How Did Vegas Pro Get So Good?
Also editing with Vegas 20 pro for some hours every day. Have noticed that Vegas is rock stable - as were many earlier versions too, btw. Only things that sometimes can disturb here could be: 1) Bought third party plug-ins - especially when using these plug-ins in parallel - i.e. in overlapping transitions - and if these plug-ins use the GPU. The problems are easy to identify - and the solution is just to render these areas in separate sessions. 2) Too many concurrent Vegas sessions - Using Win 10 I have only 32 GB Ram and 8 GB GPU - and that seems to be too little for more that 2-3 heavy Vegas sessions at the same time. Absolutely no problem, however, just have to remember it. 3) "Inedible" media - i.e. from old cameras or cellphones - or i.e. from Topaz AI (264) which can be quite pesky when used together with other media on a normal Vegas timeline - for some strange reason (sometimes) I can't even get aound the problem re-rendering that output to mp4 (AVC) - but mostly it works when rendering the Topaz output to some .mts. I have not tried all Topaz output possibilities btw. - but do not care as long as I can get on with the editing 😀

Laptops
For some away-from-home editing I bought a new and very powerfull laptop - with i.e. a Nvidia 3060 mobile GPU etc - just to get negatively surprised how noisy it is when it blows all the heat out of that little laptop cabinet. Even simple previewing makes quite disturbing noise. Rendering makes you want to leave the room.

VP 18-19. No support GTX 970?
FWIW i just installed V19 on an old laptop (i5 7200U 8GB) with a Nvidia GTX 950m with 2GB - and Vegas utilizes that old thing well after I installed the proposed driver 472.12.

Agree! I would even pay to get the nice, clear and well recognizable V18 icons back.

Vegas Pro 19 "animate buttons" and FX's on/off
I do - and yes, you are perfectly right. Thank you. Hope that Magix will correct this issue very soon - it should, of course, be possible to see these buttons in all 4 of the possible interface greyscales.

You are right: filter was -as always- set to "Show favorites only" but now no templates are marked as favorites... No big issue - just kinda unexpected.

Pre-rendering was always like that - so I wonder what the new prerendering feature that I have heard rumors about should be - Marco mentioned it in one of his first V 19 posts here.

VP17 takes 1:30 to create the video plug-in factory
... again removed the 2 newest plug-ins (as described above) and now V17 starts without crashing. Then put back the 2 plug-ins - and still V17 starts without crashing. I think this is something that our Vegas programming gurus should check.

Wanted to reset Vegas 17 - entered TRUE in Internals restore all settings - and now Vegas 17 crashes at every start attempt while creating video plug-in factory. Think we have something fishy here...

That might also be a good idea - doing so here, however, just makes V17 "Stop working" while creating video video plug-in factory. Tried to start it 3 times. Fortunately I could put back my copy of that folder - and now V17 starts very quickly again.

A couple of days after installing new plug-ins my Vegas Pro 16 and Pro 17 started to crash at start-up while "Creating video plug-in factory". Both V16 and V17 always have used about a minute for this - at the first start after a PC reboot - but now they crashed persistently. Reading NickHopes post above I got an idea to try something else: I opened the folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX\Plugins - sorted by ascending Date modified - and then moved (not copied) the 2 newest plug-ins out of this folder to another folder on the Desktop. After this both V16 and V17 started without crashing. Then I moved the 2 plug-ins back into the folder - and still V16 and V17 start without crashing - and they now even build the video Plug-in factory in 1-2 seconds where they used about a full minute before. Then I rebooted the PC to check if the improvement stayed - and it did. PS: The 2 first plugins were the new version 4.1 IgnitePro and IgniteCore bundles - but I doubt that the problem had something to to with Ignite - it was rather something with the "Plugins" folder itself . Actually I have been able to start and use V16 and V17 several times after installing the Ignite plug-ins - until they both out-of-nowhere just started to crash.

@ENunn It seems you are using V16 build 307? there is a newer version, build 424, available. Maybe give it a try. Also it seems that you are using an older version of .NET - might be worth a try too.

V17 Crash when trying to use Help
As Grazie proposed I made a shortcut to the vegas170.chm -file on the desktop. Clicked it and Help starts as expected - but when I start typing something into the index-field it disappears from the desktop (crashes). Solution (Or rather a work-around): 1) Start HELP from a shortcut or from HELP in Vegas 17 2) Click Search and type something + Return 3) Now click Index - and now it does not crash any more. Seems to be a lasting solution - even if I restart Vegas 17 and use Help/Index it seems not to crash any more 🙂 Edit1: Closed V17 and rebooted the machine - and Help/Index still does not crash. Quite a pesky error - and difficult to find when testing.

VP16 B424: Prerender Files Immediately Get Removed?
Confirmed: 1) I tried to prerender using MainConcept MPEG-2 format and the prererendered files poppod up and stayed in the Vegas Temp folder until I closed Vegas. 2) Then I prerendered using the MAGIX HEVC/AAC Mp4 format and each of the prerendered file popped up - AND disappeared immediately - as in your example. EDIT: Tried to prerender with other Formats - and there the prerendered files did not disappear.

removing Jello / Rolling shutter issue from drone video - Vegas Pro 16
I have DJI Phantom 4 Pro v2. I was flying last weekend over the cemetery when the wind was blowing high. Maybe that was the problem, because this wind disturbed stability and maybe that`s why jello effect appeared. I will try to fix some shots up with Mercalli 4.Here is the video of my flying with jello effect. Concerning ND filters: In your video you can clearly see that the Jello-effect gets worse the more light there is in the motive. So, as Radomir writes: in order to avoid the video-noise you could set the ISO low - to i.e. 100 - and keep it there while you change ND filters (or use a Pol-filter) to keep the shutter speed at or below 1/100.

Editing with Sony Vegas on a 4K Monitor
Just like three years ago I can still recommend to use the high resolution in a 4K picture for a larger monitor. Using a 40" Philips monitor I get nearly the normal size icons - but an enormous workspace for having a huge stacked timeline, FX-window, Preview, Video Scopes etc etc all open in front of you and in a workable size.

Sound is important ..
After loop the original sound (piano and talk) is in the right track while the talking is in the left. If it were not for a very, very slight piano residue in the left track I would have thought that xberk had re-recorded the talking and replaced it in the left track afterwards ... Edit1: Strange: the piano is quite different in the before and the after - the tune and some more warm chords... Edit2: Definitely not the same piano recording... Edit3: The very slight piano residue in the left track is not from the "before" recording...

Youtuber claims he's sponsered by Magix / giving away Vegas Pro 16
The possible free cracks might not be the biggest problem - the question is what could be in the .exe file that you will receive and install on your PC. What I mean is that many internet homepages named like some known brands do promise latest drivers etc etc - but you never know what is in the .exe files that you download and install. Yesterday I was searching for a new driver for a Samsung scanner/printer - but had to skip 2 or 3 Google hits before I came to the right place. Take care: a lot of malware is lurking out there..

I think that the OFX'es are installed by the NewBlue installer to ere: "C:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX\Plugins\NewBlue\PaintBlends.ofx.bundle\Contents\Win64\PaintBlends.ofx" while the log-file from Vegas' reading the OFX'es is here: "C:\Users\Ritsmer\AppData\Local\VEGAS Pro\15.0\svfx_Ofx1_1_plugin_x64-'com.NewBlue.PEColoredPencil' (2, Filter).log" Edit 1: @Marco. Good that you also can reproduce the error. So let us hope that the dev team will improve this error. Pretty serious that the OFX transitions are (partially) broken.
