Chromakeying in Vegas, my results.
I greenscreen every week, and I do what you do every time. I choose the pure green screen preset and tweak from there (I first use a little chroma blur for nice edges). Fastest and best results for me using that method.

Absolutely freaking out - VP9 crashing repeatedly
>>That's actually preventable... it's because of the "Close media files when not the active application" option in the Preferences dialog. I've since turned mine off and it seems to help stability and speed slightly. Hey, it was on! It's one of the first things I do when I set up vegas - turn it off. I don't know how it came to be on again..... Thanks heaps for that!

Absolutely freaking out - VP9 crashing repeatedly
My copy of V9 has just started playing up as well. Worked well since the V9 release, but since about a week and a half ago, it's started to do weird things. 1. When I start Vegas after turning the PC on, it ALWAYS crashes and I get some problem reporting window come up. Start it back up straight away and it runs fine... 2. If I select a different window while vegas is running ie. word, web browser etc and then go back to vegas, vegas freezes for about 10seconds before it's responsive again. 3. Sat night I tried to render out my usual weekly project, but kept crashing at a certain section of the timeline near the end. I ended up trimming the ending a little and it rendered fine. This is a piece of footage that I've used heaps of times before. OS is Vista 64 I'm getting a little bit sick of the niggles, and will be using V8 until the 'a' release comes out.

Vegas 9 loses video files
Yep, I'm getting that as well. V9 64bit. Very annoying! I fix it by closing and opening V9 repeatedly until the files are "found" again! Happens quite regularly!

Bluray files on DVD for PS3
UPDATE 3: Original files were 1440x1080, so I rendered them out from vegas at 1440x1080 (I was was rendering them 1920x1080) with some slight sharpening, AND, encoded at 25Mbps CBR. Looks MUCH better! Nice and crispy.

UPDATE 2: Re-did it ising 25Mbps - a little better but nowhere near as good as I thought it would be... Maybe I'm expecting too much from the FX1? I was expecting razor sharp, being-able-to-see-every-blade-of-grass clarity......

UPDATE: My attempt in DVDA looks like uprezzed SD footage! missing the clarity. I had the bitrate set to 17Mbps....

Spewin! Don't you hate that? Fortunately you can get deleted files back ,provided that they have been written over. I used to used a program called R-studio NTFS which got deleted files back. I'm assuming there's quite a few programs that would do it now. Have a look on google. cheers Tim

Can you use Deshaker for HDV stuff? If so, you could make some pretty sweet DV footage from HDV source!! Plenty of frame to play with.....

HDV 50i to 25p in Vegas
Hi Spot. Thanks for your reply. Do you mean 50i or 50fps? I basically want to convert normal 50i fields to frames. This should give me normal motion at 50fps progressive. Slow it down to 25fps progressive and I should have a nice slow mo? Yes? No? I've seen it done to nice effect, I am just wondering HOW I can do it. Starting with HDV should yield some nice images after downconverting to DV. Thanks Tim

Oooops about the DVinfo posts!! I'll remember for next time. Thanks. Sorry, I guess I should of explained that the aim of doing this was slowing the resulting 50fps back down to 25fps for a nice slow mo. Is this a round-about way of doing it? Will the velocity envelope produce the same quality? Am I wasting my time doing it Rob's way? cheers Tim

Thanks guys for your help. Rob Lohman from DVinfo has suggested this workflow..... I assume you want to do slow motion? Start a 25p (!) project and What do you think?

Your view on "true" HD
Maybe it's people trying to justify their much more expensive HD camera??? HDV is HD in my opinion. HDV has the same resolution as HDCam, which is HD. Obviously there's a difference in quality in HDV to HDCam, but still is HD to me... my 2c Tim
