Just installed Vegas. No sound....
It's something outside of Vegas I guess. I don't know if it's being confused by another codec like DivX or what. Any other suggests are much appreciated.

Just installed Vegas. No sound....
to be codec-related or something similar. I say that because I just realized that my winamp is playing sound either. But the bsplayer and the wm player are playing just fine. headache...

Vegas, and other video programs...
If you looked at my desktop right now, your eyes wouldn't see any icons for video files. However, there IS one HDV file on the desktop. Now, if you tried to open this same HDV file in Vegas, you could, because you CAN see it in Vegas. But you CAN'T see this same HDV file if you looked at my desktop -- outside of Vegas. Why?

Reliable spanish audio translator software?
Actually, I know someone who can "fix" a very imperfect, crude Spanish translation. If I can get it to that point, I think I can cover the fine-tuning. Even if I can only get an audio speech to text English-only software, that would help. Any possibilities software-wise? Thx so much...

Frankly, I'm glad to see someone speak openly about the lavishness of the so-called traditionalists. Of course, you can make a movie for $10k - a good one, too. In 10 or so years, this guy's budget will represent the norm for a well-done action HD indie film.

Dubbed from a DVCAM to a mini-DV tape...
It's definitely a case of the original tape sounding/looking okay, and the dub is way off. I'll check on your suggestions. Thx

No, actually. The dubbed mini-DV is doing the same thing. Someone told me that it might be bit-rate disparity (i,.e., 12 instead of 16)? I haven't a clue.

nature, waterfalls, psychedelic, fire, etc... I'm doing an HD version of an SD show. http://sosohot.com/Staremagazine_Meets_SoSoHot_Promo.wmv See the backgrounds that have the moving "STARe" on them? I need HD versions of those or something similar. Thx so much for your input.

First attempt at HDV editing...
resources and info. I'll definitely look into all of it. But if you guys could indulge for another moment, I'm trying feverishly to get past one little part of my journey, and I thinkyou guys can get me there pretty quickly. This is what I'm dealing with, right now, specifically: My client handed me a big hard drive with about 1.5hrs of HDV footage. I edit the footage in the Vegas timeline. I'm using the "Project Setting" called "HD 1080-60i (1920x1080, 29.970 fps)", "Upper Field First", "1.000 (Square)", etc. I rendered the edited piece as an MPEG-2 (HD 1080-60i, Audio: 224 Kbps, 48,000 Hz, Layer 2, Video: 29.97 fps, 1920x1080,"Use this setting to create an HD 1080-60i MPEG-2 file.") The rendered file is an .m2t file, which is what, apparently, the client's camera records in. The image looks great - I see no problem with it. And the file size, while still "huge", is, as was suggested, nothing like the original HDV file). My question: Is it considered professionally acceptable to deliver the final product in an .m2t file? Is it considered a degradated image?

let me put it this way. I can take these same files and deinterlace them, render them in VirtualDub as uncompressed files, and they look great. There has to be a setting in Vegas that keeps me from having to go through that. Oris there? Thx
