Just tried it V18 and it works OK on my system. Here are the properties of the latest rq dll.

And here is what the DMFS RenderAs dialog should look like.

@wwaag I have that problem, same error message as reported above, on my laptop and desktop. I tried installing the latest version of HOS on my older 4790k PC, was previously working there. I now get an error on installing.

I only found one log file in the Documents folder, debug.log.

Contents ... [0530/160706:ERROR:renderer_main.cc(226)] Running without renderer sandbox.

Ok, did a search for it, its in the \Documents\HappyOtter\Scripts\ folder.

Whats the email address to send to?

@wwaag Thanks. Is now running in VP17 on main PC.

What email address to attach the "HappyOtterInstall.log" file to, issue with error messages on old 4790k PC. In your "Contact" on main page I don't see that I can attach a file.

The interesting thing is that although I got error messages on re installing HOS, it's actually running, on 4790k.

my happy otter scripts does not ott anymore since i updated on 1.0.3.11. the license got removed and when i wanted to reactivate it tells me my limit is reached. that is a sad otter now!

oh and i have a question regarding 10bit. before i looked a bit closer into HOS about that, no matter what i chose in the renderplus settings and which profile i selected in vdub, the vdub status window (which you can display during its rendering) always just showed me its doing only 420 color matrix despite the source being 422 and 10 bit. and i dont think that status information in vdub is just to dismiss if it tolds me clearly what input it was. and i doubt its a vdub problem, its more like on its way to vdub (maybe avisynth?) is set wrong and telling/giving vdub not the correct videomaterial?

frmax schrieb am 17.11.2020 um 00:45 Uhr

Same here!

In HappyOtter 1.0.3.3 OtterMenu works, but if Otterbar is clicked, running VP 17 Pro and VP 18 Pro crashed without error messages

Even worse: Updating to HappyOtter 1.03.11 crashed starting VP 17 and VP 18 when "creating windows"

Kasperski Antivirus warns of Otteractivate.exe as a trojanclicker and wants to remove it.

Returning to Happyotter 1.0.2.73 makes Vegas stable again, but now HappyOtterscripts are in "public beta" status, exspiring 15.05.2020.

I have a license, my System I9 9900K 32GB RAM, RTX 2080, Windows 10 Pro 20H2

i had in the past with certain updates of HOS the same issues about windows warnings, its just a thing about windows sometimes it marks downloaded .exe files as unsecure because the website it was loaded from got for some reason on an index by microsoft etc. i trust so far wwaag because i reported that a long time ago in the beta phase and he put up a the sha hash on the download page.

@frmax

The problem is definitely the AntiVirus software you are using which has the effect of removing OtterActivate.exe ,which in turn, results in Vegas crashing since that file is missing and throws an unhandled exception. I'll be releasing a new build tomorrow that at least handles such exceptions and informs the user of the issue and how to solve it. The error dialog will look like this.

The file in question will now be digitally signed, but it still registers a "false positive" in Kasperski and ZoneAlarm. However, 70 of the 72 engines consider the file "clean". I've contacted the licensing developer to see if additional steps might be taken.

ehm. no i had no fatal error. and i have no idea why i now am considered connected with that problem, because i did not report about antivirus stuff, i dont use antivirus software other than the build in by windows which i restricted heavely to not do actions on itself.

i think i am being mistaken with frmax right now or so.

my problem was simple that the license just got deleted from HOS after i updated. BUT come to think it could have a connection with my recent windows 10 upgrade to 20H2, because funny enough on my TMGEnc Video Mastering Works 7 also the licensing got deleted and even my softmaker office 2018 needed to be reactivated.

that still does not resolve the problem that i could not reactivate HOS because it replied the limit has been reached.

but i will wait now till hopefully the next 7 days my new amd 5950x arrives.

@wwaag  my Norton 360 also identified some files as virus and removed them. See screen shot:

So it is not related only to Kasperski and ZoneAlarm! Why Antivirus marks those files as viruses in first place?

wwaag schrieb am 17.11.2020 um 23:01 Uhr

@yassera-s

"Why Antivirus marks those files as viruses in first place?"

In all honesty, I have no idea and there is no way that the various virus detection engines will reveal how their detection algorithms work. Digital signing helps, but beyond that I have no idea.

I must admit that I'm skeptical of most add-on AntiVirus software apps beyond what's built into Windows.
