Select All Events After Cursor
There are also three Happy Otter free scripts available that select: (1) events after the cursor; (2) events under the cursor; and (3) events before the cursor. There is also a text script conversion tool between Sony and Vegas on the same page. They can all be found at https://tools4vegas.com/library/. Forgot to add there is also a script in the package that select all events that contain markers. Thank you. What a cool resource.

@video777 That was added from VP16 onwards ... It's available under the Edit tab, or right click any event ... "[Moderator Addition: A "Select All After Cursor" command has been introduced, allowing the user to select all events under and after the current cursor position, on either all tracks or selected tracks.]" Thanks. I see it now. It's not as efficient as pressing a hot key combination. I select all tracks to the end a lot. I appreciate the tip.

Naturally the implication is that somehow my system is not properly configured or I don't know what I'm doing. Keep in mind I said "implication" and that does not mean intentional or even actual. The crashes in SVP are very widely known and experienced by many of us. My level of computer experience is about as advanced as one can get. As a highly paid IT professional with two decades at the same place and many years before that as a programmer and IT consultant with my own business, I think I've tried just about everything. This system that I built last year was specifically designed to be powerful and exceed every possible requirement of SVP. I strongly suspect that the problems are related to NewBlueFX and NewBlueTitlerPro. I have worked with many NLEs and editing in SVP is my favorite as far as ease-of-use. I supposed I could dump all of my NewBlue stuff but would then need to use a 3rd party program to do my titles. Glad to hear it is working for you.

Just coming to this thread now. I see john-brown saying to watch for special deals. Allow me to give you my experience. I purchased SVP14 and was sadly disappointed. I have been dealing with crashes in SVP11 for many years. This is not unique with me and one only needs to check the web for all the complaints about all recent versions of SVP. I have had many computers during that time with fresh installs, etc. but it never made a difference. When I purchased SVP14 I had a functioning install of SVP11 (though it crashed frequently). I installed SVP14 and it would not even start. I uninstalled SVP11 and SVP14 and removed every shred of it, restarted, and installed SVP14 again. It still would not even open. When I reported it I was criticized by a Magix admin. While we all have much to learn I can say that as an IT Professional with decades of high-level experience, I can honestly say there was nothing wrong with my system. In fact, I built this current system from scratch (I've built hundreds) and used some awesome hardware and yet SVP14 would not even start. I'm running Windows 10 Pro and everything else runs great. Needless to say that after that Magix admin gave me a hard time I returned the product and am back using SVP11 with its crashes. I hope this helps in your decision-making process.

@video777 I think that this is a problem with some older plugin. One way to find it - is to remove all of them and install one by one again. 👎 So it may be related to my Vegas 11 install? I don't mind uninstalling the NewBlue plugins. I also have some other ones. Thanks for the suggestion.

I made the mistake of upgrading to Vegas 14 and so far it will not even start; it crashes on opening. Fortunately, it didn't break 11 which only crashes when editing.

VEGAS Pro 14 – Sophisticated results. From start to finish.
14 working well here. Doing an 47 minute tv feature and so far no crashes. DO not understand why so many are complaining. So because it works fine for you that means we do not have a legitimate complaint. I have tried so many things to resolve the crashes and Sony didn't care in the least about addressing it. They made a few feable attempts but with each new upgrade the problem persisted. Not only that but I had multiple computers with various versions of Windows and there was no difference. Please note that I am an IT professional with over two decades experience and even after building an incredible new computer with blazing fast components and Windows 10 Pro with a fresh install of SVP the crashes still continue. My belief is that NewBlue Titler Pro is the real culprit. I am willing to try version 14 but not for $349. I e-mailed them and other than an automated response they have ignored my message.

NewBlue Titler products on VP14
Virtually every crash that I have had with each version of Vegas Pro that I have owned has been related to NewBlue's Titler software. It doesn't even matter if I am currently editing a title. In fact, the crashes have gotten so bad that I save after every single edit. What bothers me is that we are being asked to once again pay for an upgrade in the hope that it will be better than the one we currently own. Yet, each time this exact same problem crops up. Again, I will say that even with that I would be willing to pay as much as $199 for the Studio version just to get the new features. I can't justify going higher than that with all of the reports of these ongoing problems.

I suggest that you try again. To fully and properly test it, you need to buy it, download and install the extra content, and activate the codecs. Magix has a 30 day money back guarantee. Thanks for the information. At this point I'm not willing to spend $400 even if it means I can get a refund. I'm probably going to just hold out hope for Vegas.

