RE: Adobe will be Cloud only!
The cost for anyone with a CS3 or later license is $29.90 / month and that's for everything. Oddly enough Adobe claim the move is based on the unexpected success of their existing cloud based offering which has 500,000 subscribers. Personally even

RE: Preview RAM and Stills Rendering
The question is about Preview RAM AND Max number of rendering threads together. For the last couple of years some users here have tried several combinations of these 2 settings every time a new Vegas version or upgrade was released - and

RE: This can't be right - 14% CPU utilization render
I do a lot of AVID DNxHD 220Mbps renders and it is the key reason we have all source footage on one fast (hardware) RAID and render all target footage to another fast RAID. Whenever I recommend folks use a RAID if they are serious about video

RE: OT: PC sales plunge as Windows 8 flops
I'd boil it down to a few points: 1. People aren't spending as much overall, so personal PCs aren't selling as well. 2. Unemployment is up, so companies have a surplus of PCs (and cubicles) that aren't in use. 3. There were too many desktops and

RE: OT: PC sales plunge as Windows 8 flops
Heck, even my techno-uninterested parents have a PC, a laptop, and an iPad. They don't see them as computers at all, but merely additional useful appliances. The single biggest thing they do with them, google searching, works just the same on all

RE: Quick V12 render test on new i7 3770 system
QuickSync is fixed function hardware Intel started incorporating into their integrated graphics starting with Sandy Bridge (2600k, etc.. HD3000/2500 graphics). Ivy Bridge (3770k) upgraded HD graphics to HD4000/2500 (faster rendering). Reviews

RE: Sony Vegas for Mac
With Sony releasing Sound Forge Pro for Mac, I see no reason why they wouldn't release Vegas soon. I was pretty shocked to see when they released the Sound Forge for Mac. I've had it with Windows. Between unstable hardware, to software, and Windows

RE: GPU Section Criteria
It is actually very difficult to estimate GPU performance for a given card in the context of video encoding. There are some many variables, including internal GPU architecture, drivers and software implementation and so on. Few months ago I spent

RE: Working systems
My response related to the numbers. 1) I had no intention to brag about by system. The intention was to list a system that is stable and utilizes GPU acceleration as it is intented. If the issue as you say is with workflow, then this is the wrong

RE: Praise for version 12
Being a long time user of VP8, I had used that extensively with little to no issues and was happy. A few years later, a work project required some video presentations, so I checked to see how VP had progressed. I saw that VP11 touted GPU

RE: Titan with CUDA fails on vegas Pro 12
Sorry, I can't directly help you but something here smells similar to what has happend to me on the AMD side of things with the MC AVC encoder. I upgraded my video card from a 5850 to a 7950 and MC AVC OpenCL no longer thinks OpenCL is available

Wow! That really is a rough deal you had there. My experiences are quite the opposite. I build my own PCs and get to choose the hardware... Particularly the RAM I use. My latest PC. A simple i3 system with high quality RAM and on-board intel Video

"SOMETHING is causing some people all this grief while others report no issues at all." See, to me that's the main proof that Vegas is very poorly coded software, or code that got worse with time, since apparently it used to be a very stable

AMD cards and Vegas 12
Hi All, I have a question regarding video cards. I am running Vegas Pro 12 on a machine which should be flying (Intel (R) Core i7 3930k CPU @ 3.20GHZ, 16GB Ram). In addition, I have several plug ins (Neat video, Boris FX and Newblue) But... my

RE: Preview choppy-need to upgrade something? But what?
I agree that you're at the lower end of hardware needs for high-def video. And you won't be able to run Movie Studio 12 on an XP machine. Although, on a dual-core system, upgraded to 4 gigs of RAM , you may be able to do some basic editing of that

Vegas 12 Crashes On AMD Vishera
I recently upgraded one of my machines to an AMD 8350 Vishera 8 Core processor from an AMD 1090T 6 Core processor on the same AM3+ motherboard. Tonight was the first time I tried rendering Vegas projects on it. Very basic stuff like colors bars

For business there is another option that can be very appealing. Many question whether having a full-blown PC with O/S and applications installed locally makes any sense. Many organizations are considering thin-clients, where the applications run on
