Sorry I posted this!! I'm pretty sure my shuttle pro is broken.. I plugged it into another computer with windows XP Pro and nothing... the computers are just not seeing it. So I took it apart and couldn't see nothing really wrong so I am assuming it must of just burnt out over the years of being plugged in but not being used, as I have been doing mainly photography for the past couple of years. Sorry for the troubles Mike

Yup, installed the Win 7 beta drivers for shuttle pro 2 and rebooted and reattached and still the big X on the shuttle icon in the system tray... I can right click on it and it will only bring up the "about" screen of the program. Send them emails if we are going to get drivers!!! Later

I just installed the version 2 drivers and it's not working.... just shows a big X through the shuttle icon in the task bar. Only 1 video bus?
Just add the effect on "track level"... but what I think would be great for the video buss is to have all the same things that are on track level like: Pan/Crop, Track Motion, blending modes all key framable? How about it SONY EDIT: Sorry didn't relize the effect was Motion blur you wanted - they should have that as an effect for clips.

Blink - u keep saying that Liquid is droped and dead.... My opinion on all these Vegas bug reports
My problems: RENDERING - this is the major thing that keeps me from using Vegas 8 (PRO??*%$#) Everything hangs on render!!!!!!!! Prerender will render at the most 2 chunks, and then hang and continues to count down while hanging - I have waited as long as a miniute - then I have to alt + Ctrl + del too end task with vegas. No other way around. RENDERING TO FILE - same thing, hangs - but then after ending task with vegas i have discovered the file actually has rendered???? Conclusion: Can't use Vegas - nothing renders without ending task! Just so you know... This is the cleanest install of windows and Sony Software - That is all there is, Windows XP Pro with service pack 2 and Sony Software I can also repro the Ctrl + envolope seizure thing. Seeing everybody is not experincing the same problems - the only logical reason I can think of is that there is something HARDWARE/SOFTWARE related.....with some pretty serious underlying bugs in VP8... I think sony/SCS (like Matrox) should compile a list of certified motherboards, ram and video/sound cards and OS requirments... I think that would save EVERYBODY alot of problems... 8c will be the deciding factor for me to switch - I've been a loyal user and love Vegas's UI and the audio side of Vegas is untouchable by other Vendors.... But I have been waiting sooooo long for 8c to upgrade to a new quad system and 64bit support... but if the bugs are still there I will be moving on even tho I paid for and never used VP8.... STEP UP TO THE PLATE SONY AND REPLY

I wasn't putting it up against Vegas Pro 8 - just saying that it looks like the interface was just like Vegas in many ways. It doesn't have any of the audio goodies that Vegas has, and that is probably the only thing that keeps me from switching to another NLE... But I'm just sick of the waiting and the disappointments with the last 3 revisions - and sony's complete silence as to what is taking so long for 8C and what is comming in the future. I came abord (from Matrox/Adobe) earily Vegas 3 and LOVED IT!!! And when Vegas 4 came out it was ground breaking - every other NLE scrambled to get scopes and 5.1 surround sound implemented. I even went back to the Matrox fourms and boasted about Vegas and I do believe alot of people defected from Matrox's limited "2 realtime layers" to have no limites editing that Vegas offered for an outstanding price. But that has all changed now... Where the ones that are behind and trying to implement things that other NLE have like 32 bit float (that don't work for most) I am thinking about going back to Matrox/Adobe as of late actually - there not so secretive and anounce on there fourms what is comming in the future and the support is very good. But I still hate premiere. I am not trying to start a flaming war. I respect alot of the talented people on these forums and there help - I'm just stating what I think about Vegas and it's progress. I really hope it all works it self out soon cause i still love Vegas.

Update to fix the crashing with 8.0b's renderer?
I feel your pain.... I bought this latest V8Pro after skipping version 7 to get some of the latest features in Vegas, like the titler (FINALLY- although it is way to complicated) , multicam editing, and blue ray DVD's This was an ambitious release by Sony but they HAD TO KNOW OF ALL THE BUGS prior to release. The fact that it is taking 8c so long to be released is because there are MAJOR FLAWS and issues. Hanging renders, memory managment, 32bit render, ac3 render, poor support for quads, no official Vista support...... Im sure there is more but I pretty much don't edit with V8pro because its so flakey. I was once a VERY proud Vegas supporter and fought tooth and nail with other Adobe, Final cut, Avid users to try Vegas cause it's such an awesome peace of software... But sence Sony took over Sonic Foundry it has been a steady downfall. Support is virtually non-existent, remember when Sonic Foundry owned it we actually had the coders them selves talking to us on the fourms and trying as hard as they could to help us out. This just sucks sony - try harder!!!

Vegas 9 - Fall?
What I really want to know is all that talk of AMD and ATI and 64bit still going to happen??? I am in desprete need of an computer upgrade but am holding out until 8c is released and working without hanging renders and better support for quads??? Or are they going to go through with this AMD/ATI 64 bit thing? I would like to know before I invest in an Intel quad system and then they roll out this AMD/ATI 64 bit rumor. Are the intel processors 64 bit?

WOT - Sony DSLRs - Any good
I have the Sony A100 and im pretty happy with it.. The in body image stabilization is really helpful and is what made me go with the sony over the competition - the stabilization with the competition is built into the lenses and therefore make the lenses cost alot more... Another factor in my decession is that you can use all of the old Minolta A mount lenses. Minolta were known for making some really good lenses with what is now called "legendary minolta colour". The only really bad thing about all the sony's (except the A700) is that there not good in low light - ISO preformance is not good. I recomend you buy only a camera body first and then shop around for a used lens on ebay. I recomend the Tamron SP 17-50mm Di II. Vegas Pro 8 - Render Problems and LOTS OF OTHERS
Just bumping this up cause its a real issue - just tried to render a simple .mp3 and it brought Vegas 8a and my computer to its knees. Had to reboot

OT: Canon Digital Rebel XT SLR Body $382
it was 799.00 with the 18-70mm lens and battery. Not quite the bargin of that Rebel XT model but i think it has more features and a 10.2 megapixel CCD - super steady shot, and all the manual features you can ask for.

Koolmoves
I used Koolmoves a long time ago - it's pretty much a GIF animator for the web - vegas will probably except what you export from Koolmoves but I doubt it will look good. Not sure if it supports Alpha channel in exports

What causes render freezes?
update: Vegas rendered the file and hung at 100% complete but the clock kept on counting, I let it go for about 10 mins before I had to end task to close Vegas. Tried to open the file in windows media player and it was all studdering and the audio was all out of wack - I then opened vegas again and dropped the rendered file on the timeline and it played fine???? This could be a quicktime issue - StormMarc, could you remove the quicktime files from your timline and see if you can both prerender and render out to a file and report back what happens? Thanks

What causes render freezes?
Im having a similar issue with rendering - and I also have quicktime/.mov video on the timeline?? If I try to slectively pre-render the timline, it hangs/freezes after the 2nd chunk is rendered (vegas pre-renders in chunks) it is that "tori Amos" contest files that was mentioned here in an earlier post... I only have a GIG of ram installed and the pagefile stops growing after 480MB - I'm currently rendering out to an .avi file and it seems to be working. The timeline is about 5mins and has Croma key and Croma blur added on track level - settings are 8bit render - tried 32bit and it froze. Diffinetly some render issues with Vegas Pro 8a sony support?
