RE: How to downconvert 1080i to DVD
I've been shooting 1080i with my FX1 cameras for a few years now, and making SD DVDs. I don't know if there is such a thing as a generic "best" way for all purposes. However Vegas does a reasonable job of downconverting. I am editing at 1080i

OT: Samsung Warranty Service
One of my side interests is researching user reviews for electronics products because reliability is at the top of my list of factors before I buy or recommend anything. I read through this thread regarding a few Samsung DLP TV owners experience

RE: ot dvd player with jog shuttle?
I don't have an answer, but will be interested in the response. I would LOVE a DVD player that could do all the smooth shuttle moves that can be done with a computer DVD software player. To be able to smoothly shuttle back and forth rather than just

RE: Sir Howard ....."The DVD war is over. " ????
there is little here to debate since niether one of us are privy to the inner workings of Bestbuy (as well as those on the AVS forum making the accusations). There are a lot of paranoid people out there who will only see what THEY want to see.

Available Capture space
I'm trying to track down a problem with Vegas under estimating available drive space on a newly installed 500 gig RAID 0 array. It appears that Vegas (I tried V3, V5 and V7) is only "seeing" a maximum of 100 gigs of the drive. 1. Could anyone out

RE: Sir Howard ....."The DVD war is over. " ????
As for Best Buy hiding the HD DVD players, are you sure they weren't putting them all around the store in hopes that people who didn't come into the DVD player section would see them? Are you sure there was evil intent? Where's your evidence? For

RE: Print to HDV tape "Device Unavailable" Why?
It's finally responding. I did change out the 4-pin Firewire cable but it wasn't the problem. I cold-restarted the computer and the Z1U still didn't show up in Vegas, so I went through the camera's "In/Out Rec" menu selectively and changed each

RE: Using Vegas 6.0 to create VCDs - No Audio?!
How did you try to playback the VCD? I have a DVD player that is connected to an AV receiver using a 5.1CH toslink connection. For whatever reason when I insert a VCD into the audio is only sent to the player's L-R RCA stereo outputs (which at the

Toshiba had the same 2 for 1 promotional thru retailers, was that any more or less dishonest? =========== Not according to everyone on the HD DVD Software AV Science Forum. They didn't count their sales like the Blu-Ray camp. ========== Toshiba

overlay time & date on HDV - one solution
Is there any way in Vegas to overlay the recorded time & date on the video frame, using the subcode data stored in the HDV file? For a while I assumed that there was no program to do this. Today I discovered there is: the "HDVInfo" plugin for

RE: problems
Paging file should be 1 to 1.5 times the size of your physical RAM, so that should be fine. Either the special FX you are using on your footage is extremely slow (Magic Bullet?) or something is very wrong with your system, whether it is two years

RE: Rendering to a different MPEG2 Encoder?
all purely FWIW... At one time in the docs or whatever I read that making Vegas' mpg2 encoder available outside of Vegas was a licensing issue -- at any rate the same was true of Prem Pro at the time. That said, the way Vegas works with RGB makes