Sony Vegas Pro vs. MAGIX Movie Edit Pro Premium
I downloaded and installed MEP as a first test and loaded one short clip from my cell phone (.mp4) and one from my Panasonic video camera (.mts). I added one transition and one effect and everything seemed to be fine. I added a title and when I double-clicked it to edit the text it crashed the program. That is the extent of my testing with Magix products because this is the type of thing I experience with previous versions of their products. If I'm going to have to endure crashes, especially with the incredible system I just build a few months ago, then I'll stick with Sony Vegas Pro 11 which I know very well and can live with the crashes from it.

Of course Video Pro X is the best. It probably has a few features that Vegas Pro does not, but Vegas Pro has many advanced features that VPX does not have. Thank you. I was confused about their versions. I'm looking for something more professional like Vegas. It sounds like Video Pro X is the closest to that. I'm wondering if I should just wait to see what kind of changes come of these products after they purchased Vegas. My guess is we will start seeing features from one showing up in the other. My concern is that when Corel purchased PhotoImpact from Ulead they killed the product and that Magix might do the same with Vegas.

What are the upgrade prices going to on the 17th of october. Finally got trial running (18 day trial) and within minutes Vegas crashes. I believe the full suite upgrade is $349. Crashes: It sounds to me like nothing has changed for Vegas. I have purchased three different versions and ALL of them crash. With each new version I hoped that the crashes would be fixed. I was even hopeful that version 14 might be that magic one that would fix this ongoing problem that has made my editing difficult for so many years. I guess I'll be looking for something else. Thanks.

Have you tried Cyberlink PowerDirector? It also had a bug in smart rendered AVCHD when I tried it several years ago but I think it may be fixed now. Thank you so much for your response. I have not tried PowerDirector but will take a look at it.

We are in the same boat. I do not appreciate that you changed what I wrote. I wrote: "I can get my work done between the crashes. I need assurances and a much better price. Thank you." I did NOT write "can't." If you're going to quote me please quote me correctly. Thanks. To be clear: If they will not give a reasonable price of around $199 for the upgrade then I will not be upgrading and will continue to use Sony Vegas Pro 11, even with the crashes, or find another product. I simply can't afford to pay $349. I hope MAGIX is listening but I wouldn't hold out much hope.

VEGAS Pro 14 – Sophisticated results. From start to finish.
Today, I was in the process of trying out Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve. The reason is that I have finally had enough with Sony Vegas Pro 11 and the constant crashes. I was looking for others like Edius and saw something about Vegas Pro 14 which surprised me because I heard the product was dead. I am interested but there are three things that would hold me back from upgrading: 1) Ongoing crashes (usually from NewBlue plug-ins). 2) The reputation of Magix (I've owned a number of their products and have not been impressed). 3) The HIGH PRICE. DaVinci Resolve doesn't cost anything. For the $349 price tag for the Suite I would rather look at the other options or just continue using Vegas Pro 11. I can get my work done between the crashes. I need assurances and a much better price. Thank you.

Install V11 32 or 64bit on 64bit windows
I would install the 64-bit version. There is a performance advantage. I can't say you won't have any problems so I'll just say to save often. :-)

VHS - Best way to improve quality?
Thanks everyone for taking the time to help me with this. Unfortunately the capture device I bought does not save to AVI. The best quality is the MPEG-2 (DVD). I'm thinking that I won't be doing many of these so I'll probably keep what I've got and do one of two things: 1) Burn to DVD AS-IS. Or, 2) Apply some sharpen and color correction filters as needed. I appreciate all of your advice.

Video for Church
There is a lot to like about this video. One suggestion for the video as a whole is to mix the interviews together. What I try to do is to keep like comments together. For example, when I do videos for our local homeless shelter I typically start with "The Need." The first time each person comes on the screen I have their name and title but generally not any other time. The first person will say, "One of the problems in this area..." The next person says, "I couldn't believe what I saw..." The final person shares their thoughts. Then I move from how great the need is to ways each person is involved. I generally conclude with what it means to them. For example, "Since I've been working with... I have felt like I'm really making a difference." "It makes me feel good to know that I'm touching the lives of people in our community." Technical stuff (I think there were a few more and the major one was already mentioned) At 1:00 there is a dissolve; probably to cut out something. Then at 1:04 there is a jump cut. Suggestion: cut to some B-roll (aka other footage) starting at some point before 1:00 and going through 1:04. The second volunteer section is very nice except the jump cuts at 2:18 and 2:56. I really like the B-roll that you have here and your timing. It helps to tell the story and is done well. When the last guy is saying his name I would let him finish before cutting to the ending text. The bottom line: With some polish this would be an excellent video. As it is now it is very good and gets the message across; which is most important. I like to work out any of those little bugs before showing it to the public. Good work and thanks for sharing.

