  I too had the same issue. Purchased same software at Amazon they gave me the serial for Sound Forge. I found the chat feature on Amazon and complained. They have refunded me.

  If it wasn't bought from the Magix/ VEGAS Creative Software store on Amazon it may be fake/ a scam giving you an already used serial number. You should at least be able to answer things like the version of Vegas as it says it upon program start up!
