Prosumer Camera Recommendations
I did a lot of research and decided to not spend several thousand dollars on what might arguably be called "Prosumer" and instead opted for the Panasonic TM900. I must say it has exceeded my expectations. We just recorded a magic show which had plent of low-light moments and it did a very nice job. Outside the colors and quality are incredible. It's as if you are looking out a really clean window. It really is just like you are there. I did end up buying it from Amazon as it was about the best price around, plus I know they will take care of me. Thanks Steve. I installed the GeForce 285.79 beta driver for my GeForce GTX 260 video card and it seems to have solved the problem. I tried to make it crash and it won't.

Surprised that I'm penalized for purchasing Boxed
The other disappointing thing is there is nothing special about it. I would have rather saved the extra money and just downloaded it immediately. Usually companies give some bonus material when purchasing boxed but there wasn't even a book that amounted to anything.

Crash, Crash, CRASH!
UAC is one of the first things I disable so that's not the problem in my case. I really think I should uninstall and use the 32-bit version. Maybe I can get the use of some of my plug-ins that I had purchased for v8 when I was still 32-bit. Regardless, Sony and/or NewBlueFX needs to fix this. I'm leaning more toward Sony being the problem. This is a side note: I'm amazed at how little changed between v9 and v11.

Crash, Crash, CRASH!
Add me to the group of people who have constant crashes. However, I am convinced it is because I am running the 64-bit version AND have NewBlueFX Titler Pro installed. It basically crashes every time I touch a title. As long as I avoid those I can edit everything else. It takes a long time to do one title, wait for the crash to finish, restart, find my spot, edit the next title (assuming I was able to save the one I edited). I installed the latest version of SVP 11, NewBlueFX Titler Pro and updated my video card to the latest drivers. I am running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit (I know I haven't updated my profile in a long time). Is it possible to run the 32-bit version of SVP?

New Blue Titler Crashes Vegas 11 x64
I can't even edit a title created with this. It crashes virtually every time. I do have the latest version but I installed it over the old one. I will uninstall and reinstall and then report back.

Vegas Pro 11 Build 425 Still Missing 60/50p Render
Has the New Blue Titler "nag" window about upgrading graphics drivers been resolved? I was glad it let me know because I got some new functionality after upgrading. P.S. I'm going to look up how this forum does quotes. :-)

Combining AVCHD Video
I just need to change my way of thinking. The reason I think of one big file is because I capture an entire tape that is usually 90 minutes. For example, when we record concerts we have three cameras with two tapes each (unless they are under 90 minutes). I then have either three or six videos to deal with. It might be interesting to note that I have used virtually every version of Studio, Avid Studio, Liquid, and a whole host of other video software. I was a beta tester for many versions of Studio and Liquid and dropped out of the Liquid program when it was clear they were killing it off. That's when I switched to Vegas and have loved it ever since. I'm also going to buy the Adobe Creative Suite with Premiere and all the other goodies (more for After Effects and PhotoShop than for Premiere). Pinnacle also flew me down to Mountain View and featured me as an "Expert" on two of their web sessions. It was so cool being in their studio with all the green screen, lighting, cameras and tons of equipment. It was quite the experience.

Jerry, Thanks for the amazing help. Usually I click on icons to see what they do but for some reason I never tried that one. That is a cool setting. I enjoyed your tutorial and it is well done. One final question (I think), why 59.940 and is that true for both of the formats we discussed here: 1080 60p and the AVCHD - HG 1920? Okay, I have one more question: how do people generally refer to these formats? I appreciate your patience with me, I've been doing video since back in the early Pinnacle Studio days (even before Studio DV), but this is the first time I've done these formats.

