    RE: Capture from Youtube?
I wish I could claim authorship of the script. I think someone else here in the forum posted a link to it about a year ago. As to getting the MP4 files to play on the Vegas timeline, well, I haven't figured out a way to make that happen natively.

OK yes, it (AviSynth multi-thread hack) ROCKS. 80% CPU use now.. AviSynth script using SansGrip's "NoMoSmooth" motion-compensated denoiser. Before the hack it was only 15% i.e. about 1 core's worth. Having replaced avisynth.dll by Jeremy

RE: OT: Help me find a budget priced TV
The thing with Amazon and Newegg reviews is there are not answering the question of which TV is better? this or that?. The question they are answering is you happy with your TV. It doesn't mean the reviewers have even seen the other set.

RE: OT: Help me find a budget priced TV
I bought a panasonic 1080p plasma this Feb. Last year's model, 42". I love it. Colors are rich without being distorted and movies look fantastic because of the rich blacks. If you're a movie person, I would go with plasma. This year's models use

RE: OT: Help me find a budget priced TV
I bought a Panasonic TC-P42X1 plasma TV a few months ago. It's fantastic. At 720p it was priced much lower than the 1080p televisions and there is no visible difference in a screen that size. It has an analog and digital tuner. The blacks are CRT

    RE: A/V Passthrough
Here is how it works on my Canon ZR. I think it is pretty similar on your Elura. 1) Turn on the camera in "Playback (VCR)" mode, not camera mode. 2) Push "Menu." 3) Push "VCR Setup." 4) Scroll down and push "AV->DV Out." 5) Select "On." 6)

New Intel Processors - ?faster AVCHD editing
JefUK gave the following information in the AV Forum and has agreed that I may copy it here as it may be of interest to Vegas editors. A new range of Intel processors, and their associated chipsets will be launched next week. These will redefine

    For Laurence: interlace test case
I created a very simple, short 1920x1080 PAR 1.00 clip that has the odd lines red and the even lines black. You can put this on the Vegas timeline and experiment will all sorts of things: project settings; render settings; changing the clip's

RE: Another (better?) AVISynth noise reduction script
Make sure you edit the script, if necessary, so that the actual location of your plugin files matches what is in the script. Alternatively, you can comment out the plugin loading lines (the first lines of the script) by placing a "#" in the first

Another (better?) AVISynth noise reduction script
Back in early 2003 I first posted about how to reduce chroma and luma noise in VHS video captures. The original technology I used then seems pretty crude now. I guess all of us have experienced this feeling as digital video technology has

RE: SD to HD and Deinterlacing
AviSynth's TDeint plugin. Does motion-compensated (mo-comp) deinterlacing i.e. chases after moving pixels and "grabs them". Can even be told (mode 1) to turn 50i into 50p. Vegas won't recognize ".avs" files directly but VFAPI can act as

If I remember correctly there used to be a setting for DivX/Xvid, or something along those lines to get it to work in Vegas. Hasn't been a prob for quite a while, AFAIK, but you might have an older version installed, especially if it's off a disc

RE: Anyone use Virtual Dub for resizing?
FWIW, if you can do it in V/Dub, you can do it in AviSynth, plus some. Biggest hassle is Vegas not accepting .avs files, unlike P/Pro etc. [hint hint Sony]. Advantage? 1 is you can use AviSynth to manipulate the file before it gets to Vegas'

RE: opening MOV files from FCP into V9
The problem with 64 bit Vegas, or any 64 bit video app, is that every piece in the chain has to be 64 bit. All it takes is one of the needed decoding files to be 32 bit & it won't work. Many of the codecs, & video related files like plugins
