    RE: My Journey To AV1
I'm hoping Vegas will add native av1 render templates for gpu hardware. I've gotten the best av1 performance and quality readings across the board transcoding with ffmpeg using Nvidia. would they be the same as av1-nvenc render+ in happy Otter as

[Solved] AV1 being REALLY unstable on vegas timeline.
Hey all! So i record all my videos on quicksync AV1, i own and use an intel arc a750 after all. However, using vegas 22 with ANY video that happens to be av1, makes the program 100% unuseable. It crashes so often, do a splice? Crash. Move through

    RE: My Journey To AV1
My only warning is if you don't have a GPU that can decode AV1 in VEGAS, there are quality issues with the software decoder. So fine for output but not for further editing, at least until it is improved. With a compatible GPU I find AV1 looks good

    My Journey To AV1
Last year I started to look at moving from H264 to a more modern Codec to reduce file size and archive my home video. My Camcorders since 2015 are Sony AX100 and AX700 plus some Iphone SE 4k, I choose to shoot in 4K XAVC 100Mb/s, a codec which Vegas

I am not seeing issues with a rendered AV1 file playing back on Vegas 22 timeline. Maybe if you upload a clip we could try it out. forgot to send the clip, but heres a small av1 snippet recorded just now

You using VMAF score as a comparison.Do you aware that some VMAF models (including the one that is default in most programs including vmaf.exe and FFMetrics) are taking into account some video properties that not related to quality? To put it

    RE: Import FFV1
You need to convert it for use in VEGAS. It's not really used for editing. Try AVC, HEVC or AV1.

RE: AV1 being REALLY unstable on vegas timeline.
Special reason for screenrecording gameplay with AV1? I think there're more suitable and easier editable codecs for that purpose.

AV1 encoding is broken in my testing, there are posts in the forum about it.

AVI videos AVI or AV1? Virtualdub 2 outputs AVI when capturing video. AV1 is after rendering.

RE: VEGAS PRO 22 HAVE THE WORST AV1 DECODING: CHROMA SUBSAMPLING 4:1:0
@Howard-Vigorita Did you test AV1 playback with hardware decoder set to off? Try to get the fallback software decoder to playback AV1 and check both visually and numerically. As the OP's video shows the results are dismal.

@vagnerdesouza Thank you for these very detailed tests- great work on them! It must have taken a long time to prepare all this. First, I highly recommend against encoding to AV1 using the built-in encoder in VEGAS Pro. It has blocking and other

oh. thanks by the way for the Shutter Encoder recommendation (on an unrelated thread)--it's a great tool and clearly better for AV1 encodes!

RE: VRAM Bottleneck in Vegas Pro 22 – Considering GPU Upgrade to RX 7900 X
@johnny-s Thanks, that's great. Looks like the Nvidia & Amd are pretty similar in quality for the input used. Lossless input better represents how good they get. Users have been finding Intel av1-svt showing anomalies for some material so I'm a

RE: VP22 support Nvidia NVENC with AV1 ?
Btw, the Intel SVT encoder has also been observed to create artifacts with both Voukoder & ffmpeg. I suspect av1_qsv rendered with an Intel Arc would be similar. Av1_nvenc seems to be the best of all worlds.

RE: AV1 render fails w/ "The reason for the error could not be determined"
Your settings look completely normal and there isn't much to set with AV1 anyway. If you can provide more clues as to how to replicate it I'm happy to try (sample media, project, etc.)In general I'd recommend avoiding AV1 in VEGAS for quality
