Seems like a post like this pops up every 30 days. Is this a form a internet forum shell shock?

Where is the new update for V12 enabling gpu rendering? That is the real question.

I was on this forum for many years, then left a few years ago when some folks began arguing politics and religion.

Fortunately, that is not happening any more.

I am not aware of the issue(s) involved, but by all means take some time off and enjoy other aspects of life. Perhaps in the coming weeks or months the forum discussions will feel more "mellow" to you. They certainly do for me, compared to a few years ago.

How about vacation from the forum? That is what I have been doing.

Sometimes it helps to get away for a while but only for a while.

Still, I understand it. I have not spent as much time on this forum lately and don't know what the final straw was for you. But, I hope you'll enjoy all that is important to you and decide to come back here from time to time.

Fortunately we have a fantastic Search feature on this forum that goes way back. If you take a look, there are others who have made great contributions to the forum, have gotten frustrated in one way or another, and said they were leaving. Fortunately most of them returned because if you participate in a lot of other forums you begin to realize how good this one is and most of all how helpful thanks to the genuine desire of it's members to help the others.

I hope you change your mind.

A few years ago, I happened to notice that a video edit timeline looked a lot like the audio editing timelines that I was used to and thought I would have a go at it. After a brief and frustrating couple of weeks trying to get my head around Final Cut Pro (version 2 I believe), I loaded a trial copy of Vegas 2 on a P3 laptop and immediately felt at home. I got further in the first hour with Vegas than I had in weeks with FCP.

Since that time, this forum has been invaluable to me. I really have learned most of what I know about video here, or through resources that I learned about here. Over the years, what started as a hobby has become a livelihood, and I really must say, I love doing what I do. I have left the forum a time or two briefly, but I've always come back. Nowhere else let's me have involved conversations about the fine points of this craft that are such an important part of my life.

The projects I do are all very small scale. I do local ads, videos for my church, and every so often, a documentary. While the projects are small scale, the end quality is so much better than I ever imagined I could get, and really that is thanks to all of you. There is something therapeutic about being part of a group which works together to improve the quality of the art form which they all love. I've been here for years and I'm here to stay.
