Very pissed at Print To Tape!!!
Thankx for your answer... then My problem is very strange! I actually ONLY installed these things: Windows 2000 Professional Direct X 9.0 Vegas Video 4.0d And the Vidcap.exe crashes EVERY time I try to load the Print to tape list. I will try to add the Service Pack to Windows 2000 but I doubt it'll change things! /Lars

Ok, yes I already have the 30 minute video I want to Print To Tape on a "non-C:" disk. then I have the "optimal" disk management already! Thank you for you time! /Lars

Very pissed at Print To Tape!!!
No heres what happened: I have had no problems with anything until yesterday... computer from my Panasonix MX500 was fine and Print to tape was fine.. I have done this Before... Yesyterday it just did'nt work so Ifgigured that I have so much crap on my WQindows Installation so It's time for a clean new fresh installation.. so that's what I did and used Direct X 9.0b instead of 8.1 that I had on my first installation. The only thing I installed was Windows w2k, DirectX 9.0 and Vegas 4.0d... BUT The problem here was not the same...I never even got sso far O could test the Print to tape on my fresh installation cause teh vidcap.exe gave an error and closed whenever I tried loading the Print to Tape list with anything... so.. 1. On my First installation with Direct X 8.1 it gave me framedrop.. but I'm sure this was the fault of a crappy and dirty windows. So I have no question about this., 2. On my fresh installation wqith DirectX 9.0 the vidcap.exe closed before I even had time to try to print tape... So my question that the previous writer did not answer remains.. does Vegas 4.0d Print To Tape work okay with DirectX 9.0?

so.. this means I dont need a big disk with free space in order to print to tape when all the dv material i ready to transfer?

script request: changes event length
I have made it! but not yet published it... you can set the start position, end posision or Legnth, or even expand, by a certain frame amount! email me and I'll send it to you! (check for emailadress on http://midihead.servehttp.com/ ) It's not complete bugfree yet and thats' why I have'nt publish edit on my page but it works enough to help out. You can mark a bunch of events and then set them to the same length... is that what you wanted? It only supports values in Frames... not ms or Beats and Measures and stuff like that.. Only Frames since thats' what I always work with!

Burned VCD is missing the MPEG, but has all the folders.HELP
on a VCD Compliant it's a DAT file.. and you can just copy that to your disk and rename it as mpeg if you want, it's still an mpeg file. If you made a VCD with some other author that kept the mpeg extention, it's a weired authoring software and not following the right standard. Use Nero and get the DAT file and everything is fine... I would recommend you convert he file to mpeg in TMPGenc using a VCD template.

4.0d: How wide is widescreen in PAL?
Does any of this really matter? I have never had any problems with my TV in any way.. it's a 3 year old Philips.. not widescreen... plays PAL and NTSC without a problem! I don't get what you all are discussing really.

SVCD help. Im new to vegas.
I would read the manual if I where you... but... choose render from the File menu choose MainConcept mpeg-2 in "save as type" and then one choose of the svcd templates there is.

You mean that non of the the suggestions from SonicEPM or lcrf worked??? Try tmpgenc.. it'll work!

Video Effects & Filters
I would say that those water effects as basically done in water and in front of a green screen.. and then just masked into the video. I don't think it's matter of what editing software you use... this is more a matter of having the right footage!

Problem printing to Tape!
I use Firewire and have no problems at all capturing from my Panasonic NV-MX500. The camera is about 1 month old and not very used yet so I doubt it will neeed to be cleaned. Since I have disabled the preview when I print to tape I guess I can't really see if it freezes but If I watch the LCD display on the cam when I print to tape there's NO glitch.. only when I playback it. Can it be the mini dv tape maybe that is used to much?

DV Interlacing Problem???
I must agree here... what musicvid said is not at all true! It's interlaces cause it's VIDEO... digital or Analogue doesn't matter. And most DVD players paly SVCD.

frame size
I understand it like you have imported a 640x480 file into vegas and when you render the thing you get it as 720x480 ??? Is that what you mean? If that's the case I guess you just haven't set the project properties right. OR you have use a template when rendering the movie and not changed the output format to the right size. When you render you can go into "Custom" and chose the Video tab and change the size... You can then use "Project Settings" (if you have the right setting in the project properties OR you can choose a custom size... Or did I not understand your question

Shortcut to restore event pan/crop settings
You could write a script to do this! then you would only have to press ctrl+[NUM] or connect to a button in the toolbar.

Transparent AVI?
An example to make you understand what I mean.. If I in a 3d program make a walking MAN.. just the animation of walking... nothing else, just the man and a transparent background then I want to be able to export the animation and then putting in over a background I made in vegas and then I will not have to bother about the background.. since I now can export uncompressed AVI from 3dsMAX I won't have to deal with masking.. Chroma Key and that stuff...

snapping in the pan/crop ruler?
Well, maybe it's because the beats and the frames (since it's keyframes we talk about) is very unlikely to have the same exact location to snap too huh... beat 2.1.0 might not be on a specific frame change.. am I right?

Aha.. I guess I got my answer now.. an Uncompressed AVI can save the alpha channel.. then a codec for this won't be nessessary... unless you wanna talk about diskspace.. but Great, now I know, never really use the uncompressed format before actually...

NO you missunderstood... what I want is a AVI with a codec that will support transparancy... like GIFs or PDS! I dont' mean Glue PGN togehter litterarly... I mean it as if the AVI would sort of be a bunch of PNGs. So that when you import the clip in vegas and you put it over another clip the background will be the clip underneath.. without having to mask anything...
