I would use the new crop and PIP FX, instead of the pan/crop tool (and track motion tool), when it would be also automatically added to an event on the timeline (like the "old" pan/crop tool does). At the moment the it's not convenient to add those FX manually each time when you need them. At the moment it's still more convenient for me, to keep using pan/crop tool and track motion to achieve crop's and PIP's.
