Terrible performance for editing video in Vegas 15
Seems like this product is never going to be fixed. Whats the odds on a free upgrade to 16? That is if it works. I hope so ive only just brought Vegas Pro 15 held off for a long time,so id be extremely unhappy if 16 suddenly comes out,and leaves me with software which is not really working as it should,i shoud not have to be looking for work around for any of the major formats.

Ive had to go back to Prem pro cc18,it just works for me its stable,granted i have to wait for the footage to injest so to speak,but once its got that it runs flawless,Vegas Pro 15 is just still choppy and the crashing is just to much,its a real shame that it seems to be struggling with high bit rate formats,stuff coming off my Blackmagic shuttles just kill it,ill just wait for the next update to see if that gets it working,but i wont be upgrading to 16 and if that comes out before fixing all the issues with 15 ill be extremely un-happy.

I am on the brand new release and the performance is still lacking,ive even tried other graphics cards and the best one is a 1050ti 4 gig why this is i am baffled,my gtx1070ti 6g stumbles badly with any fades,yet just going back to other NLEs on my machine they all work perfectly,these include Avid,Adobe,and Resolve,all run at full res without any issues,no choppy play back,i also get some odd text issues,but at least Magix guys have got in touch with to try and find some answers.

Ive just read through this thread,thank god its not just me,its taken me a long time to come back and try Vegas Pro again after spending the last 2 yrs mainly in Premiere,and omg god 12 shots into a edit on Vegas it crashes locks up,and the play back is choppy,if i so much as use a fade it kills it,and im running a i7 32 gig,and gtx 1080 6gig card which should eat this,im using AVC into a MOV container and this simple footage from a gh3 im dreading using footage from arri as those files are huge,now please tell there is a fix for this ive disable mutli threading all the standard stuff,but choppy play back is still there,its a real shame as Vegas is a very fast editor but i find myself regretting jumping back,but i do still have Premier and Resolve.sad face

A few clarifications
Hi Gary, I'm really struggling to find the quality and value you talk about, I don't think anyone expects a company to survive on discounted products,but this is Magix first major outing with Vegas and I think alot of the current user base feels they deserve a very good deal to stay with the software, This is looking very un-likely now,the fact that most of he value added is via 3rd party is not so good, I myself already own high end software like Mocha for motion tracking, the full Bcc collection and pretty much most of the new blue fx,so I'm sure alot of the long term Vegas users also,so lets strip away what is really on offer, It's mainly a bunch of fixes which should have been done a year ago,the addition of rather odd functionality, This really should have been a free update to V13 owners or this may upset some a Fred update to those who have been with Vegas 10

A few clarifications
I'm so disappointed after years of using Vegas,years of working with and learning from other vegas users,the time has come to say goodbye to it, Magix really seem to have no clue about the loyal user base they are destroying,users who through thick and thin have upgraded with the hope of the big fix, All I've seen here is utter confusion,anger,and used let down by a company trying to compete in a high end market place,when their mentality is that of a company that deals in $45 software And before anyone jumps in a talks about sampletube that. That Started life in the hobby section and to most within the pro audio world it still is, So what else did we expect,i shouted out a few times I've still not got any emails I've seen no offers at all. I'll stick with Adobe now for the past 2 years they have opened my eyes on how a software house should be.

A few clarifications
Ill do it for a free copy 😉 can i ask who did the beta testing on this release, one other thing who is up-scaling for Ultra HD delivery, is this not 4k and above, surely you would be already working in this format,or am i being a little dumb here i dont think ive ever had a client come to me and say you know that HD content can you up scale it to 4K.

A few clarifications
Let's look at Magix,maybe they were not sure what they were buying when they took on SCS, Their product range has been aimed at the home market and the hobbie market,not so much the core industries, Alot of the old users are people who make their living from their craft,and maybe Magix came in with the wrong idea thinking that high a prices are something we come have to expect from the software houses, But some looking at the current market place,will show a big swing towards value and cutting edge updates, It pains me to say it but Adobe have nailed it now,and they are the giant killer,for $280 a year I get every single thing they make and its udated all the time,i get access to huge amounts of online content, For $80 a year I now have avid updating my audio suits, These systems work and they work well,im not a hobbyist I have to earn a living so I want to see value from everything I use

A few clarifications
I think Magix should re-visit their pricing structure,i personally think that the release should not even be a whole new version number,as all its doing is mainly fixing bug's,and I get annoyed that as a user and a long time user that I'm being asked to pay for something to fixed,the new additional functionality is stuff most other NLEs have had for a while now and to be frank are better at dealing with, And I'm pretty annoyed that no-one from Magix has jumped into this thread and involved themselves in the discussion,its Not a witch-hunt I've never known Vegas users do that, We do have heated discussion's,this should have been a $50 upgrade to long time users.

