RE: Seeking opinions on Davinci Resolve and Fusion
I came lurking after reading the announcement of Catalyst Suite. What I read pretty much confirmed my thoughts. Glad I didn't move back to SCS products. I've been testing Resolve Lite 11.3 for the past month and a half or so. It reads OFX

RE: Seeking opinions on Davinci Resolve and Fusion
I don't use or have a need for Fusion, so I can't comment, but I use Resolve all the time for colour correction. There is a rudimentary editor in the current version of Resolve, but not a great deal of use to me, so I still use Vegas. Blackmagic

Seeking opinions on Davinci Resolve and Fusion
By now I'm sure there are several here who are using Davinci Resolve and/or Fusion on a regular basis. Before I invest my time in installing, learning and working with these applications, I am interested in hearing what user here think of them. As I

RE: Hitfilm 3 vs. Boris CC/ Red
You might also want to look at Blackmagic Fusion. It's pro software that has recently has been made free. And I mean free. Be advised though, it's node based programming so takes a little getting used to. I also have Hitfilm 2 Ultimate, but

RE: If not Vegas for 4k then what?
I doubt you will be able to edit 4k for free with blackmagic. BM has always done the carrot software thing, and put the real functionality behind a paid license. If you can not edit 4k in vegas, my guess the problem is the end user, and not

RE: If not Vegas for 4k then what?
Maybe Blackmagic's DaVinci Resolve 12 free version (when it's released) might be an alternative for those who are having difficulties with 4k in VP?

RE: NAB: Catalyst Edit to replace Vegas Pro?
I know that Vegas has a wealth of small, but valuable features and it is almost certain that Resolve will not have a lot of them now, but if it continues to develop at the rate it has so far, it won't be long before those features are in place.

RE: NAB: Catalyst Edit to replace Vegas Pro?
I would be more inclined to keep an eye on Da Vinci Resolve in the future, as it may leave all the other NLEs in its dust. Apparently, Blackmagic have centred the development of Resolve in Singapore and have over a 100 people working on it. And

RE: New Blackmagic Cameras
what out for moire in their hd cams. all manufacturers really should address that YESTERDAY. I disagree, the usual cure for moire is to put an optical low pass filter (OLPF) in the camera, and that is as good as sticking a sock over the

New Blackmagic Cameras
Blackmagic have again got the industry talking with the release of 30 new products at NAB this year. They have released a smaller version of the URSA, the URSA Mini with 4K and 4.6K options, and a new version of the Pocket camera, the Micro Cinema

RE: Any NAB Vegas news?
rmack350, you might be right - still the challenge Vegas faces is that unless it gets a total rewrite, the ongoing issues of never ending bugs will never be done with IMO. It's true you can' t ever make an app bug free but the issues that are

RE: Terrible Render Preview Window Performance
The FX4800 is very low end for GPU timeline / rendering, it is basically a 260 desktop card. The K series would be the modern versions. Vegas will only render one GPU anyways. Try a 290X or if you need workstation graphics a w9100. 290x and

RE: What rec frame rate & bit rate would u choose ?
Thanks guys. We have decided to go with 30fps for now. 1080p most probably. Highest bit rate probably. We have already ordered the Blackmagic shuttle and associated stuff. All but the connecting SDI cable will be here Monday I understand. And

RE: What rec frame rate & bit rate would u choose ?
Depends on what your output / display format is going to be. I mostly shoot in 1080p@30fps with the highest bite rate the camera has. Then batch render the trimmed footage to XDCAM-ex for timeline editing. XDCAM has much lower system

RE: Can''t load BMPCC clips into Vegas Pro 13
Looks like a problem for Blackmagic and Sony to figure out. I don't think you're missing anything. Any recent version of QuickTime for the PC supports reading ProRes files. Since it works on Vegas Pro 12.0 it sure sounds like a bug in Vegas Pro

videoITguy, I haven't had any motherboard issues with the three Blackmagic cards I'm running, I guess I'm just lucky. I don't use them in Vegas much, I just use the stand-alone HDLink app for capture and conversion to Cineform in real-time. Hard

One more option that apparently hasn't been discussed is getting a Blackmagic DeckLink Mini Recorder PCIe capture card for HD-SDI and HDMI, it lists for $145. Next is buying the GoPro (Cineform) Studio Premium software for $299, using the included

RE: Installing and using the Acid DNxHD codec in Vegas
I do not know why here is still stated that one cannot work in Vegas with 10bit. That is very very wrong. Here we have a camera that seems to deliver trud 10bit too. So this is still a valid possibility. For the Blackmagic codec - I would test
