3 camera shoot - best editing workflow???
What i do personally (not very complicated or long...): Cut everything in MT mode, then create 2 new empty tracks (1 per cam). Make sure you display the take name on the events. Just select for example all the cam 1 events on the MT editing track and use the num pad "2" to move them in an upper tr. Do the same for the cam 2. Then adjust your fx on each tr. Hope this help...

File Replacement in Vegas timeline
Maybe you could put your files in a "SD" backup folder, rename your HD files ext. to "mpg" (with CkRename or something like that) and reopen your veg?

paste between projects = media offline
Sometimes, i switch to another app and switch back to Vegas just to make sure it actualize files. Also, if you just paste the events, save and reopen, does Vegas request clips locations? The other trick i often use in this case is to close the .veg, move the sources files or rename the folder, then reopen and force Vegas to relocate.

--One downside, as has been pointed out, is that many HDSLR's have limited time recording. --Lack of autofocus is perhaps the bigger issue. 2 more reasons to go for a GH2... Bastien

Alternative to Canon 5D and 7D quality?
What' s truly great about the GH2 is the great quality/video modes *and* the opportunity to use the lenses on AN AF100. It really depend of what you shoot, but managing video and sound takes seperatly (i use an H4N for this) as you have to do with the GH2 can be time consuming and a pain. In these situations, i rent an AF100. But you'l not have a motorized zoom in either cases. The other benefit if you buy a Panasonic AF100 as a main camera is the possibility to have a backup or special take 2 nd video camera for almost nothing (say $900) using the same lenses.

OT - Any iPad/iTunes experts here?
Install Dropbox on the PC and the iPad and synchronise from there? I have many iPod's museum videoguides projects and that's always what i do for testing purposes. You can also use filesApp or files free applications from Apple App store to do that. No direct USB connexion, only wifi solutions, sorry... Hope this help, Bastien

help: major Vegas 10 compression bug
Absolutly no stretching and best rendering option in the native image or Veg text format. This is clearly a codec bug (looks like maroblock misinterpretation or something) I never saw before in any version of Vegas prior to 10. The compression bug seems to occurs randomly and is related to internal fonts and external images. This is realy major, unacceptable and must be adressed by Sony.

Another test here... Check the comparaison between original image png file and DV render in V9 and v10 and Uncompressed render in V10. Everything rendered with the same render and project settings (NTSC interlaced best). Unacceptable results in V10, as you can see...

Thank you very much musicvid for your help. Maybe my english os not up to the task :-), but, sorry, there is no confusion at all... I want a card that can output multichannel analog pcm from Vegas (via Asio drivers or whatever) *and* multichannel analog from a Windows app. (actually a 5.1 project in Macromedia Director) via standard Windows driver. As simple as that: monitoring multichannel from editing app. *and* monitoring an AC3 or WMV 5.1 encoded source from a soft player (be it Director app., VLC, etc.). Monitoring the editing project *and* final encoded source on the same card... The information from MAudio forum was that the 610 can't playback thru its analog outs a multichannel source decoded inside Windows. I know some RME expensive cards like this one: http://www.rme-audio.de/en_products_fireface_uc.php can do that but have no clue about cheaper ones... Got the idea?

Well, it seems the Profire 610 is not a solution for 5.1 analog output playback: "The 610 and 410 use different drivers (the 610 is a ProFire series, the 410 a FireWire series). Interesting device indeed... The only drawback i can see is the firewire connection wich tend to disapear on laptops. Btw, it seems to be the only one from Maudio officialy supporting 7.1
