free, but requires some work to set up by hand. An easier (but not free) way to use it is also available via HappyOtterScripts (I don't have experience with it though). Another good deinterlacer is built into "TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works", but that's another piece of commercial software. But in case you happen to already own that, in my opinion it produces results which are almost as good as QTGMC (that's all IMHO of course...). In my testing of the Vegas built-in deinterlacing, it has unfortunately not produced good results for me.

VEGAS Pro 20 Build 214 General Thread
Just want to say thanks to the Vegas team for adding the preview window zoom feature! It's a small thing but such a great quality-of-life improvement when making selections for white balance. Before this I always had to rearrange the window layout back and forth making the whole video preview larger and smaller.

VEGAS Pro 20 feedback
Congrats to the Vegas team on the new release! Just installed version 20 and it was nice to see it scan my VST3 plugins when I started it. The new additions to the colour grading panel look great, I'll have to learn how to use those HSL curves😀 Interestingly, Vegas 20 also runs much faster for me than my Vegas19 installation... that is probably because I had upgraded my graphics card some time ago and did not reinstall Vegas 19 after that... maybe it's because Vegas 20 is now a fresh installation? Is that plausible? Question: is it possible to disable the new feature "Fade In/Out included in Paste Event Attributes"? This change really breaks my workflow, so if there was a setting to switch back to the old behaviour, that would be greatly appreciated.

Why do they list Brightness&Contrast in the color grading panel as new for Vegas 20? That's already in Vegas 19, not sure since which build, but at least it's in Build 643...

VEGAS Pro 19 Update 5 (Build 643)
About the "lost preferences" problem.. will there be an update soon which fixes this issue on top of Build 636? Or will it only be fixed with the next big update in a few months? I'm still on Build 550 now and wondering if I should take the risk with the update or wait... p.s. about the icon theme... in my opinion, the new theme from Vegas 19 is a big improvement over the previous one. Since so many people are negative about it, I just want to add that not everyone dislikes it. It's also a matter of taste, after all. In my opinion, the best icon and overall UI theme in Vegas was the old/original one which was already there when I started out with Vegas 3.0, long ago :-) So the version 19 look is not my all-time favourite but IMO a step into the right direction compared to version 18.

VEGAS Pro 19 Build 424 (Update 2)
Can somebody confirm the following bug? 1) Open color grading panel for some clip2) Hover mouse cursor over one of the "Y" sliders below any of the color wheels (doesn't matter which one)3) Now, without clicking or moving the mouse, use the mouse wheel to adjust the Y slider value. When scrolling down, it works as expected: the Y value decreases. But when scrolling up, it not only increases "Y", it also moves the color balance dot to the right in the wheel above the slider. I assume that is not intentional?

VEGAS Pro 19 Build 424 (Update 2)
First of all, great update, thanks! As a long time Vegas user it is so good to see the program evolving with useful features. [EDIT: removed bug report because I realized that I misunderstood this. Although I still think there is a bug with the color grading panel Y slider and using the mouse wheel... when hovering the cursor over the Y sliders under the color wheels, and using the mouse wheel, it also moves the dot in the color wheel, not just the slider... this is what confused me...]

What happened to the Plug-in Toggle button in Vegas 19?
I also have the problem of the thread starter and it seems to be related to the selected UI color scheme. There seems to be a bug in VP19, when one of the light UI color schemes is chosen, the toggle buttons are invisible... Looks like this here: This happens when one of the two light UI color schemes are active, while with the two dark ones it works fine for me: I hope this can be fixed soon, I prefer the light colors, but without the toggle buttons, video FX are hard to use.