A few clarifications
this will be the FIRST time that I won't be "upgrading". Technically, nobody will be upgrading because it's not an upgrade, it's a time-limited offer for existing users to re-purchase at a reduced price, but open to everyone, including those who haven't already paid for a license. Nail on the head here,no its not really a upgrade,its a bunch of bugs fixed in a NLE that alot of us had already spent hard earned $£ on, As said a re-purchase at a bloated price,and not having ac3 is pretty poor, also no support for mxf other than sony,i have a demo now of 14 got to say that it's performance with Pro res is way off,plus DNxHD not a chance,bringing me back to mxf which belongs with these,this is meant to be a professional product yet it can't deal with these drooping out of my blackmagic hyper decks or shuttles

It's strange how Magix have not jumped in on this thread,but again earlier in it we had a great comments about them wanting the new users not so bothered about the old, We tend to moan,mainly down to the investment made in the software, And it seems that this thread is bringing out that previous customers are getting a raw deal, I'd like to see someone from the coding team come on here and give us a insider idea of what had to be fixed in 13 to merit a v14 and not V13.5, Going back to Mercedes comments (very funny ) I don't need a tee shirt I need a qaulity jacket, I so wanted to see a v14 that was a head,but instead we got stuff that's been around for years now being added and then I saw the up grade price ( coughed and said no way ) and this was all yesterday because I've had no emails to inform me of changes, And as for new blue stuff,why keep adding it I've more issues with their software than anyone elses,god its buggy in every NLE,why not use Red Giant universe as it just works, So Magix tell us what did merit a version upgrade and not just a update.

A few clarifications
Well this seems to a very Vibrant discussion,Vegas as a whole is a good NLE,and will.always raise a word or two,but Magix has to.up.the game to charge 199 for 14 as its no where near that value,not for owners of v13 or 12,fir new users that's different it would be good value,but the loyal users are being hit, granted SCS pricing is nothing to do with Magix neither is being loyal to ScS customer's,but looking at the business profiles of those in the same market place and what they offer.

Resolve is great,and you can get a version free,i mean free,the last 3 music videos I've worked on have used resolve the free version in fact they have brought out a whole load of tools which are totally free which is great way to bring people into the fold,and now resolve edits as well it's crazy.

A few clarifications
Indeed Kieth,Premiere Pro and Adobe have been a force within the industry in the last 2 years,snatching the final cut pro users and a good few Vegas uses, As you say the upgrade is not really so much of a up grade but of a catch up, I mean only now having pro res is not really a up grade,but a bring inline with other NLEs option, And it's still missing some features,such as editing at clip source enabling colour corrections to the to file before even going anywhere near the trimmer, But Vegas could be sooo good and I think most users who have ever used it knows,but I think in today's climate value for money has to be a massive point.

A few clarifications
Ok guys,well its been some time since ive been any form of Vegas forum,mainly down to SCS being lacking in recent years,that being said ive always moved with the times and up grade my versions,nad not really had any issues with V13,but i got to say so far ive had nothing from Magix about anything regarding Vegas Pro,so i was kinda shocked to see a new version hitting the streets and i was un aware,but i know ive given my details to Magix, now moving onto the main event after reviewing the up dates the price of $199 is way over the top,i already own titler pro 4 and the prodad stuff,along with hit film 4, and going back to a few comments earlier,i dont think there has been enough time for a development team to make real stable changes to the coding,which makes me feel this could be a money grab, maybe a token gesture to owners of V12/V13 PRO would have been a much reduced pricing structure to bring current users in to the fold and behind the Magix team, as much as i love Vegas Pro ive been burned to many times,and even though i still venture back to Vegas,i now seem to spend most of my time within the Adobe cc arena, so Magix make it so i want to come back to Vegas pro