Combining AVCHD Video
First, the naming convention of you import suggests that you are using Vegas Device Explorer to import your clips. That should already combine the clips that the camera split into 4GB segments. It sounds like you might want to combine all your AVCHD clips into one large one. That would not be my workflow (but, hey, everyone's different) - you can find more info in the following recent thread: AVCHD MTS File Conversion to maintain quality Yes, I used the Device Explorer except it basically just copied them exactly as they are stored on the the SD card. When I connect via USB and copy them they are the exact same size; only the names are different. I use NTFS which may explain why it doesn't cut it off at 4GB. I'm always curious - what is your workflow? Next, you don't say what format you're shooting in, however, the standard advice in setting Project Properties is to use the "Match Media Settings" dialog to match your project to your source footage. The format is AVCHD - HG 1920 if I'm looking in the right place. Also, where is the "Match Media Settings"? Particularly, if you're shooting in 1080 60p, you'll probably want to save your own custom template for repeat use. The first video I did was 1080 60p (the highest setting on this camera). I was able to edit it in SVP 9 with little problem. The RAW footage was very jerky but when I output it to a standard NTSC setting it was fine. The problem is I do not see any setting in Vegas for either of these formats. The closest even in 11 is "HD 1080-60i (1920x1080, 29.970 fps)." As far as your Render Settings are concerned, that entirely depends upon your distribution method. YouTube? BluRay? Standard DVD? Local Play? I understand except I'm wanting to piece them together in the same quality to keep as RAW footage and THEN edit that one in my final project. For example, when I capture my tapes I name them "My Event (11-6-11) #1a (representing camera #1 one, first tape)". I want to name this "My Event (11-6-11) #2 (since there is only one file)." However, I could just name them with a, b, c, etc. but since I'm kind of like Monk I'm not so sure about that. :-) Hope this helps and enjoy your new camera! I am loving it! Thanks Jerry.

9a - Sample Text - BUG
9.0a 64-bit version on Vista 64-bit has this problem. I was shocked when all my hard work was replaced with the generic text. There are other issues with this version but I want to stick with the topic.

Terje, I was not speaking to you. I was responding to jmeredith. If you have a specific comment about the video please share that rather than attacking me. I disagree with virtually everything you said but I don't think it's a good idea to continue this. Technically this video is incredible. I still don't like it. I made a specific comment ABOUT the video whether you like it or not. You're right that this is a place for us to discuss the technical aspects of a video. However, how a video makes one feel is equally, if not more, important. What I care about is the experience the audience gets from watching a video. Whether you use a jump cut, dissolve, or fancy transition is a small piece of that. We learn technique so we can convey the story effectively.

A quick look at your website and work explains why you don't get this video. BTW, if all you're going to do is string together JumpBacks, VideoTraxxx and StackTraxx/other audio, you might want to state that upfront instead of implying that you actually shot/created any of this material on your own. This is an unbelievably childish comment. Because I don't like something you criticize my work. Bizarre! The video you are referring to has nothing to do with the kind of videos I create, nor did I imply that I shot the video. My customers are extremely happy with my work and I am constantly busy. I have repeat business from virtually everyone I've done projects for. In the future when someone makes a comment don't attack them because they do not like it. I do understand that this video took a lot of work and can even agree that I would not be able to do something like this. However, I still did not enjoy watching it. No offense was implied or intended to the people who worked so hard on this.

Authoring program (other than Architect)
Have you used DVD Menu Studio. Curious if it can be used in DVDA? I see a generic export. Do I have to go through photoshop to use it? No, I'm not familiar with that product.

I've only had one glitch: A project that had 4 videos on one DVD sometimes wouldn't play on some DVD players; could it have been the Ridata DVD media? Possibly. I use ProDisc DVD-R printable white and I don't think I've ever had one fail out of thousands and thousands. My DVDs range from 30-150 minutes. Often times there will be 4 videos: main, outtakes, backstage, promo, etc.

Thanks Jack. I will enjoy it until the 15-day trial expires. There is no way I'm paying $129.95 for this. I can see there are other features but not really any I need. If it was around $49 I would have already bought it. Does anyone know where to get a FREE script that simply selects every track on the timeline to the right of the cursor? This is something I do all the time. Thanks.

You CAN preview it using the PRO Extensions which are included. I rarely use them because my DVDs really turn out great. :-0) I do miss using Studio in this regard because it has such a fantastic method of seeing exactly what's going to happen right from the timeline. Obviously, I don't miss it that much.

Select events to end is handy but it's track specific. There's a script called, select-events-from-cursor that I find invaluable. Where please? This would be extremely helpful. Thanks.