CS 5.5 Master Collection $179.80 (Ed Version)
I agree with the others that there's nothing wrong with posting this offer. Especially since this is a loyal Vegas user and not someone trying to get people to switch to a different NLE. I have been wanting to acquire a copy of the entire Creative Suite for years. I don't qualify for educational discount but here are my top reasons: 1) I currently use PhotoImpact (formerly Ulead now Corel) which virtually nobody has ever heard of and is no longer being developed. I want to switch to PhotoShop. 2) I have a number of programs that do things similar to AE but NOTHING that even comes close. When I see sites selling products they almost always are either exclusively for AE or AE and FCP and PP. 3) It is important to me to be skilled in using various NLEs. I generally have 3-4 on my system at any given time but like several others have commented, many people have never even heard of Vegas. I use it for virtually everything now but still want to experiment with PP.

I wish I could acknowledge each of your posts but one thing that stood out is regarding switching from 4:3 to 16:9. I just got a new HD camera and now all three of my cameras can do wide screen so I edited my first all wide screen project in October. I had two camera operators and one static camera that I used mostly for ambient audio. It was for a magic show that I was actually in. I did two Houdini escapes: Siberian Shackle Escape and escape from a Regulation Straitjacket. I used humor as well. I came out with "Magic Man" by Heart playing. I was wearing sunglasses, jeans and a leather jacket. Smoke was rising up around me. Lots of fun!

Thank you all so much! I truly appreciate constructive criticism and especially given in the spirit that you have all given it. A few things and this is in no way to make an excuse for my video: 1) I was given three days to make this. It was played last Easter at our church. For some reason our music minister thought someone else was taking care of it. I didn't have a lot of time to give it the kind of attention that all of you have written about. I WILL be reading and re-reading your comments for future projects. I might even make a new version of it and edit it down to three minutes and incorporate the ideas you have all given me. If I did it would just be for fun and to improve my skills. 2) I was required to use this song exactly as it was. The choir actually sang along with it and I created a Click Track that only the drummer heard. The music director watched him so he could correctly sync the choir and orchestra to what I created. 3) This was mostly Royalty Free and I am not concerned about copyright laws for this particular project. Our church pays fees to use the music in various ways. BTW - I do take copyright laws seriously. 4) I am not a beginner and have been doing digital video editing since 2001 (and actually prior to that on analog). I was heavily involved with Pinnacle Studio, starting with DV but had used other versions prior to that. I ended up doing beta testing for many subsequent versions of Studio and then Liquid. In fact, Pinnacle flew me to their headquarters in Mountain View. Jim Thill and I did a live webcast and he introduced me as their "Liquid Expert." They even had me wear a shirt that said that and they gave me the shirt. They liked it so much that they asked if I would record one to be shown the next week. They are still up on the Avid/Pinnacle site. I've actually done hundreds and hundreds of projects. Everything from the usual concerts, plays, magic shows, weddings and funerals to going into prisons, homeless shelter promos, community center and other charity promos and others. One thing I am thankful for, the people watching it don't analyze it like you and I do. I had a lot of very positive comments. So at least it got the point across. In fact there are a couple spots that still cause me to tear up a little. Again, I very much appreciate all the thought you put into your comments. I promise that I take them very seriously and upon reflection agree with virtually everything that was written here. If anyone wants to add anything that would be fine. Thank you! :-)

Hmmm... I wonder who that could be? I think back on my days through the various forums and must say that I am not happy with all the things I said but stand by some of them. I have a long history with computers and video editing going back to before Studio DV. Do you remember when I was a beta tester for 4 or 5 different versions of Pinnacle Studio and later Liquid Edition. Pinnacle even flew me to Mountain View to do LIVE webcasts. I've been extremely happy with Vegas (with some exceptions). Anyway, hello and I'm glad someone remembers me. -Allen Pilgrim :-)
