RE: dvd will not hold 1hr 58min avi
I created a DVD project in DVD-A 1.0 with 12 separate video clips. Most of the video clips were 9 minutes at 26 seconds long (which is a 2 GB file in DV format). In "optimize DVD" I adjusted the bitrate to fit, with 4% margin just in

RE: scene selection menu...strange...
rstein, What was the duration and estimated size of the menu before the audio was added? This can be determined in the Optimize DVD dialog (File | Optimize DVD...). What was the duration and estimated size of the menu after the audio was

RE: What is the amount of data you can fit on DVD?
Wow! Thanks for the comprehensive and detailed reply. I'm afraid that I am probably as lazy as you can get when it comes to working out the calculations for fitting my data on to DVD. I just find it easier to import my AVI files into TMPGEnc Plus

RE: Now I am really screwed up
If you want your audio not to be re-encoded, you have to render the audio separately as AC-3 or uncompressed WAV (i.e. PCM). PCM audio will take up more space then MPEG audio, so the estimated size of 4.8 GB is correct. You can reduce the size

RE: DVD Content Creation Compression?
If you go to the Optimize DVD screen, there is a slider and bit-rate text box where you can adjust the final bitrate. Above that is an estimated size that will change dynamically as you enter new numbers or slide the slider. You could adjust this

RE: Stopping Recompression?
Hi, When ripping the DVD movies I used DVD2AVI. This provides a link that allows TMPGEnc to re-encode the .vob files. It produces a separate .wav file for the audio. (Approx 360 MB) This I converted into an AC-3 audio file in Vegas. (Approx 45

RE: Two questions
OK--I figured out the answer/solution to question 1. I imported an mpeg which originally came from elementary stream sources (m2v and ac3). I multiplexed the two together in TMPGEnc and imported the mpeg file. I assumed the audio associated

Two questions
1. I started a menu driven dvd and imported a one hour mpeg file. I scrubbed through the timeline and created chapter points and went back to the main menu. When I right click on the menu button corresponding to the video clip it gives me an

MPEG2 - Gaining maximum quality at the right file size?
Hi, Am I the only one to think that all the existing encoders (including MainConcepts) for converting DV to MPEG2 for transfer onto DVD, requires a degree in the black arts? I am producing movies of varying lengths. When I convert them to MPEG2,

RE: Newbie Question about CD-RW and DVD
Thanks, and I was hoping you'd reply because I've read a lot of your messages. So my best bet is to use SVCD with MPEG-2, and it will play on (many newer) DVD players and on PCs, correct? And it should play whether the viewer is using RealOne or

RE: MPEG encoding guide
The MPEG-2 manual's goal from the start was to: 1) Provide some basic MPEG Q&A 2) Give a brief explanation of each custom control 3) Provide a reccomended setting for each control for SVCD and DVD 4) Give a why you should or shouldn't touch
