I have a 7Gb AVI movie that I want to fit onto a single 4.7Gb DVD. After selecting Render As.., and choosing the DVD NTSC () template, I get a superb result after 5-hours. Is there a way to (a) get an ESTIMATE of the resulting file size (b) Change

My Dvd that i have set up in DVD arcitect is about 6 GB's Is this the estimate listed in DVD Architect before preparing, or did you actually prepare the files and this is the size reported by Windows Explorer? Please note that DVDA overestimates

    RE: DVD Architect 2.0 differences
Yes, if you have too much to fit on the disk, DVDA will reduce the bitrate to fit everything on the disk. You simmply go to the optimize screen and click the button. I find this very useful for quick and dirty "put it in and it plays" stuff where

but after preparing DVD size of project remains the same: 5.2 Gb.?! As reported by DVDA or as reported by Windows Explorer? DVD Architect's size estimates are not to be trusted. If you've actually prepared your files and Windows Explorer reports

    RE: DVD Architect Studio
DVDA Architect (the version that comes with Vegas+DVD) has issues in estimating a project's correct size. Since DVDA Studio is based on the same code, I guess it must have the same problem. (I've never used Screenblast Movie Studio, so I don't

    RE: File Size
You can reduce the bitrate a little to get it all to fit. Go to File>Optimize DVD Then slide the "Default Bitrate" slider to the left until the "Estimated Size" falls below 100%. This will reencode your video which may reduce quality slightly,

    RE: File Size
OK! I saved the file to the hard drive as an mpeg2 and it was rendered to about 3.8 gb. I went to the DVD Architect and brought in the file. I clicked on prepare and burn dvd. The estimated file size is now 5.06 gb, or 106% of the media. I

I'll try to help.. Get TMPGENC PLUS encoder, I can assure you it's an excellent MPEG enconder (despite the fact some people here think its quality is just "fair"....lol); Or you can also try the best one which is CANOPUS PROCODER 2 (there's an issue

I don't use My DVD or the Burn to DVD option, so I may not be able, but was 6GB the actual file size after rendering or estimated file size when you went to render it?

    RE: DVD Optimize/prep
Rob, You mentioned Womble before. I did get it but have not had a real chance to use it. Most of what I am doing at this point is .avi then rendering to MPEG2. I re-rendered but miscalculated. The data wound up being (according to DVD AC) 99%

    RE: DVD Optimize/prep
Most DVDRs sold today are 4.7 gig, not 3.95 gig. Check the packaging for your discs (or the discs themselves) to confirm this. If this is the case, in DVDA go to Options -> Preferences -> Burning, and change the "Space available on media"

    DVD Optimize/prep
I have rendered a movie just shy of 1hr 40 min's. I used the DVD Architect NTSC Video Stream template in Vegas 4.0. The file is still coming up as 4.16 gigs. DVD AC. Estimated size is 112% of the 3.95 gigs available. Will DVD AC have to

RE: Two DVD's from one project.
I didn't say that In / Out points aren't used with MPEG2. They do what they're supposed to -- they indicate where your movie should start and where it should stop. But, in the case of an MPEG2, they will not trim that movie. The movie will start

RE: How to reduce DVDA project size so to not go 2 discs.
There are two ways to do this. One of them is with DVDA 2.0. Hit make DVD and you'll have a screen asking to select operation to perform. Choose optimize DVD. Left click on chosen video files on the left and on the right, choose Video; Recompress

RE: How to reduce DVDA project size so to not go 2 discs.
The estimates can be (and usually are) faulty. Post here how long your video is, what kind of audio your're using, and what bit rate you're using. Someone will be able to tell you what the actual size of your project is. OR go ahead and prepare

Hi grisetti, thanks for the quick response. Sorry to sound flippant, but I'm aware of the imposed limits of Win98/FAT32, as mentioned in my original post, which is why I want to try and figure out how to get VF to save to segmented AVI files like

Rendering segmented AVI files with VF 2.0c. How?
It clearly states in the help file that VideoFactory 2.0c (VF) will automatically render large video files to segmented AVI files if the final estimated size is going to be over the 2GB/4GB imposed limit of FAT32 drives, yet no matter what I do it

    RE: DVD estimation size
The estimation when using MPEG2 files is really bad. I haven't used AVI files, but perhaps the estimation is bad for these as well. Try preparing the files to a folder and then look at the total size of the files. If you have Nero, you can put these

I usually use avi. files in my DVD's and just let DVDA2 compress...however...what i could normally fit with room to spare on a disk with DVDA1 ...goes way over the limit on DVDA2. Is this a problem with the estimation? I even renedered all videos

Papa Ioan, How large is the actual mpeg file you are importing? Given the bitrates and lengths you quoted, it can't be 12 GB; this could be a problem with DVD-A estimating the size? Using the bitrate calculator, for a 3.5 hour video with 128 kbit
